Glad you got to see your son brian. Been following since before you moved back from japan and seeing your face just light up when you had your son with you was great. Proud of you for making it work. Keep on keeping on
Mate - as a separated father I know it's hard and being away from your child can be a killer inside. All you can do is try to let them know you love them, be there as much as you can and try to be as polite as possible to the ex and never badmouth them in front of the child. As you say, it is what it is. We don't all have total control over our lives and love can come and go, sometimes there's nothing you can do about it other than accept it and move on. I separated 7 years ago but still see mine as much as I can and we used to talk every night but well they're in their teens now and it;s not always cool to talk to Dad every night.. so sometimes we co-op game together, it's relaxing and sometimes they even talk to me about general stuff :)
Man this has been such a great marathon for both you and your followers, you are literally living life at Max... It must feel good to be in Japan and travel the world looking for cool tech to build an awesome computer not just for u but for your son as well, you are an awesome father! You should have one billion subscribers! Cheers mate.
Good to know that she is letting you be a part of little Brian's life! Banzai! Love your channels and keep up the good work! Hopefully you can start doing vlogging again, as I enjoyed it very much Bryaneasy!
Hey man these videos have been fun to watch. My daughter is 7 too. She was born May 9 2012. She is so smart. She helped me build my last rig back in January and since then she insist that we build her own rig for gaming so she's doesn't have to use mine. I tell her the computer isn't just mine it's both of ours but she says no, no it's yours, you're just nice to let me use it but if I had my own I wouldn't need to borrow yours and then we can play together. Like I said she's smart so maybe we will build something together for christmas
My gosh people told me I was super intelligent for building my own computer at age 11 and someone half my age built a PC WOW she's super super intelligent I hope my little brother will grow to be super intelligent too because I'm constantly teaching him stuff like math and stuff but he's only 2
YES! You get it! I WISH they would start putting out full glossy screens again! I've always loved a good high gloss display, it just makes the colors look so vivid and true. My laptop has a beautiful glossy 1080p 60Hz IPS display and I absolutely love it. I'm now using an external 27" 1440p 144Hz semi-glossy IPS display with 8 bit color (vs the 6 bit of my laptop), and while I can certainly tell the difference in the amount of colors/gradients etc. thanks to the higher bit rate (and I absolutely love the higher refresh rate and resolution of course), I still think that overall things looked better with the glossy display just because of the way it makes things 'pop', especially for games. I've been into glossy displays ever since the old NEC MultiSync LCD1765 which was actually my first ever LCD/flat panel (all CRTs before that) which I bought because they had it set up at Best Buy next to all the other monitors, including the high refresh rate TNs from the likes of Samsung as well as among their more expensive 'professional' displays and whatnot, and it just put every other monitor on their shelves to shame because of the way that glossy glass coating/cover made the colors look. I get that some people have to be concerned with glare and why that isn't ideal in all situations, but if set up properly there really is no issue with reflections/glare, especially if you can set it up the way I have where my only light source for my room is above and behind the monitor which makes it pretty much impossible for there to be any kind of glare on the screen and it looks absolutely amazing. I think HP was one of the last companies to produce a high-end panel with a gloss coating, but they've since stopped making it and I don't know of any others unfortunately, though you can still find some high end laptops with a glossy screen/panel as an option (and they look just as good as the glossy monitors thankfully) but they are becoming less common than they used to be unfortunately. I think a company would do well to produce at least a single model of high-end IPS gaming display with good color accuracy, high refresh rate and a nice clean glossy screen because there is definitely a market for it, at least among those of us who have experienced and enjoy the look of a nice glossy display.
The first time I went to Japan I went to every Hard Off or Book Off I could find and filled suitcases with awesome gaming and PC stuff, the last time I went I got a few bits and pieces on my trip, but pretty much none from any of the Off stores. Reminds me of Cash Converters back in the day compared to now. If I wanted to pay eBay prices for stuff, I would buy off eBay.
I had to laugh a little when you found that Dell case. We used to have a bunch of pre-mades in that exact case at work. And finding one for $5, I'd probably say that was my favorite deal in this video. Looking forward to the next episode.
I had that same Acer monitor too! Served me well for years and now is attached to a Plex server i built and shared costs w a friend on. I completely agree, colors really pop and a last of its era. Great bang for the buck back then.. I scored it from a local staples on a ridiculous sale.
Keep up the hunt for those 980Ti cards. I've discovered a recent soft spot for them if you can get them at bargain prices sub $200. Also it's really nice knowing some personal background of your life 😍 makes your channel feel more real and like home in a way 🙂
I've got the motherboard that matches that Dell XPS tower -- it's the 'XPS 435t', I believe. Originally a Socket 1366 system. A really nice case that looks even better in video. Looking forward to seeing what gets done with it. I just restored a previous generation XPS 700-series machine, initially gutted that it was BTX, decided to just stick with what it was and max it out as a crazy high-end Windows XP retro box. Monsterous! Hope you don't feel compelled to bring one of those home from Japan!
I had the glossy display on my old Gateway laptop. I absolutely loved it, and you are correct when you said the colors just pop. I see you get a lot of cases with accommodations for a CD drive. Indicative of past years of course as nobody uses them anymore unless you have some old games or software. Do you actually put a CD drive in there? And the Zalman case has a blank for a floppy drive???? That's downright hilarious!!!
You should do a couple videos on removing the AntiReflective(AR) coating by leaving wet shop towels on the screen for a few hours (keeping them wet) until you can pull off the AR coating
I always loved picking off cheap pieces off Yahoo.tw and putting together cheap computers when I lived in Taiwan. I'm not into gaming but just like to keep myself busy after coming home from teaching. Some of the most interesting video cards I've have ever seen I've got off of Yahoo.tw. Stuff not available for the North American market.
Yo Brian, while you’re in Japan. I’m curious about the brand and chemical contents of the brake/parts cleaner you have been using before. I cleaned my PC and unfortunately, electronic spray that I used made my 120mm fan go like a brittle pillar of salt. I you could please make a short clips of those Japanese products.
Love your videos otherwise. I’m in the process of moving from a Q6700, turned Q9400, to an i7-6700t using shucked 2.5” HDDs for low power storage. Granted, I shoot for power efficacy and performance, but it’s a similar spirit for things.
What about building the PC into a computer desk alla OLIVETTI M3030 and two of the drawers could house the SSD/SATA Hard Drive, what I mean was that the OLIVETTI M3030 was a mini computer where by removing screws on the back of the desk you could gain access to the electronics of the unit and it had a separate unit that combined a bi-directional Line printer and two 8" floppy drives and had a built in keyboard that slid under the desk when not in use and it also had a monochrome monitor and came with packages with repapk, lexapk and other packages also but the power unit see to go on the fritz every so often.
My thoughts on what needs to happen for computer-shops to survive. BIG shops in any city (just outside the cities like IKEA, to have lower prices for the ground) with all the hardware which you like for good prices (comparable to when you order online) and also a business in buying and selling second-hands given that it would be a lot easier to centralize this (many of us would probably accept lower prices for selling second-hands in return for the convenience). Add some servvice to that, like some courses which they offer (Linux, video-editing, picture-manipulation, networking) and you might get an interesting business model. @TechYESCity , if you scale up then you can get away with lower prices while keeping the same profit margins. You get a much stronger negotiation position and you get lower constant costs per $X sold. Scaling up is the only way out, that is for sure, the rest can be debated.
You're going to have to go to that Suzuki dealer to buy a van and drive home all of those deals you bought. On second thought, hopefully those Suzuki vans can float.
I didn't know Zalman made cases. I thought they just made all those old cpu coolers. Some of those old ones had some fun designs for coolers too. I wish coolers were still as creative these days.
Thinking maybe its a good idea to go to Taiwan and buy a suitcase full of cpu's, a few motherboards, and a few graphics cards, since they tend to have such great deals
Brian, listen. Every pc store in japan is your favourite store.
I love your profile picture. 😂🤫
How high can you overclock that veggie?
Except Hardoff, most times
I'm Commander YES and this is my favorite store on the Citadel.

Thanks man, appreciate the kind words. Just gotta keep on and keep smiling.
A dad getting the best out of a situation, i can relate to that
I agree. Glossy panels only. If you have a problem with glare, it's an environment problem, not a display problem.
