  • This is my weight loss journey of the last 7 years. I talk about how I am dropping the extra 30 pounds I gained and I chat about how I gained the weight and why I wanted so desperately to take it off and get my figure back. I started at 157 and am now down to 139…my goal is 128…I have 11 more pounds to go. I am 5’3. I also talk about seeing a special picture this week that changed forever how I look at my life and happiness.
Thank you for your love and prayers for Bill and thank you for sharing this journey with me.
Love you to the moon and back,
    xxoo Susan & The Dez

    My Freedom Diet
    1. Always choose your favorite foods for lunch and dinner.
    2. Drink a lot of water -lemon or lime...peach...something fun!
    3. Walk After Every Meal
    4. Choose 8 hours of eating your meals per day. This can be flexible.
    5. Allow yourself something small like hard candy or gum to get you through the 16 hours of fasting at first.
    6. Be good to yourself...surround yourself with food and beverages you love and don't think of it as a diet but just another way to live. After a week this is your new normal. Don't eat diet food...eat what you love.
    I said to myself 100 times a day " eating isn't fun"
and after a while, I truly believed it. I eat to live. Food is not a
date..it isn't love or a fun recreation. We eat to stay alive so we can live a full life.
    7. Keep A Weight Diary - Keep track of your progress as far as weight and measurements but more importantly, write down how you are feeling about your progress.
    8. Brag...but pay it forward every way you can.
I am far from an expert here but I felt the need to share with you what has worked for me. I am thrilled to find a way to lose weight that brings me joy not deprivation and I so wanted to share it with you. I have no time to be counting calories or protein to fat ratios...I am too busy. So this works for me. Thank you for lending me your ear. I love you!

This was beautiful as always, my sweet friend! I think Dezi is getting better at looking into the camera at the end! Yay!!!! 💖🐶💖 Do you ever take Desi to the dog park? Or is that too much for him? I love seeing all the doggies you met!
2003...my serious moment with myself. Highest weight of my life. I promised myself that whatever way I chose to lose weight, it had to be something I could do for a lifetime. I had been dieting for over 40 years and had just kept getting fatter. What I had done in the past was not working, at least not long-term. So I had to find a new path. I discovered a book and the fan club for that book and author, who was a chef. They helped me piece together the plan that would end up helping me lose 30 lb.
    1. No demonizing food. There is no food that is "bad" and that I can never have again. This is how I had failed many times.
    2. Adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet and less processed food.
    3. Adding more complex carbohydrates and less simple carbohydrates (bread, sugar, etc.)
    4. Changing from White foods to brown foods (whole wheat pasta, brown rice, etc. Vs. The white flour versions)
    5. Increasing my activity which began with the Walk Away the Pounds CDs by Leslie Sanson and got more strenuous from there.
    6. Cooking healthy and delicious meals at home (multiple servings) and taking those meals to work for lunch vs. Eating out
    7. Eating my main meal at lunch instead of dinner (more time to burn calories before bedtime).
    8. No snacking after 8 p.m. (though now that I am retired and stay up late, I sometimes have a yogurt between 8 and 9 p.m.)
    9. No stopping or waiting a week or a month to start over because I messed up. Start right back the next meal!!
    10. What you believe you can achieve. If we believe in ourselves, almost anything is possible.

I had to pin this comment Sheri because your 10 step plan hits a chord with me. All your points are just spot on. and I so relate to the non-denial. I think it's crucial to me that I try to make my meals joyous...diet or no diet...joy without guilt. Today I had a love Shrink grill with salmon with a small garden salad and I am thinking, this dinner was truly fantastic. Shrink is my favorite seafood...so I have made such an effort to not focus on that hot fudge sundae that is not good for me and concentrate on healthy delicious foods. How can I thank you for sharing? Tips to a better life with food are just precious. Love you! Sues

I recently hit my goal weight of 125 and then went passed it to 122. I was last year at my all time heaviest 208! I had a hip replacement at 52 years old, I couldn’t walk and I was depressed. While I was recuperating, I too got sick of being sick! It was as if I light switch turned on and I said I don’t want to be this way anymore and the only person in my way was me! I’m proud to say that I did it all by myself using Keto principles and fasting. Since I accomplished that I also decided to go back to school of all things! I now actually am happy, happy that I changed my path all on my own ☺️ I realized I don’t need anyone to help me do that. I can decide all on my own if I choose to be happy or not, and sometimes a good cry is in order, and I take time to do that, but then I say myself, okay you got that out of the way ... let’s go and be happy again. Just like you said people can change and the one thing in life for sure is that nothing stays the same forever ☺️👍

Wow, You have done quite well on your weight loss journey !! I think the most weight I ever got to was 160, but I went low carb over 15 years ago and never got to that weight again. I do look at keto recipes as well as the low carb ones. There is so much you can eat now that won't pack the pounds. It't just takes discipline . You can even make all kinds of goodies by just using different things like coconut flour instead of regular flour, or erythritol in place of sugar for example. I never feel deprived and don't consider this as a diet, It's a lifestyle. But you should be so proud. My lowest this year was 125 but my average is between 128 and 132. And I keep it in check by weighing myself often. How tall are you ? I am 5'6 and turned 60 yesterday.

Sugars no more than 130ish ( 5 to 6 ish ) I eat cheese lots of eggs , meat, fat and double cream - no bread, pasta, grains, rice or flour ! It's a miracle ..I just don't feel hungry anymore , the fats in my meals just stops me feeling hungry 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🙉👍.. thank you for your video, you look AmaZing😀 👌

Weight loss for women seems to be a constant through our lives. Menopausal weight loss seems to be the most frustrating. I think we need to understand how much our hormones effect so much of our being. We just need to encourage each other’s wise path.

When you said “that’s just me”, I thought “that’s just LIKE me”! I have been struggling with my weight most of my adult life. I now follow what my dietician taught me: Eat less. I do intermittent fasting and I’m glad to learn that you too use a couple of hard candies to get you to bedtime. My dietician said it doesn’t matter what food you eat as much as just eating less of it. If you don’t enjoy what you are eating it leads to overeating to reach satisfaction. Bless your daughter-in-law for sharing those precious moments with you. My son is estranged from all family. I can see that it is originating from mental illness with his wife. This is the hardest thing I have ever dealt with. I pray everyday that they will heal and return to us.

    • @g-bgcg
      @g-bgcg 5 років тому +7

Sheryl Bessinger I read a lot of books on many different topics. I think there are a lot more parents dealing with estranged adult children then we think. Apparently It’s an epidemic to throw away parents nowadays. It appears no matter how much a parent does for some kids, it comes back to the parents fault for every bad decision their kids make. Kids blame their parents instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. I support you and pray for reconciliation in your family. My heart goes out to you. ❤️🙏🏻

    • @donmetz11
      @donmetz11 5 років тому +1

Yes, I agree. There are too many parents grieving over estranged children now. I am one of them. My two daughters have cut off communication from me for a year and a half, blaming me for their father molesting them. They refuse to believe that I didn't know. I feel so sad for their pain and pray for their healing every day. I feel for every parent going through this.

I’m on the Keto diet. I’ve lost over 50 pounds and counting. I started on January 17, 2019. The weight fell off at first but as time went on, the weight loss slowed down. I became impatient and I felt stressed out. I realized that I needed to be kinder and much more patient with my body. I gained all the weight over time. It stands to reason that losing it will take some time as well. I only eat twice a day between the hours of 11am & 6pm. Nothing past 6pm. Tons of water. I eat healthy fats (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado) and I’m never hungry. I feel satiated. I eat cheese, meat and fresh non starchy veggies. I’m 20 pounds from my goal weight and I’m taking it day by day. Stress makes me stall. I have no desire to put my body through anything that will interfere with my weight loss journey. I choose ME! 🙌🏼🥰
Thanks for sharing the freedom diet with us ☺️😉
You look amazing. I love your channel! Congrats on your weight loss! 🎉 You’ve got this! Big hugs from Denver 🌺

Congratulations! I am 5'3" and weigh 157 now. I thought that was really good because it's the least I've weighed since my twins were born. They're 30, but that's beside the point. :-)
My blood pressure and cholesterol and blood sugar have always been really good, so I thought I was doing well. I've lost 30 pounds in the last year and a half, so I thought it was all good. I just had my annual physical and even though all those usual markers were good, my liver was getting "fatty". Eeewwww.
The doctor asked what I was eating. I told him honestly. Garbage. I'm eating garbage. Ever since my husband died 19 months ago, I cry when I try to cook dinner, because we did that together.
This happened two weeks ago and I've been trying to figure out what in the world I'm going to do to eat differently. Like you, it isn't the amount of food, it's the food I choose. You have inspired me to make better choices because look at you! You look so vibrantly healthy. That's what I want.
I am going to just decide that I'm preparing my food with you; that I'm not doing it alone. I am going to eat well with you. Thank you, Susan. You are just so wonderful. All my love to you and Desi.

I completely relate! I’m right where you are. I always maintained my weight in 120’s to low 130’s until I hit my 50’s, menopause and a very sedentary job with long hours and the weight gradually started creeping up. Now I’m miserable! I’m not comfortable and think this fat old lady just can’t be me! I also relate to the pressure to be thin as a teenager. Magazines in those days gave the models weight and measurements! I remember one model had a 22” waist and mine was 23.5”. I joined a weight loss club to try to meet my 22” goal! Crazy! Your weight loss success is incredibly inspiring for me! Will be watching to see your progress for ongoing inspiration.

Oh, Susan...I LOVED this video. I've been missing from UA-cam a bit as I started a resale business on Poshmark to try to help pay down the loans we took out for our children to attend college. It's been a lot of work getting it off the ground, but also so rewarding. I so want to get it to a point that will enable my husband to retire. He'll be 65 this year and overcame cancer last year (it was a battle and he was a warrior). I'm so proud of him. I want him to be able to rest and enjoy life. When you said that when you want something really badly, you will find a way...life finds a way...I took it to heart! I needed to hear your voice tonight...you have added an extra lightning bolt of inspiration to my toolbox! Thank you for all you do for all of us. Love you. Big hugs...Lorraine P.S. I was crying at the end...I loved everything you said about the epiphany you had when you looked at the photo of your son cradling your grandson. Just beautiful. xo

I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I remember. I am an emotional eater. I have really gained weight this past year due to all changes in my life. You are an inspiration to me in many ways. I applaud you for taking us along on your life journey. You give me things to think about every time I watch you. Your apt is darling and I want to incorporate twinkle lights into my decor too, they make it look cozy!! I am going to try the intermittent fasting, and have also signed up on an online support group for body, mind, spirit. When I lost 75 lbs 5 years ago, I did a combination diet plan as well:
    1. Low carb using protein shakes w/spinach & berries thrown in for fiber & health; trying for no sweets & white flour processed foods
    2. Strive for 5 - vegetables (mostly) & fruits daily
    3. No eating after 8 p.m.
    4. At least eight 8 oz glasses of water daily
    5. Walking that eventually moved to jogging. I had a buddy system where we even worked up to 5Ks!
I felt so good about my progress back then that I went for my Master's degree at 49 years old! = which I did get, thanks to God's grace, along with passing a counseling certification. However, I fell back into old unproductive habits such as emotional eating and not exercising. I am starting back over now in my healthier me journey. So, thank you for the inspiration, sharing your motivation! It takes courage to be honest and vulnerable, especially in video. And thanks for letting me hijack your comment section, lol!

Hi Susan! How I loved hearing about your weight struggles and triumph. Having been seriously overweight for 30 years now has been so bad for my health, self esteem and energy level. But, I too got mad and really woke up to the Carb and sweet overload and said- “ No longer is this acceptable, you MUST face this problem and take back your life.” So I began eating Low Carb and cut out the sugar. I decided to invest in my health and started taking a bovine thyroid replacement, a good probiotic, Vit. B complex, Carotene, Potassium, Magnesium, and drink filtered water with lemon & limes. Have done Intermittent fasting, walking my dog at the park, praying as I go, breathing deeply and letting go of the things that troubled me. And have lost 40 lbs. If I see an overweight woman, I think, that lady has not been loved properly. She has not been loved by her significant other and/or she has not loved herself. I see me and the journey that has brought me thus far. Thankfully, I lost this weight as I began a new full time plus job. What energy I have now!!! So thankful that I woke up! That I decided, one more time to tackle what seemed insurmountable. Though there is so much more to lose, I know how, now. It is by simply deciding that enough is enough. Make better choices, don’t deny myself if there is some homemade Pineapple Upside Down Cake, have a piece and enjoy it. It may be the only one I have all year long. Eating veggies, fruits and protein is what we were created to eat, not junk. Therefor it is what I eat and am thankful for the results-- having slacks and blouses that fall off of me. Susan and Desi, I'm SO glad I found your channel!!!! 😁. You are such an encouragement to me. Thank you. I also gained 30 lbs. in the last 6 years. Am 5'2" and started out last Dec. at 151lbs. Am now at 137, heading for ideal weight at 120. I'm 67, very vain and have instructed my two daughters to bury me at the age of 120 in my 4" high heels 😁👍👠!!! I'm still working on the daily struggle of what to eat and when, but have found that I lose weight when the daily calories are around 900. Worst time is evening, so your tip of candy will be tried. Do you include wine in your diet somewhere? I noticed it on your table in the background. Love your twinkly lights, so cozy, and your beautiful surroundings. Please keep sharing your life with us and please think about giving a closet tour. You are such an interesting person. ❤️❤️😊

I'm 65 YO, 5'4", and have been overweight (180lbs) for 10 yrs now. I consider myself successful and a naturally happy person and I have never been happier and content in life than now even w this weight bc of the self-assurance and self-confidence I gained throughout life. But recently, I have realized that I need to lose weight for health reasons and bc my husband and I will enjoy life and travel better if we are both fit. When my husband's family started dying of cancer, I told him that it would be our journey together to be healthier. I have been doing my studies on leading a healthy lifestyle, I garden organically, and we eat what I harvest fr all the trees, plants, and herbs in our backyard but I know I need to do more by exercizing regularly. What you said about getting what we want if we want it so badly reminded me of how I dealt with challenges in the past and I thank you for reminding me of it. I just got some inspiration fr you!
You are so beautiful and youthful-looking. I wish you the best and more success in your UA-cam channel.

You are such an upbeat elegant and soft spoken lady interesting fun and smart. Ever since I’ve happened upon your channel I find it has been a godsend. Since I went through the change I not only can’t seem to Lose weight but I just keep gaining weight. I don’t really eat that much and I’m active but maybe I’m eating the wrong stuff for my arthritis and it has started to become debilitating. I’m not burning the calories as I go about m daily chores like I once could. I’m doing physical therapy now to prepare for a hip replacement next spring. So after seeing this I’m going to really try to cut weight. I used to be a dancer and athlete but after having kids I got really heavy. So then in the early 90’s I saw the Riverdance and got inspired to dance again so I went back to the discipline I learned track and field, jogged and taught myself to do Irish step dancing and lost 120 lbs . I had to Lose weight about 16 years ago toO! I drank mint and green tea in morning and at night cut out all desserts sweets fats dairy and meat and just ate an apple and an orange every day and two mugs of Lipton tea with no milk and just a teaspoon of honey, a little yogurt and a couple hands full of blueberries and almonds. When I did start eating again I had tofu’s and alfalfa sprout sandwiches and chicken Cesar salad very light on the dressing. Did my physical therapy back exercises to keep my core strength uP and went for a half hour walk every day. But now the joints in my right foot are as bad as my hip so I figure if I go back to my normal weight which was between 115 and 125 at 5’3” ( probably shorter now) Maybe my foot, hip and hands won’t hurt as bad. Which is really going to be hard to do and I may not ever be able to dance like I could once but maybe I won’t be in as much pain anymore, then I could possibly take an adult dance class that would be sO WonderfuL.The only thing that’s constant iS change. Thanks for the inspiration Susan your the BesT💕💖😊

CONGRATULATIONS❣️ I was once in your same situation, needing to lose weight, and I finally made the same changes as you. I still go through times of gaining some weight back & then to, again, make up my mind to stop gaining. I think it will be a continual battle for me because when I reach my goal weight, I find it hard to then stop the losing. Real hard for me to stay balanced but I will forever keep trying! You go girl❣️ I am the big 70!

You are doing wonderful Susan! I do want to caution you. Sometimes when we have gotten to a certain age...and we try to go back the the weight of our youth....we don't look the same. Sometimes as we age we need to keep just a bit more weight to look as good. There is an old saying...either your butt or your face. I'd rather have a healthy full glowing face at 65 ;)
. Even if I can't have my size 5 back.
I'm a size 8 and I am happy with it. I do something physical every day. You do inspire me to try and eat cleaner. I am a sweetaholic. That is my achilles heel.
So keep an eye out as you seek your goal weight. If you see your face starting to look long and tired...then you know you can't go back all the way to the 128. My goal weight is 135. I am 5 lbs up from that..and I'm 5.5 ( use to be 5ft 6) so you sound perfectly normal to me :) Keep up the good work and the wonderful inspiration!

So proud of you, I was watching you and it was just amazing that you and I are so much alike, I am 61 and you are doing pretty much exactly what I am doing and have been for about 2 months. I was a bit heavier than you at 162 and I too am 5'3' with small frame, I am down to 140 and my goal is 118 which was my weight when I was the happiest with by body and health. My blood pressure was also up and I was at my doctors Thursday and it was 140 over 84 which is much better than just 3 months ago at 160 over 90, so yippee. I also speed walk for 20 min a day, and lift weights just 5lbs each for better upper arm definition. I also do squats which have helped my thighs already. My legs no longer are painful when I get up in the morning and back pain is almost completely gone.........you go girl keep it up I will keep watching and rooting for you and me....... 💖💕

You are so right about being determined and disciplined. Its mindfulness (calories, good vs bad foods, bad habits). So glad what you did worked for you. It's not for anyone else, its for yourself and feeling good about yourself. I did my own weight loss journey a few years ago and have kept it off. My weight gain was so minimal over time that I didn't realize it until I got on the scale and said "oh boy." I took the slow but consistent approach (no desserts, no sodas, only one plate at the buffet table!!!!, more salads). With moderate exercise. It was slow but steady. I didn't want the yoyo thing. At one time I lost 90 lbs. when I was 46 years old. My tip for if I was just hankering for something warm and comforting was having 1 sliced zucchini and 1 yellow squash microwaved until hot and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. The calories in dried Parmesan are minimal. I could pretty much eat any vegetable as much as I wanted and continue to lose weight. I also exercised a lot. The weight slowly creeped back. I’m 61 now. I ate quite a bit of salad. Yes I loved them like you do. Thanks again! 😻😻

I'm going to be a Great Grandma. My happiness was that yes, I'm going to be a Great Grandma.... However, my happiness focused on my Daughter. SHE is going to be a Grandma.. for the very first time. I remember that feeling when she told me 26 years ago that *I* was going to be a Grandma. So my true happiness is knowing how she feels. And then I know how my Granddaughter feels having her first child. I remember finding out 47 years ago when I found out I was pregnant with her mom...The best feelings in the world. xo to you and Desi

Susan, I just love your honesty and humor -- the boat noise made me laugh out loud! Pre-cancer I struggled mightily with menopause weight gain. It's definitely an adjustment carrying around that extra weight. I didn't like it one bit, although at some point I made peace with it and decided that if I knew I was eating good food and staying active I had to keep living and stop denying myself good things "until I lost the weight." But you're right, it felt like I was moving away from myself and I didn't like it. Then cancer came to town and now -- talk about a 180˚ -- I struggle to keep from looking emaciated. I have no appetite and clothes shopping, which I used to love, isn't very fun. One day a well-meaning neighbor saw me outside, asked after my health and then wanted to know how much weight I had lost. "You must feel great because of the weight loss," he said. "I'd give anything to have those 35 pounds back and the cancer gone," I said, as I struggled to keep from kicking him in the shins. It was a sad reminder that all too often society values looks over health. That's why I love what you've said here. You're doing what feels right for you, what keeps you healthy and feeling confident and energetic. My "tip" would be to make mental wellness and contentment a priority. If that means eating a treat once in a while and losing at a slower rate, so be it. Joyful energy will certainly distract from an extra pound or two. Thank you for your words of wisdom and good luck on your journey.
Could your grandson be any cuter? I don't think so!
As always, blessings to you, Desi and Bill.

I mentioned IF to you a while ago. I do remember you saying you couldn’t do it because if low blood sugar..
guess what IF cures it. You just have to practice and do it! I started IF a year ago. I recommend it to ANYONE that will listen. Not many will. It will be my way of weight management for the rest of my life. If you want the greatest health benefits you can have, research IF. There is more to it than just weight loss. You have a fasting window and a feasting window. I fast everyday for 16 to 20 hours. Then eat a very clean lower carb meal. I eat sweet potatoes fries all the time too. Yes.. I cheat once in a while.
Congratulation Susan.. you have just found the ULTIMATE life saving lifestyle in IF.
There is a gal( utube) in Texas named DyAnn Parham. She has the BEST comprehensive channel for woman and IF out there. She was my IF GURU.? Taught me all I need to know. You will be surprised at how slim you are going to get my friend. And be as healthy as you can be. Drink lots of mineral waters during the day as we need that at 60+.
    ❤️❤️

I've gained and lost weight many times over my 64 years. Sadly, my weight is up right now (30 pounds). I firmly believe that if you provide your body with the nutrients it requires, you won't crave the bad (yummy) stuff. I don't overeat, but I do occasionally make bad choices of foods that contribute calories without nutrition, which leads to my lack of willpower. Thanks to the dogs in my life over the years, I've never given up my daily 3 miles walks. You've inspired me. Thank you.

Hello Susan, I am brand spanking new to your channel and hearing you speak about how you felt and how you took control and zeroed in on your own solutions for weight loss, was very inspiring. I am 5 years older than you and have been unhappy about my weight ever since I was a teenager even though I was slender then, and even through the births of my 5 children. I see pictures now and wonder why I was always thinking I was too heavy. Then, I started going through menopause and put on another 12 pounds even though I had changed absolutely none of my eating habits. Then diagnosed with Type II diabetes and another 10 pounds had crept on. One day I got on the scale and I was 50 pounds overweight! Since then, I’ve managed to lose 30 pounds over the course of 10 years but I still have 30 to go and no weight loss has happened for awhile now. I feel insecure around others who are slender which I know I shouldn’t but I do. I don’t seem to be strong enough to stick to a healthy eating plan as you do, Susan, and others here, for some reason. I start out okay and then with my husband eating everything that isn’t nailed down, it gets hard to stay with my eating plan. He wants sweets and lots of fatty foods on hand and eventually I cave in. I know he’s not to blame but I’m not getting any younger and frankly, I’m so tired of feeling insecure about my weight that I just wish I honestly didn’t beat myself up day and night about my excess pounds but I always do. Anyway, I’m so thrilled for you that you’ve managed to lose the weight and find the answers that work for you.....you seem to have such a big heart, Susan, and I wish you continued success with your goal.

I just started intermittent fasting 3 weeks ago! What a difference it has made to my midsection, which is my problem area! I am postmenopausal, which makes it harder to shed the weight. I had heard of IF, but thought I would get too hungry going that long without eating. I did get used to it, and now I’m not as hungry as I was before. I got really stressed with some life events 2 years ago. I comforted myself with cake and cookies! I was feeling tired and sluggish, especially after work! I think IF is going to work for me after all! 😊

I was happiest person in the world.. no headaches, no pain in my knees .. I was going to gym, or riding my bicycle .. I have to be happy again.. xoxo

Thank you so much Susan. This has really helped me. I am in my 60's and was so discouraged trying to lose weight. Now I have new motivation and this has been encouraging to me. I hope you keep talking about your weight loss journal. It is very helpful to us that have been struggling. Blessings to you and Dez.

My boat is so far away I can't see it.I think you describe it perfectly. I keep going back and watching as many of your videos as I can find. I have COPD and know my life can never be as it should be, but if I can find one little bit of hope to keep trying at this thing we call life, then I'm in. Love that I have found your channel. Thanks for sharing with us.

Susan, the intermittent fasting is key. If you reduce your eating window, you will see the weight come off faster. You can eat exactly what you are eating now, just schmush it into a shorter window (4 hours) and bingo! It works. You can reduce it to one meal a day (eating anything) but nothing outside of your window like candies or any drinks other than water. It allows the body to repair itself and get rid of parts it no longer needs. You are only stimulating insulin for a short time and that is the magic. Have the candies inside your window only. Or an ice cream sunday! No denial! So try shortening your window by one hour less till that feels normal and then do it again til that feels normal, and so on. You look fantastic! Love you, Isabel

+Isabel Papagno -- thanks for the tips/advice I will try your technique, I have 15lbs to lose, but its not easy getting the scale to reveal good results. My usual 16:8 IF isn't working a well as I thought, so I'll try to reduce my eating window as I move along this journey, hopefully that will cure the problem, again thanks....

@@feleciawallace8420 start with your ideal hour to eat. For me, it is dinner because it's a social thing. Then you put off breakfast for an hour, no big thing. By the time you get to a 2pm breakfast, you may start to lose the desire for it. Then it gets easier to just look forward to dinner. When you get to one meal a day, that's when it gets to be really fun. You're going out with friends and while they're ordering salads with dressing on te side, you order a scrumptious entree with a side salad and then order a decadent dessert if you have room after you had an appetizer and/or soup. Then you tell them how much weight you've lost. Fun fun fun!!!

Little Poet, you look fantastic! You always do.
I’ve also started watching what I’ve ate for the past 2 years or so & I’ve lost about 60-70 pounds. I feel fantastic & I reversed my type 2 diabetes. I do low-carb/keto & intermittent fasting. I am 5’9” & a large frame & yes it’s been hard but so worth it. I still want to lose more weight so I can be at my ideal weight which for me would be anywhere between 160-170 (according to my doctor).
Keep up the good work ♥️

I'm at the same stage. I am 62. I was 152lbs when i wanted to get down to 128lbs. I am now 137lbs this morning. So I've been intermittent fasting for 2-months. It has now become a way of life for me. I only eat between 4pm and 8pm during the week beginning Sunday. And I eat from noon until 8pm on Saturday. This way of eating is working for me. Take good care.

The boat is an excellent analogy -- I related to it immediately! I quit smoking after 37 years (of course, it took a heart attack to force the issue.) The picture of your son is so beautiful! You have such a lovely soul. I'm trying to find the right mix for my own weight loss. Low carb is definitely part of it for me and portion control. It's coming off slowly, but it's coming off! One day at a time!🌻

I am starting my mornings with two miles of outside walking. I am using the Cronometer app to record my food/nutrition. Nothing much has changed in the last few weeks. Very frustrating, but I will not give up. Thanks for the encouragement.

What a beautiful epiphany. I’m very late to the party and don’t know if you’ll see this, but if I may add a thought on happiness… I’ve come to the realization that happiness, like sadness, comes in moments. Trying to hold on to happiness is futile and makes it seem even more elusive. One can then get caught up in focusing on the lack of happiness. But when one accepts that happiness is one of the many feelings that come and go, the struggle ends. I have found it’s better to seek overall contentment and to plant seeds of contentment rather than seeds of expectations, drama, self sabotage, or what have you. When we water our seeds and tend our garden of contentment, our life becomes better and there will be more blooms of happiness that will, of course, come and go. There are many ways to nurture contentment that are easy when one practices living in present moment. Present moment is where one can notice and enjoy beauty, that someone smiled in passing, the laughter of a child, the love shining through a photograph.
Thank you for taking me down this path that reminded me about contentment in the present moment. I needed that! 🌸♥️🌸

Hi Susan, I have been on the Keto diet for two months now and eat pretty much as you are eating...I have found I am learning to love the fresh foods, and my salads are my best and favorite meal! I savor every bite. I have always been a bread eater and thought I could NEVER live without it... not so! I don’t get hungry like in the past. My turning point was I am 62 And was told by my doctor I am pre diabetic, my father was diabetic and so is my husband and I told myself right then and there I refuse to add another pill 💊 to my daily routine. Lastly, I love your boat analogy as I have been there and it does seem like youth was slipping away at times. Happiness is just as you described it...I find it in my family! ❤️

Geez, your weight story is just like mine. Never a weight problem, could just cut back a little and would be back to my normal. Hit 60 and started gaining about 5 lbs a year also. Nothing I did worked. Went on various diets, eliminated gluten, dairy. Ate Whole Foods etc. Nothing. Finally found water aerobics and it started to work. Still working on it but feel better in my clothes. I wondered about happiness too! Always thought is would be a constant state of mind. Like a happy marriage. A happy life. Yeah not so much that but realized happiness is in moments. Your face in the sun, your dog’s smiling eyes, laughing with your friend, seeing your adult child being a good person. It took a long time for me to become aware of this and I am happier now.

I am 62 years old , 5' 8" and now weigh a whopping 195 lbs!! How could this happen?? I ask myself constantly. Looking in the mirror I can't believe its really me, I refuse to pose for pictures with the family. So sad! But after watching your videos, I am determined to go back to my healthy eating habits, walking again for exercise. Thanks for sharing your story, Susan. I have lost 30 pound in the past, by just walking 2 miles each day with my dog and eating sensibly. But the dog got old and died and I just got lazy. But no more!! Gonna get back on track once again. BTW I find happiness in just being...quiet listening to birds, seeing geese in the park, the smile of my grandbabies, sitting on a beach. Thanks for sharing your story, Susan, you are making a difference in many people right here, right now. You are making people happy!!

I am on a current weight loss journey I am 55 and like you I just woke up one day and was sick of being overweight. My whole life I have battled food and believing this was me and I was never really going to be a normal size. But there are so many health issues that creep up that I did not want to define this second half of my life. The getting mad part was the spark for me to. All the things I have never done because of my weight. All the things I want to do that I can't because of my weight. I do feel finding the right diet for yourself is important and then making that transition in your head this is not a diet its a lifestyle. I am going to have to be on this healthy plan the rest of my life. I have lost 31 pounds since this past April. I have just added the intermittent fasting to the plan and I feel amazing. I have a lot of weight to lose and so I have set up targets and I am now 6 pounds away from my first target and I am thrilled. The most important thing I have to remember is that I have accomplished a huge goal and some days I can feel that old self sabotage working its way in --oh your still so overweight and you have so much to lose its never going to happen...and I now will switch that thought off and focus on all I have achieved and that desire to do the things I want to do and no cookie or potato chip is worth more than my desire. Congratulations on your weight loss! I know you will reach your goal! Thanks for sharing this!

Susan, your videos are always filled with so much beauty. I wish you all the best on your weight loss journey. You are really doing well. I think society makes us feel that as we get older we can not lose weight. I lost 25 lbs. and it took be about 7 months. That was 10 years ago and I have kept it off. I too was having health issues. It is not longer for vanity reasons, but for health. I am 66 years old and I do almost the same thing as you. I have my 8 hour window of eating. I eat almost the same thing everyday. Usually a smoothie in the morning, a nice salad at lunch time, and then fish, turkey, or chicken in the evenings. I always have a vegetable with my evening meal and either a baked potato or sweet potato. I am like you and I do what I know is working for me. I also weigh myself daily. My daughter told me to do that, and I believe that really is what keeps me accountable. Hugs and Love! Connie

Coffee and cream and pink sweetener will always be a part of my diet no matter what diet I am on!!!☺️
I have been eating low carb, moderate protein and moderate fat for almost two years now. This has been a good way of eating for me. I've had more success with curbing food cravings by eating this way and I have tried all the mainstream diets that you all have. I have found by trial and error that if l eat lighter for my last meal of the day it helps me maintain a stable weight. I usually have hot tea with cream at bedtime. Sometimes herbal, sometimes not. I froth the creamer in the cup before adding the tea from the teapot. It makes it kind of desert-ish.
I agree with my fellow Little Poet viewers....your Friday videos are delicious!

Awww Susan, I watch but rarely comment, I’m very proud of you and I totally agree that we should LOVE and enjoy our mealtimes. Lately, I’ve been trying to find better options now that I’m 61. Currently I found that chia pudding at breakfast, along with a green smoothie ( adding some collagen powder) has been amazing. I feel full and satisfied and my blood sugar doesn’t plunge. I’m enjoying those great salads and lots of my favorite veggies. It doesn’t have to be bad, there are ways to make things taste good. I try new recipes all the time and think, why did I wait so long to eat this? Wishing all the best to you, you look fabulous! xoxo

Substitution helps me the most when I’m trying to change habits. I’m bored and maybe I’m hungry. So I turn the music up loud and dance in my kitchen. I’m sad and maybe a little depressed. I put on my favorite hat, take a walk and speak to and smile at everyone I pass. We can all find the things that help us through the rough patches of our lives. BIG CONGRATS on your weight loss!!! It's a journey!!! Keep up the super job, I know you will!!!
As for me, I used to be a bit taller, but am now your EXACT height. I have had ups and downs my whole life, but for the past 15 years or so have kept my weight pretty constant and am now on the lower end, 119. I eat pretty much like you, somewhat IF, never eat after dinner and started out with Atkins a long time ago, now pretty much Keto as well as fairly low calorie. I eat a salad pretty much every night, but it is raw cabbage. The only suggestion I might make to you is what I LOVE to drink is Great Value Low Sodium Club Soda with just a touch of Pom Juice and ice. It is very cheap! You could add lime juice to it!!
Anyway, so interesting hearing what you are eating, and you are doing SO WELL, loved seeing the pics at the end so GREAT!!!!

I’m so glad that you’re taking charge of your health.. At least the part that you can control. I did the same thing 2 years ago (weight watchers) and went from having high blood pressure, diabetes and and enlarged liver from excess fat to now having almost low blood pressure, normal blood sugar and liver enzymes within normal limits!! I feel so much better and have more energy now.. I lost over 40 pounds and I am committed to never going back. For me, the key to this is tracking what I eat every day. Being accountable. Not depriving myself of anything but not indulging at every meal or every day.. And I eat food I really enjoy.. I loved the picture of Chris.. It really is all about our family, isn’t it? I’m thrilled that you’re giving your family, and yourself the gift of you being as healthy as you can be.. xoxo. Sue
