My wife and I just flew Allegiant. I bought a special bag for my personal item. I paid for a carry on. I will fly them again and will use my backpack as my personal item. Nobody checked the dimensions of my personal or carry on item. The best part about Allegiant is “direct non-stop”.
I agree, they did not question my carry on or overhead bags. HOWEVER< they cancelled my return flight, and then cancelled the next flight I re-booked on too!!!! I had to eventually fly back in to LAX (a horrible place to be) and have my son drive in major traffic to get me. It also cost me extra to get home ($356.00 Vs the original $98). Luckily, my friend was okay with having me the extra days. Yikes, not sure I'd use them again!
Hi I have this same blue suitcase it’s called an under seater bag everyone says it fits as a personal bag on. Spirit airlines and possibly the airline that you flew on
We went in a 12 day Mediterranean cruise 9 yrs ago. When we got to Barcelona, we picked up someone else's luggage by mistake. Didn't notice until we were on board the ship and just pulled away from port. I opened up the luggage and said...whose clothes are these??? we did without most of our clothes. This is when I learned that I can pack light. Now I only use a carry on suitcase wherever we go. I use compression bags for all my clothes. Like you mentioned, summertime you can pack lighter clothes. Winter time, not so much, but I still manage to get it all in a carry on!
I'm older than you, and I travel with an under seat spinner(4 wheels) . I do this because I find a carry bag too heavy...?.this can also be used as a cane if necessary! All in all, I find this an easy way to mix and match a limited wardrobe.
What brand and style do you use for the underseat bag? I’m 62 yrs old and 5’9” so I don’t have a problem reaching the overhead bins, but with Lupus, I’m now unable to lift my luggage over my head and don’t want to be that person who has to ask other passengers for help.
The teal colored one is an American Tourister, the SMALLEST size for overhead. I think I got it at Kohls (with a 30% off coupon) and its SO small it's really only good for a few days....unless you are forced to pack light, as I was for this trip!
I agree, it was tight in that small suitcase, but never having flown with them I was so nervous they would say it was too heavy or make me take something out! More difficult returning since I bought a few things!
You are just a bright light. You have. Sparkling personality. Your family and friends and blessed to have you.
Thank you so much, you have just added the sparkle to my day!
Thank you for posting this! I’m looking at a similar situation and you’ve taken the pressure of my shoulders!
You are so welcome! Let us know what you wind up doing.
Try a travel vest or jacket from scottevest
Love that idea!

OH NO! Did you ever get your own suitcase back?
Love this
So, if you’d taken a carryon, it would cost the same as the entire flight!

For 3 weeks, why didn't you just UPS some clothes to Montana in advance?
In hind sight, I wish I had!
Please where did you buy your suitcase

@@TamaraKaye2020 thanks!!!
Thanks for the great tips, including the airline! Hope you have a fabulous trip!
I leave this week, so I'm hoping all goes well, I'll keep you posted!
I'm eager to hear your impression of the airline!
I had never heard of compression bags for travel but what a great idea. I'm ordering some right now!
You should! There are numerous styles, I just have small easy to use ones. they also have the kind you use the vacuum to suck out the air!
I would have gotten my money’s worth & used a true roller board (22x14x9) & not the underseater (18x14x8) like you did!!
