I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your not having an introduction! You went right into explaining and giving the lesson. Thank you so much!
Best tutorial on the use of flatten
Just found your channel today 11/26/22 and this will be my new happy place. THX🙂
Welcome!
Thank you Bethany for easily explaining the flatten feature in Design Space. It does make so much more sense now!
I am so glad this helped clarify flattening!
This tutorial is very convenient as I have just bought my Maker to accompany my new Joy. Been wanting to create stickers for my granddaughter! Thank you Bethany! 💜
Wonderful! You will do great! I also have a sticker tutorial on my channel, if you want to watch that too!
I am so glad that I found your channel you explain so clearly
Thanks Bethany, this was very helpful.
This was very helpful. Thank you.
I want to say that I really enjoy your videos and have learned so much already by watching them. Thank you
I am so glad! Thank you for taking the time to tell me that! So happy to hear this!
Thank you for another great clear tutorial.. I just bought a cricut and trying to learn.
I’m so glad you’re finding my tutorials helpful! Congratulations on your new Cricut!
Thanks for this tutorial. I love the way that you explain things.
You're so welcome!
Thank you! That opens up lots of possibilities!
It really does! There are even more possibilities now!
Very interesting - I have a Joy and wondered about the greyed out buttons
Yes! I wondered that too, as the buttons weren't grayed out on my other machines!
I do this so much, I love it and you explained it so easily!
Yes, I love this button! It's so helpful!
Thank you 😊
Thank you again! You are so helpful in learning how to use my machines!!
I am so glad, Jan! It's so much easier to craft when you learn a little more about all that these machines (and software) can do! I am still learning myself!
Love this video
This makes so much sense now - thank you!☺️
You're welcome, glad this helped!
Thank you so much for highlighting~
You're very welcome!
Hi Bethany - this was very informative - Thanks for sharing..!!
You're welcome, glad you liked it!
I am so glad that i found your page. You do a great job in explaining everything. Keep up the grat work. I been having issues when I do permanent vinyl have any suggestions on this?
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you ☺️ x
You’re welcome!
Very good tutorial, haven't used the flatten technique yet. Would've been helpful to see the end result of the printed design and then the cut out image.
Be sure to check out my entire playlist on print then cut projects to see more. The purpose of this video was to be short and sweet to cover Design Space features.
Great to know info.!
Thank you, Lori-Jo!
I am trying to send an image to printer with a design. When flatten my words disappear? How do I fix this? I am trying to print & cut the entire image with words and white background. Then Iron it on fabric. I watched your tutorial for flatten as well and it was very good I learned some new things.
I wondered what flatten was for lol Thanks
Now you know! It's so useful, isn't it!?
hello thnk you for all you do
Thanks so much, and you're welcome!
Just flattening image is not going to stop it from cutting out each section since the grid lines are still seen (like inside the wheels, basket and bike bars), correct? How do I fix that?
I have been following you video on how to flattened a picture eg to make a sticker. I must be missing something as I can't use the flattened button at all. I have a joy. TIA
The Joy cannot do print then cut projects, so the Flattening button is not available for the Joy in Design Space. Hope that helps!
Can you use the flatten feature for vinyl as well? I have a multi-layer SVG that I want to cut out as just one layer
Use printable vinyl
What if I want the black outline of the image to print with it?
No matter what I do I can’t get it to flatten. I do “ select all” in cricut design space. But the flatten option won’t light up to be able to click it
Hi Bethany! I had kind of asked you about this previously so I apologize that I'm still confused! I have a Cricut Joy and I tried to upload an image and it was just black and white, nothing near as complex as the bicycle you have pictured, it was just the Colorado symbol, and I kept getting the warning that the Joy could not print it. I Saved it as a cut image but it made the picture have all these weird outlines. I guess I'm wondering how I can upload an image that just has simple lines inside of it, like the Colorado "C". I feel like if it could cut the bicycle in this tutorial it could definitely do that! I hope this makes sense! Thanks for all the help you always give!
It’s hard to know what’s happening. It could be the type of file your trying to upload, but it’s hard for me to help with this one. I like to use SVG files for cut images. :)
I have a joy but I'm just wondering if you flatten that image could you then draw it.
Hi Mandy! You would actually set a cut file to “draw” instead if you’d like the image to be drawn with the pen. The flattening is specific for print then cut. I hope this helps! Great idea with drawing!
my cricut will cutout every triangle in the wheels lol what am i doing wrong
Can I slice a flattened image?
I don’t believe so.
Hello, I know this is from 2 yrs ago. My question is, how do you retain the sharpness of the cut image when you flatten it out. I notice that when you flatten an image, the black outline disappears. I have a technique but it takes time. Maybe you have a better way to do it. Thanks
I'm trying to figure that out too!
@@Jess-ej2fq hello there. Thought I'd share what I do. I make an offset for each layer, the thinnest I can apply. That way even after flattening it out, the black outlined is still there. Hope that makes sense.
Hi, I just want to clarify, the print & cut works on even the Explore One (what I have). Wish I had been able to afford the Air when I bought the Explore, but had to get what I could then, and afterward added the Bluetooth adapter. Waiting for this fall to see what is new before deciding if I should upgrade. I bought the Joy in March.
Congrats on your Joy! I am not sure about the Explore One, since I am not familiar with that machine and it was around before I started with Cricut. The easiest way to find out is to try to do a print then cut file in Design Space and see if it is compatible with your machine selection!
@@Bethadilly I have done print and cut with my machine. It is slower than the Air2, and I only have 1 tool holder (more changing if marking or scoring) but it does the job.
If it’s not compatible, you will see a yellow triangle alert come up in the layers panel that says it’s not compatible with your machine. Just make sure your particular machine is selected in your canvas, when trying! That way you can try before buying any materials!
Oh good! I thought you were asking if it could do it! Yay!
@@Bethadilly I love your direct way of teaching, by breaking down the process into steps we can see and follow. I just wanted those with older machines to know they can still do a lot of the projects. Thanks!!
You said that we can print it on HTV. IF THAT IS SO. The bike will be 1 color RIGHT? Which would be the color of the HTV?
If you wanted to use regular HTV, you would use the image on the left (a cut file) and it would cut out individual layers on different colors of HTV. Hence, all the layers involved in an unflattened image. If you were to print this on Printable HTV, you would use the image on the right and it would print all the colors as one layer that it was flattened to. Flattening creates Print Then Cut images.
HTV stands for heat transfer vinyl right? So if I use it as print and cut. Then I would have to use. HEAT TRANSFER PAPER ? I never Hurd of doing both on HTV before.
When I flatten, my design (labels) vanish!: Why???
