Hey everyone, I read this comment (as well as the replies) and wanted to share something that I hope y'all will find to be interesting/encouraging: "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man" (Psalm 118:8).
"Which one is it? Is his big contract an 'albatross', or is he good enough to get maximum value?" It's both. At his age, $55M at 35 is simply too much seeing that we're not certain who he'll be by then. Steph Curry? Maybe. Maybe not. But you can't ignore what he brings now. He has a lot of value, and he's done so much for this franchise. Look at what Wizards fans got from the Bradley Beal trade. They're incensed! Bradley Beal had a lot of value, but he was the biggest 'albatross' in sports history.
I think both contracts suck because of how old they'll be near the end of the contracts. The new CBA really screwed things up in how teams can afford players.
Working in the media is covering the news and maintaining your relationships. You have to play along to get along. The higher you are in the food chain, the more sources and relationships you have. Woj (and all journalists) is protecting his sources and relationships. But at the end of the day, you have to be fair to the people you're covering. All in all, you should take all news with a grain of salt until it's confirmed by the organization, player, or agent. Otherwise, it's just speculation and rumors - especially in sports media.
I agree with both of you. The media is ultimately a business rather than a method of truth-telling, but as a result it's silly to read the news assuming its completely unbiased.
Yep. Obviously MJ is who he is, however I have always felt like Kareem gets cheated out of the goat debate due to this right here. He was not media friendly , Jordan was ( and ot course was an amazing player) and ppl tend to downplay the effects the media can have on a players perception
Sounds similar to wrestling journalism and Dave Meltzer. He is a “journalist” who rates wrestling matches. Meltzer is friends with most of the AEW roster and WWE is not banning him but Meltzer is not allowed access to the WWE. Meltzer gives more favorable reviews to AEW. He will rank AEWs average to bad stuff almost higher than the WWE’s best stuff. It sounds similar to the NBA and other sports.
Kobe wanted to go to Chicago if they could keep Luol Deng in Chicago. There was a trade for Kobe to go to Cleveland for Lebron. That whole trade demand Kobe did, was either you trade me or get me the help I need for the organization to win rings. Dame is doing it differently. He wanted to trade the pick and get someone better than CJ McCollum and LaMarcus Aldraidgr to win a ring. They chose to take Scoot and all was history. He's in the whole, get me a ring or trade me. The thung with the Lakers in 07 was that they were one piece away from winning it all and they got the piece in Pau. The Blazers have always been 4 or 5 pieces away and when they traded CJ, they were now 7 pieces away. 2014-2015 was their best shot until Wes Matthews went down with the Achilles injury. After that season, LA left for the Spurs, Batum left for the Hornets, Matthews left for the Mavs, and Dame was left with a young CJ who broke out the next season. That's why 2018-2019 was their deepest run since 2014-2015. They always never had the correct players.
@@jayherbogamingif Roy didn't get injured Blazers likely wouldn't have that draft pick to draft Lillard, but if Aldridge didn't leave perhaps they would win a championship at some point.
those days never never ever ever existed in even a small part. watch or read coverage from any of the past thirteen decades and it only gets worse and worse the more you go back in time. the feeeling you're having is legitimate but it's the feeling of having greater awareness and scrutiny applied. But just like we think society has gotten less safe for kids, the opposite is the overwhelming truth of the matter. Things have gotten better. People had the brains of sheep until the internet, based on my observations before and after. Our standards and smarts raised even faster than the quality of the media to consume, though. Dude... Ever since I've seen this video, I've watched Woj to see if there was any merit to your claims. And wow you are soooo right that guy is a total sellout! I cannot trust one word that comes outta his mouth again. He's absolutely crucifying Harden right whilst simultaneously worshipping the owners and the league. It's quite disgusting actually.
Lillard is not on the Heat because their offer is utter garbage and Dame is a Top-75 all time player, who is arguably the greatest clutch player in NBA history. If Dame had demanded a trade to Brooklyn, who is a contender and actually has DESIRABLE assets, it would have already happened. The Heat's cupboard is almost bare and Riley is clearly lowballing us. It has zero, ZERO to do with media, and everything to do with business these are billion dollar corporations for god sake, not easily swayed fans of the game.
I think woj’s reporting would be more acceptable if his biases were more clearly stated/known. Yes, all hardcore nba news followers knew for years woj is a front office mouthpiece, but for most people there is no reason not to trust woj unconditionally as they are unaware of his past/associations. In the opposite direction, shams clearly gets most of his info from the players and their agents, but also goes on podcasts and says he has groupchats with the players, talks to them on their podcasts (like kd’s etc), and is fairly open about his biases/potential sources. Often times in atheltic articles shams will even straight up say “___ told me.” Ultimately, for the fans, I think it is good for the nba to have 2 different perspectives on information inside the league (shams primarily with the players, and woj with the owners).
the owners don't warrant an additional mouthpiece. every other mouth spends half their breath fearing or revering them already. and they hold the cards. the media is supposed to be the fourth estate, the one for the people to hold the power to account. turn off ESPN forever. i watched it daily for over 35 years and haven't missed it a bit the last five or so since I cut the cord.
2:14 you’re kinda sorta wrong here, Lebron and Wade were both thinking of joining Rose in the Windy City, if I’m not mistaken New York was also a consideration due to trynna play with Carmelo
You dudes are so naive. The Blazers do NOT want to trade Damian Lillard, they are just saying so to look good to the public. This is the way they will make it VERY hard for him to find another team…and they won’t look like they did it. Wake up.
Because they know at the end of the day, they're going to have to trade him to the heat, or get really messy and hold him hostage on the bench, and they're bitter about that. Dames an MVP level talent, whatever woj says won't hurt his value - Dame outright refusing to be traded anywhere but Miami is what destroyed his market. This is a front office who is on record lying repeatedly to Dame in order to lock him into an extension and instead drafted his replacement, and are trying to auction their best player in franchise history to the highest bidder. They're snakes, they're mad, and they want the positive PR and to make Dame look bad.
To be fair on the situation - Both Dame, his team, The Blazers and Woj are absolutely being toxic and one sided as possible. But Woj saying what Dame's Agent and even Dame himself has admitted publicly multiple times now is doing by calling other teams, and doing everything possible to tamper with the situation is factual and easily verifiable.
Let's not get it twisted: Dame wants out because he's stayed in for longer than he should have. Dame's biggest mistake was trusting that Blazer management wanted to build a conference-level franchise. When it became clear Portland had no interest in actually improving the team to contend in the playoffs, Dame decided he wanted out. When a superstar's fan base is _NOT_ mad that said superstar is requesting a trade to a contender, the team's front office has clearly misread the room. Look at any star-level player who returns to their old team in a new uniform. If the fans boo, the player is the problem. If the fans cheer, the front office is the problem. Using reporters like Woj to sway public opinion by writing editorials and presenting them as articles is the sign of a weak franchise and a compromised relationship between NBA ownership and sports media.
@@NeilTruick Though you're right, my point still stands. Both sides are idiots in this whole situation, and both are dealing with it in the most immature and toxic way possible. The fan base here in Portland is actually quite split on their feelings about Dame. While most of us agree that ownership and front office have been incompetent for at least a solid decade, about half of us recognize how toxic, immature and plain vindictive Dame and his team are being. We also see he intentionally chose to screw the team over long term by exploiting the situation by relying on the front office's incompetency to ensure he got his good bud his overpay (Jerami) before he knew ahead of time he was going to demand his trade from the team. That's a massive "fuck you" to the franchise AND the fan base long term. And it is not some BS headline by the team and Woj when it comes to Dame and his agent calling all other teams and literally tampering to enforce their way, nor is it when Dame literally said he's going to "ruin" the team if they trade him anywhere other than Miami. Again, both of these things are very easily verifiable to the average person. That puts a very bitter and nasty taste in many of us fans' mouths for good reason, and has ironically worked to damage his own reputation with us rather than the franchise, since with Portland, there's no reputation to ruin in the first place. The team's reputation has long since been in the grave. There will never be any excuse or defensible reasoning to a person acting this way and pulling that kind of shit. Ever. Doesn't matter how terribly the franchise is ran and if you're all but ignored of your wishes or demands. It does not give the excuse to be so toxic, immature, vindictive and petulant about it.

Woj is just a reporter, his power and influence comes from getting scoops and affecting the narrative of the audience. I highly doubt Blazers or Miami base their decisions on what Woj says wtf.
This is the best video I've ever watched on your channel, and that's saying something. I had no idea about any of this, but it's not just the NBA. The media in general have agendas. The general public has no idea, they just see what's reported and roll with it. For example, a local bar here in town has had multiple shootings/stabbings with physical injuries, but there is not one news story about it. On the other hand, a competing bar had an accidental misfire out in the parking lot & it was front page news with people calling for license. It is just crazy to me, and your video opened my eyes to it on a larger scale... just how much money/power/corruption can influence the general public.
I don’t get the point of this video. If WOJ is only getting information from one source, why wouldn’t he do his job and report it? 😂. Also even if the Blazers are his source what does it matter? He is saying the obvious which is that Miami does NOT have the assets necessary to acquire Dame.
the barbie drama has been over sold. are there leftist agendas being pushed? yes. is it enough to ruin the movie? fuck no. my daughter had a great time watching it.
He can always opt out of his contract right? He could have signed for a shorter contract, and left in free agency. He made himself a martyr by not including a notrade clause but is indirectly enforcing it.
Yup he chose to resign his last contract and the extension for a premium price even though he’s seen Portland fail to build a contender around him. The signs were there but he chose the money.
He can't opt out of his contract. And only 10 players have ever had a no trade clause in the history of the league. I don't like the trade demand trend but this is the 'modern NBA.'
I dont blame woj, dame demanding to be traded to one single city took seriously every ounce of leverage. The whole situation is terrible for portland fans
At least he pointed out how Klutch has media people constructing narratives to take blame off Lebron. Kind of amazing that he doesn't see that Klutch has also been paying people like Nick Wright and Kendrick Perkins.
@@shivamloy5851Dame is not Ben Simmons or James Harden. He is loyal and will still play even if he’s not traded. Dame is the complete opposite of Ben Simmons. Dame loves his team still even if he wants to leave. He is the most loyal dude in the league for years and stayed in Portland for more then a decade. Dame is 100% still gonna play even if he doesn’t get traded.
yeah he is not Ben Simmons or James Harden, but rumors spread that he would sit out if he stayed at portland and didn't get traded. Plus, why would he stay in portland?
Dame has all of Miami and Chris Haynes openly rooting for Dame to go to Miami, while Woj is somehow blocking a trade. How? Did Woj buy the Blazers? Is he the GM? Or is he somehow blocking it by... saying what the Blazers want him to report? Just like Haynes and the Miami media can't force Cronin and the Blazers to trade Dame to Miami (or, indeed, at all), Woj can't block a trade. Especially since it's nonsensical that he'd be blocking anything by making them do something they want to do. And it's ENTIRELY LOGICAL that his contract would be an albatross at age 36, but... he's not 36. So it's not necessarily an albatross yet. Such a weird anti-Woj diatribe here. And I don't see how Dame "exposed" anything. Click-bait title with no logic throughout.
Also I don't see how it's crazy anti-Dame slander to call his contract potentially an albatross at 36. He's going to be paid an absurd amount of money for that age, I think most people would agree with that sentiment regardless of how they feel about Dame as a player now or whether the trade is good for Miami.
It show Woj's bias in his reporting. He says that Dame's contract is an albatross, but also says that he is good enough to get maximum value. Woj is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Did you not watch the video?
Dame isn't on the Heat because the Blazers don't want 3 super later FRPs and a guard that'll come off the bench but be paid close to 30 million a year. Btw. Doesn't Dame have a reporter who basically puts out whatever Lillard tells him to?
Didn’t Woj get a lot of info from the Clippers front office aswell? It could make sense if Woj is also trying to steer him away from Miami for that reason
To be honest, the only thing Dame Lillard is not doing these days is getting traded & honestly it’s getting too long this trade Damian Lillard is definitely getting traded by September
Then Miami better put an offer that isn't a dumpster fire on the table unlock that 2024 pick, and get FRP's for Herro and Martin. Miami picks suck, Miami's youth is marginal or redundant. Miami's package as has been offered, sucks, if it was good Dame would be on the Heat already.
If that was gonna happen, Riley would have gotten the 2024 unlocked and wouldn't have rushed to sign Jaquez. Riley and Goodwin played dirty pool and it blew up in their faces.

What you just described is exactly what is wrong with the media.
@@roboninja3194 I'm curious, what exactly is that?
I agree with both of you. The media is ultimately a business rather than a method of truth-telling, but as a result it's silly to read the news assuming its completely unbiased.
Yep. Obviously MJ is who he is, however I have always felt like Kareem gets cheated out of the goat debate due to this right here. He was not media friendly , Jordan was ( and ot course was an amazing player) and ppl tend to downplay the effects the media can have on a players perception
This is old news, but the more people that know about him the better. He should keep getting exposed.
The TRUTH above everything else! Bless u man
Sounds similar to wrestling journalism and Dave Meltzer.
Lillard's situation reminds me of Kobe in 2007 when he wanted to be traded to specifically the Bulls
But he spent that summer going on shows expressing his desire to leave. Lillard hasnt done the tour yet.
@@lakerfan2874 they would've won one by now if Brandon Roy never got injured
@@jayherbogaming He was always gonna be injured. He had degenerative arthritis in his knees. Just like with Greg Oden, he wasn't gonna stay healthy.
@@jayherbogamingif Roy didn't get injured Blazers likely wouldn't have that draft pick to draft Lillard, but if Aldridge didn't leave perhaps they would win a championship at some point.
I miss the old days when reporters only reported news, not like those who create news.
Never existed. You think woj invented media favoritism?
Good ol days
those days never never ever ever existed in even a small part. watch or read coverage from any of the past thirteen decades and it only gets worse and worse the more you go back in time. the feeeling you're having is legitimate but it's the feeling of having greater awareness and scrutiny applied. Walter Cronkite was like Woj except talking about more important things more falsely. People just don't do the work to keep track of how utterly dumb even the smartest of us were forty and fifty years ago. We have the feeling it's gotten worse and less trustworthy. But just like we think society has gotten less safe for kids, the opposite is the overwhelming truth of the matter. Things have gotten better. People had the brains of sheep until the internet, based on my observations before and after. Our standards and smarts raised even faster than the quality of the media to consume, though. So it feels like this relative loss.
I can't understand why people are just getting this ugh. For years have been baffled by the respect he gets when it has been beyond obvious what's up 🙄
This isnt just about basketball this video provides great insight in how media in general is manipulated
Fox Fix News network was exposed in federal court for constantly lying about 2020 election. They were forced to pay over 1.6 billion dollars to Dominion Software, and they fired one of their popular liar Tucker Carlson. They are still lying though to get ratings. 😎😌😟😐😹😸
You'd think after fans see this kind of stuff they would stop listening to and repeating stuff they hear from espn, FS1, etc. But nope.
And also people in general can’t think for themselves/have been conditioned not to during childhood
Great video revealing NBA media corruption… yet still CLICKBAIT that revealed nothing advertised, regarding Dame exposing Woj.
You should have considered Woj's role in Ime Udoka's situation. Before Boston's announcement, he already tweeted about it.
He only tweeted about it after Shams did.
I can't believe Woj makes 7m dollars a year to do what he does😅I mean I ain't hatin'...i'm just saying. He is good at tweeting, 'tho. And looking nervous on camera🤡
That’s what I’m saying 😂
@@peacefulwarmingmeditation8085 yeah 'bro. Like if he were an independent content creator, employing others, built himself up and pulled others up with him along the way...that is solid. But ESPN gives him a 35m dollar contract to be on his phone and an NBA "insider?" Lol...
@@jdh9676 That is how the world works man and in many industries it is about the connections you build and how you market yourself along the way. It may be difficult for others to do this but if you want to get most or even overpaid or so over others this is usually what is done. This applies to many industries.
Bro, great job. Love your research and none bias views.
One of the best videos I've seen from your channel for sure. High High quality content and diligence with research shows
How exactly did Damian Lillard expose Woj? Did this video address that?
not really
You got clickbaited
Dude.
U have the best NBA content and Info. Much love from Australia
Woj is the worst kind of reporter tbh..
Get a clue.
Why would the blazers want WOJ to bad mouth Dame when their trying to get more for him? Makes no sense to me.
Holes in this guy's angle.
As far as ESPN goes, I'd rather hear from Lowe, or Windhorst. 🤷♂️🏀✌
Deep dive into the dark world of NBA reporting. Appreciate your work, Casey🙏🙌
I’m getting tired of this so-called reporters thinking they are the STORY.
OK woj
Awesome work. Thank you for having integrity as a journalist.

The best Am Hoops report ever!! Nice work!!
I dont even pay attention to mainstream nba media anymore
I like your reporting because its motivated by the reporting on the NBA, not by generating profits for the NBA as a business. This it doesn't seem loaded with hype or Manipulative.
WTH!? $35M over 5 years? Woj has a bigger contract than Westbrook. 🤣
Woj is just a reporter, his power and influence comes from getting scoops and affecting the narrative of the audience. I highly doubt Blazers or Miami base their decisions on what Woj says wtf.
This video is insanely insightful
Yo Kasey watch out you’re next on Woj’s hitlist
Hey, Casey. I remember when u were chasing 100k. Way to go, Bro!
Anytime millions of dollars are involved, shit gets real.
I don’t get the point of this video. If WOJ is only getting information from one source, why wouldn’t he do his job and report it? 😂. Also even if the Blazers are his source what does it matter? He is saying the obvious which is that Miami does NOT have the assets necessary to acquire Dame.
Dame is slandering his own name with his 360 demand.
Amazing content, your channel is underrated!
What a bunch of Barbie drama.
the barbie drama has been over sold. are there leftist agendas being pushed? yes. is it enough to ruin the movie? fuck no. my daughter had a great time watching it.
Corruption in sports reporting. Wild stuff.
No, he definitely can't do that
I dont blame woj, dame demanding to be traded to one single city took seriously every ounce of leverage. The whole situation is terrible for portland fans
@1:42 at least he got that right about LBJ
Yes he certainly did. Can't say stuff like that publicly now though because the LeCultists will come after you.
arguable most clutch player oat but sure
Portland doesn't need help not trading Dame. Dame gave them all the leverage by signing that supermax extension.
2 minutes in and I see no lies from Woj about Bron
At least he pointed out how Klutch has media people constructing narratives to take blame off Lebron. Kind of amazing that he doesn't see that Klutch has also been paying people like Nick Wright and Kendrick Perkins.
The NBA punished Wog by giving him a plush VP job .
Love your story telling lol just subscribed
I remember Rose calling out Woj, and now he fired
I came here to hear about Damian Lillard and ended up hearing about the whole league 😂 I love it!!
I think Dame might start of the season with the Trailblazers.
Same, I think Dame will be traded in the trade deadline. Kind of like what happened with Kevin Durant
I think he will not want to play, and sit out for the blazers, until the is traded somewhere he want
@@shyjr3215 thats why he requested a trade lamo he's gonna sit out
yeah he is not Ben Simmons or James Harden, but rumors spread that he would sit out if he stayed at portland and didn't get traded. Plus, why would he stay in portland?
This would make a fine hbo series
Yup!
Also I don't see how it's crazy anti-Dame slander to call his contract potentially an albatross at 36. He's going to be paid an absurd amount of money for that age, I think most people would agree with that sentiment regardless of how they feel about Dame as a player now or whether the trade is good for Miami.
facts AM Hoops is just click bait
It show Woj's bias in his reporting. He says that Dame's contract is an albatross, but also says that he is good enough to get maximum value. Woj is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Did you not watch the video?
Well said
Dame isn't on the Heat because the Blazers don't want 3 super later FRPs and a guard that'll come off the bench but be paid close to 30 million a year. Btw. Doesn't Dame have a reporter who basically puts out whatever Lillard tells him to?
Expose him!
Wow very insightful. Keep at it.
I just got a 0 heat jersey
Didn’t Woj get a lot of info from the Clippers front office aswell? It could make sense if Woj is also trying to steer him away from Miami for that reason
To be honest, the only thing Dame Lillard is not doing these days is getting traded & honestly it’s getting too long this trade
Damian Lillard is definitely getting traded by September
He’s definitely right about lebron not being clutch. He gives up to much.
