I just painted my living room in Simply White. That includes walls and ceilings in flat. And trim and doors in semi. I painted one wall in Revere Pewter as an accent against the Simply White. I own a paint company. I've never loved Pewter, but it works really well against Simply White.
Great video. I had sampled Chantilly lace to go with my mid tone beige walls and off white kitchen cabinets. Way too bright and stark. I was worried about the yellow undertones before but now am looking at simply white or white dove. Do u have a go to off white trim paint for beige/griege walls?
Chantilly Lace is one of the brighter whites. For something more creamy you can try looking at White Dove, Cloud White or Ivory White. See which works best with your stone/counter tops etc. Hope that helps Mike!
painted kitchen cabinets white dove. Would you recommend walls be done in agreeable grey, or light French grey. Back slash and counter tops are white and island is a navy blue.
Hi Maria. I'm not familiar with French Grey, but Agreeable would work beautifully with the other paint colours you mention. Be sure to check it with your backsplash and counter to ensure it works well with them too!
I’m looking for a kitchen cabinet color that’s not real white because I have creamy tan tones on walls and trim. I want the paint color to go with not just my colors but could be used if a buyer wanted gray color scheme. My granite has a soft tan, black and gray in it now. Please help me out.
You will need to be careful when mixing creams and whites in order to work with both grays and warm tones. It's not impossible, but there are so many factors to consider and likely, various undertones. Ivory White and Cloud White are more creamy in tone, as opposed to fresher whites like Simply White or Chantilly Lace. Those both tend to work well with grays, but not always with warmer, 'earthier' hues. I recommend testing paint colours first on large colour boards. If you can, hire a local decorator or colour consultant to assist you. It's definitely worth the investment.

Hello...I am in the process of modernizing a oak coloured book shelf. I was thinking doing it a two tone where the back wall of book shelf would be black and then the rest white. What would be your recommendations on a black paint color and white. Just an FYI the wall beside bookshelf is done in BM silver satin. Thanks in advance!
Hi Swanie. Choosing a black is going to be easier than selecting a white in this situation. A nice black is Jet Black by Benjamin Moore or Farrow and Ball's Pitch Black. The white should relate to what you already have for your trim and ceilings. As you can see from the examples and information that I share in the video, not all whites are created equal so see if in your home if you need to go for more of a crisp white like Chantilly Lace or something creamier like White Dove. Good luck and cheers for watching.
Hi, am painting my walls stunington gray by Benjamin and the trims simply white, but I don’t know wt color should I paint the ceiling. Can you help me please? Thank you, also what would you pick simply white or cloud white. For trims and doors.
Hi there! I would paint the ceiling the same colour as your trim. Simply White works well with Stonington gray. Cloud white may work, but it's more creamy. So you need to consider what you've got going on in the rest of the house. Cheers for watching!
Thank you, you think white dove oc 17 would work better than simply white . am also trying to put trim in the ceiling therefore it can be the same color? Thank I appreciate your support.
Hi, would you have any suggestions for a white paint colour, not stark white, that would go in a foyer, up the stairs and all around the hallway upstairs? Doesn't get a lot of natural light going up the stairs and into the upper hallway, although it's a big space, though. Want fairly light but not too stark of a white. Will be painting the front cupboard door in black and all the way up the stairs there's black iron. FYI, a room beside the foyer is shaker beige. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!
Firmly committed to cavern clay as an accent wall. STILL struggling with deciding on an off white for the other 3 walls in the master bedroom. The room gets plenty of sun. Pure white? White duck? Origami? Any suggestions?
Although I don't have a large painted sample of Cavern Clay, I am familiar with the colour. Pure White is an Off White and I think it would work. Be sure to check first though!
Ok, please tell me, I decided to go with Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray for walls and simply white for trim, but if am also putting trim in the ceiling which I will color simply white like the bottom my question is what color should I used to paint my ceiling because the color it has right now is cream, should I also painted simply white? Thank so much
I think that's fine and when done right with well put together decorative items and room design, it can look quite exquisite. Just remember to do a different sheen for each application.

Hi Lynne. There is a big trend now with white paint, but that doesn't mean it is going to work in everybody's home. I want to be clear about this and give you a head's up because this is a mistake I see people making every time a new 'trendy colour' comes out. We saw people painting their homes gray over the past 5 years, but when the gray paint relates to nothing in their space, they then wonder why it doesn't look as good as it did in the magazine. So, please make sure that your home can handle all white, most cannot pull it off successfully by simply repainting their home with older finishes. But to answer your question, one of the brightest whites available is Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore.
If you want a warmer white, try white dove or cloud white. They are more creamy. I tend not to worry about the direction of the room, but rather check with the fixed elements and test the colours at different times of the day with large painted boards.
I live in a 1733 years old farmhouse that have beautiful cherry maple and recently over the years teak wood floors and trim molding were added to parts of the house. But, it seems today style is painting the wood trims and molding white. How can I keep the original wood style of wood, and maintain that fresh, clean neutral wall color. I like greys and white. Which grey and white would work for my house?
Because Cherry Maple tends to be quite red, you will have to be careful to go too fresh with a paint colour. Maybe something a little more 'muddy' looking like Revere Pewter or Pashmina by BM. Hard to say without seeing the finishes like backsplash or countertops.
Another great video.... hard to choose between White Dove and Simply White.....I have a lot of antiques and golden woods/oaks....warm shades....which would you recommend being safer pet?
I have a lot of oak furniture and flooring which to me is a warm color.....gold and Carmel colours (pillows) in room....so I am thinking that you may. be right after watching this video again that White Dove might be way to go....I will get a small can and do up a sample board first before jumping right in....thank you!!!
I have done up lots of sample board and placed them all around my living room. Did Simply White and White Dove....and although I can see green/grey undertones with the White Dove....it doesn't seem to be as bright as the Simply White and White Dove seems to be the right color. Thanks for suggestion.
Thank you for posting this! I am in the same boat. I am deciding on the same colors and I have a lot of warmer beige and camel colors in my house. Think I will go with White Dove.

Hi Susan. Although I don't have the SW chips to hand, by looking online at the colour, I believe it would work with Chantilly Lace. Therefore, you need to check with other fixed elements in your home if you want to paint your trim/ceilings that colour as it would be throughout the entire home.
