The swimming pools, lazy river, water slides, climbing wall, basketball court, etc. are all very nice, but the real innovation is that elevator/monorail combo. Get that thing working, and a lot of land-locked hotels, beachfront hotels, heck even shopping malls and yes, cruise ships, will be telling you to "shut up and take my money."
RCCL has fitted their older ships with rock walls and bungee trampolins for instance. The radiance class has self leveling pool tables, the most exterior glass of any ship of its size (this includes all the large Carnival ships). The radiance also has a from heliport, ocean facing glass elevators, large open atriums, exterior glass railings on the balconies, specialty restaurants, a solarium pool for adults only, an indoor/outdoor county club with golf simulator + all that other ships have
The rail car seems like it may be beneficial to older and handicapped passengers, as the larger new builds, specifically Oasis class and a ship such as this, present a significant disadvantaged to elderly and handicapped passengers. I don't see how people can insult this and say it looks boring since the video shows, literally, almost NONE of the ship's actual amenities.
To those who were wondering... Fincantieri put this rendering together just to see what Carnival would think of it. Carnival never requested this and they don't plan on building it anytime soon, if ever. They said the cost was too high and that such a big ship couldn't go to many ports of calls. That would affect them negatively because many people cruise to go to the various destinations and not just go on the ship. So unless the ship was a destination itself it wouldn't do well.
I have seen at least two comments saying that the stern is copied off of Oasis. IT IS NOT. This ship was being researched and designed before Oasis. Im not saying Oasis copied, but it is possible for two cruise lines to have the same idea.
sjnath is a smart person who has done some homework. Carnaval is a second rate cruise line. I have gone on Freedom (4500 guests) and the Voyeger Class (3500 guests), RCCL knows how to handle large amounts of peeps. You would'nt even know that many peeps were on board. The monorail is pretty cool, too bad that the only unique idea Carnaval had has been scrapped.

A retractable solarium roof (was done on ships of the 80's) A lazy river, now that's a new idea I haven't seen, kinda wierd though, being on a low deck with nothing else around it.
its really cool that theres like a walkway on the side of the ship like from 00:30 to 00:36 but that means that that walkway is taking up space and that the inside will be like tiny then!!!
U R right, its about what the ship has to offer its paying passengers! I think that Oasis can't be beat and it may have to do with the availible space on board. But when I see Carnival adding a rail car as a possible ammenity, I see that it is obviously being put of the ship for effect only. It really doesn't have a practical use. Going beyond that, they seemed to have made this element a "design focus"!! Kinda abserd to me!
Error: lack of sense of "togetherness". Being in the starboard outdoor deck, you may feel like just in one side of a big sea resort, without contact of any kind with the other port outside deck. I guess what is missing is some kind of connecting space, like sort of a big "hole" in the main body, to link those exterior decks visually. Look at the Oasis from RC: it doesn't feel too big because its exterior neighboorhoods are embedded into the main body, so they feel "common". And those cars...
Nice. Glad this video is back up in its entirety. I really can't figure out whether this is just a concept by Fincantieri, or if it is actually a preliminary rendering of something in the works for Carnival. For the size of ship, this is a pretty conservative design. That's one of the reasons I think it may have some legitimacy. If the economy hadn't taken a hit, we may have seen something like this sooner.

but in fact that's not carnival dream, that's the proto under construction (CARNIVAL BREEZE), it's a Dream-class cruise ship, currently being delivered and will be one of the latest of the Carnival Cruise Lines ships to enter the fleet, carnival is expecting to enter service in June of 2012...

If all of the cruise lines keep competing with each other to have the biggest ship in the world, pretty soon, they won't even be able to dock anywhere because they'll be so big! They need to keep it in moderacy.
It also has: Miniture golf a golf simulator a comedy club several jazz clubs several night clubs several speacilty restaurants giant casino boxing ring an herbal pool a 2 story vitality center a kids center that even has an area for babies interactive screens around the ship that tell you where you are, where your cabin is and even whats going on. @mikeyfaust I'm not sure how you were able to determine that the size of this ship is estimated to be bigger than the RCL Freedom class? Your right about the rock climbing (RCL did'nt get the copyrights quick enough). RCL, I would assume have them on many other items (skating rink, flowrider, zip line, Royal Promanade, high diving, merry-go-round, Central Park, Johnny Rockets, etc.)
Boy I really think that you to take another look at Oasis, I think that you missed a few things, i.e. zip line 2 flowriders 7 neiborhoods an aqua park (H2O zone) Ice skating rink 2 rock walls 4 pools including 1 dedicated to sports 4 story mall over 40 feet wide a bar that moves up and down between floors a huge adults only area cantilevered hot tubs a heliport on the bow an aqua theater with high diving performances an outdoor park with over 40,000 plants 2 story suites
Wether RCCL ownes the ship outright or not really doesn't have any bearing on it. I understand that RCCL is taking a chance on the occupancy rate of the ship, but with a ship like this its not much of a risk. The ship has now become the destination. Just think, with the introduction of the Oasis it forces Carnival ships to rely more on the itinerary and less on the ship. Their ships can not compete with RCCL. Then think of the carribean destinations, once seen one island you have seen most.

Ahh, the Carnival Pinnacle Class. Great ship, but ive heard the track system around the ship has been taken out. Too bad. They may have scraped this design because it wasnt supposed to be leaked. Many videos about this ship though.
I beg to differ, even if Carnival built this ship, they wouldn't even be close to being on top!! Carnival does not even come close to offering what RCCL has to offer. This ship, if built might, might, might compete with RCCL's Voyager Class, certainly not Oasis.
I do not work for RCCL. However I do read the news and love to go on cruises. I also have done some research and have gone on a Carnival cruise (going on 2 would just be a complete waste of money). RCCL spends more money on their technology, testing and ship design then Carnival. Carnival ships also tend to have a higher passenger to Ship weight (ton) percentage than RCCL which equates to less square footage per passenger then RCCL. Do a quick google search and you will see what I saying
It's not just that there big (duh), its the rest of the amenities!! Carnival Miricle is as big as The RCCL Radiance Class but has less cool things!! The Radiance has self leveling pool tables it also has the most exterior glass of any ship its size. it has glass elevators that face the ocean Shall I go on!! I haven't even been on the Radiance yet I know that its better than the ship I did go on, Carnival Miricle.
The cost to go on other RCCL ships have always been competitive with Carnival. The Oasis will be no different. The difference in cost between the two cruise lines has always been something that gets thrown in RCCLs face, but if you were to compare apples to apples there really is no difference. An inside cabin on a RCCL ship is the same price on a Carnival ship of the same size. I know you have worked on the ship, but I think I would know about the cost, I have cruised on both lines.
klause, Did you compare the Voyager class to the Dream?? The dream is 130,000 tons and the Voyager class is 132,000 tons. Tons equate to size. The freedom is 160,000 tons. Compare inside cabin to inside cabin and ships sailing the same itinerary at the same time of year. I'm really not sure you did your homework. I also have a family of 4. Make sure you are on similar decks as well. Once you do all this then let me know how you make out.
@cncorde4 Nuclear power is actually quite safe. You un-educated people would be surprised. The nuclear substances that take about 2000 years to become safe can be used as an adequate power source for just about that much time. The "waste" of nuclear power is not much more that that amount of diesel fuel. The risk of a melt-down is EXTREMELY unlikely.
@watagatapitusberry06 I know your so right, and he actually thinks that Oasis has more steel than the Carnival Owned Ocean Liner RMS Queen Mary 2, well QM2 has a thicker hull and will cut through the Oasis, she has a thicker hull because she is an Ocean Liner, built for the Atlantic Waters and Cape Horn, so its a tie Carnival and RCI are tied, anyway Carnival ordered 2 or 3 new ships for Princess Cruise lines that are 139,000 gross tons and they will surpass the Voyager class as the 4th Largest.
@tupsumato Covering pretty much the entire width of a ship with just the funnel is not really spacefriendly for the passengers up on deck. All that area could be used for many other things.

Maybe you don't appreciate it, but a lot of people that actually work for a living and would pay their way would like to know what their hard earned money is going to buy them. Once you get out of your parents house and actually pay your own way. you'll understand. Carnaval does not provide the same bang for your buck as RCCL.
@MovieWatcher986 I doubt the trolley would be useful because a ship that size could hold atleast 4000 passengers which means that thing would be crowded constantly and with people trying to get off at different stops it would be a disaster you'd probably end up being on it for an hour just to get to the other side of the ship with people stopping to get off and on I think you're better off walking unless you're handicapped or something
Furthermore, Carnival and Royal are very similar lines, regardless of what each of their respective fanboys say. Statistically, Carnival Corp is larger than Royal Carib. Corp (Carnival is the largest in the industry). You can't attack them in that aspect. Finally, I need to say that regardless of your preference, quoting lines from a Travel Channel show on cruising or from a company's press release is not legitimate material for bashing a line's competitor.
By the way, you should also check the ships population. Dream is going to be a very populated ship. Dream is second only to Oasis as far as occupancy with 3,646 vs Oasis 5,408 while Voyager class ships of camparable size to Dream have 3,100. Does the Dream have the ammenities of the voyager? and I don't consider a water slide an ameinty. I'm just not impressed by Carnival. Look at all the incedents they have had! I'm not going to risk my families safety.
All I'm saying is that people need to see beyond the innitial attraction that the rail car provides (again, because it seems to be something to take your mind away from any other elements this ship may or may not posses) and look at the big picture. u need to ask yourself Does the rail car enchance my cruising experience more then the list of items I listed for Oasis. If the answer is yes, then go on Carnival. But if u truely want to actually have a great cruise, go on RCCL.
HECK NO! Railcar's are you kidding me? A slide and a rail car is there idea of years of work?! Your kidding me right. I guess Royal Caribbean didn't put one in because they assumed people could walk -_- Carnival discount cruise line, if you want all those amenities you think are on this ship check out Oasis, or Voyager class, because Royal Caribbean's had this stuff for 11 years and just now Carnival decides to make a pathetic move to try and catch Oasis.

@abbithaaa I agree I mean did you see the video about the freedum ship way to big to be sea worthy it is possible to build and have the dream a reality but for a city on the water engines can only go so big and since we as humans are ubsesed with making things smaller and easyer to use an engine room for the freedum ship to actuely run would be bigger then anything we would have to resort back to having an engine room like the Titanic's only time ten it will never be sea worthy only dry dock
When I stated "incidents" I ment ones that could have been avoided by the the crew. Take for instance the latest incident where a Carnival Legend hit the RCCL Enchantment. The large kitchen fire on the Carnival Ecstasy that injured 60 people in 1998. The engine fire aboard the Carnival ship Tropical in 1999. (I'm sure there are others) Thats what I mean! This kind of stuff can be avoided I sure that there is crime occuring on your street right now. Crime will happen and does happen.

First of all, I'm not your honey!! It was Carnival Miracle and it was brand new when I went on it. Maybe you don't appreciate it, but a lot of people that actually work for a living and would pay their way would like to know what their hard earned money is going to buy them. Once you get out of your parents house and actually pay your own way. you'll understand. Carnaval does not provide the same bang for your buck as RCCL.
@MovieWatcher986 I doubt the trolley would be useful because a ship that size could hold atleast 4000 passengers which means that thing would be crowded constantly and with people trying to get off at different stops it would be a disaster you'd probably end up being on it for an hour just to get to the other side of the ship with people stopping to get off and on I think you're better off walking unless you're handicapped or something

Furthermore, Carnival and Royal are very similar lines, regardless of what each of their respective fanboys say. Statistically, Carnival Corp is larger than Royal Carib. Corp (Carnival is the largest in the industry). You can't attack them in that aspect.
Finally, I need to say that regardless of your preference, quoting lines from a Travel Channel show on cruising or from a company's press release is not legitimate material for bashing a line's competitor.
By the way, you should also check the ships population. Dream is going to be a very populated ship. Dream is second only to Oasis as far as occupancy with 3,646 vs Oasis 5,408 while Voyager class ships of camparable size to Dream have 3,100. Does the Dream have the ammenities of the voyager? and I don't consider a water slide an ameinty.
I'm just not impressed by Carnival. Look at all the incedents they have had! I'm not going to risk my families safety.
All I'm saying is that people need to see beyond the innitial attraction that the rail car provides (again, because it seems to be something to take your mind away from any other elements this ship may or may not posses) and look at the big picture.

Does the rail car enchance my cruising experience more then the list of items I listed for Oasis.
If the answer is yes, then go on Carnival. But if u truely want to actually have a great cruise, go on RCCL.

HECK NO! Railcar's are you kidding me? A slide and a rail car is there idea of years of work?! Your kidding me right. I guess Royal Caribbean didn't put one in because they assumed people could walk -_- Carnival discount cruise line, if you want all those amenities you think are on this ship check out Oasis, or Voyager class, because Royal Caribbean's had this stuff for 11 years and just now Carnival decides to make a pathetic move to try and catch Oasis.

@hahamc1 Technology advancement make it possible so don't judge too quickly. Once they said Oasis of the Seas is impossible to build when Freedom of the Seas sailed.
My biggest concern is if the trams on the ship fall.

@abbithaaa I agree I mean did you see the video about the freedum ship way to big to be sea worthy it is possible to build and have the dream a reality but for a city on the water engines can only go so big and since we as humans are ubsesed with making things smaller and easyer to use an engine room for the freedum ship to actuely run would be bigger then anything we would have to resort back to having an engine room like the Titanic's only time ten it will never be sea worthy only dry dock
holy crap carnival dream is nothing like oasis u cant compare them...however whoever cpu animated nd designed that did a good job

When I stated "incidents" I ment ones that could have been avoided by the the crew. Take for instance the latest incident where a Carnival Legend hit the RCCL Enchantment. The large kitchen fire on the Carnival Ecstasy that injured 60 people in 1998. The engine fire aboard the Carnival ship Tropical in 1999. (I'm sure there are others) Thats what I mean! This kind of stuff can be avoided

@RCCLDisney wow ya i was comparing vids nd stuff it seems R.C. is waaayy better cuz their ships r loaded with fun stuff i saw a walkthru on carnival dream and it seems all there is to do on that ship is sit around at all the clubs, bars, cafes, restraunts ecttt but i wudnt care id go on a cruise ship annyyy day
