My best run (and technically WR) of the Black Mesa Xen maps. Will be able to get sub 30 very soon due to discoveries made within an hour after this run :P -- Watch live at / alexh0w
Oh are you a dev? Come on man, if you want the game to be played don't fix speedrun glitches, those are the ones that keep active most games communities you know?
One bad memeory i have of interloper i had at least durring the beta is when I got to the lift with all of the nihilanth looking enemies and grunts and you have to use the blue proton pack (forgot the actual name of the weapon) then i got the no free edicts and i tried to fix it and i couldnt get it to run at all. I even tried a previous save and it refused to run. Crashed ti the desktop every time. I actually had to start the entire chapter over.
I’m not knowledgeable on speed running and I was wondering why saveloads or whatever they’re called are allowed? Surely it could be considered cheating since your health and ammo are replenished and it’s not part of the same continued game? Or am I missing something? Not trying to undermine anything since the run was amazing and I know I’ve seen the saveloading done in like every Source game run. Edit: Think I meant savedeleting. Also how tf can you play so good in sunglasses lol Another edit: How does it work anyway? The savedeleting?
Save deleting was voted on a really long time ago in the HL2 community and has kinda just been kept since. Some people do agree that it makes the game kinda worse, so don't feel alone! It's kinda just the way things have always been done, and in general, is what makes for the most interesting possible routes. The way it works is by creating a save that windows cannot save onto the pc. Because saves in these games are just .sav files in the Black Mesa folder, if you name the save something not allowed to be the name of a file in windows (In this case, we save to : [colon]). You can then use a "reload" command to have the game try to reload the most recently made save. Because it doesn't exist, it loads a default save instead. Thanks by the way, glad you enjoyed the run! :)
alexh0we Ah, thank you. That more than explains it. Yeah, I can understand the argument against it but I agree it clearly allows for more interesting routes and it makes for a damn good run. Well done again, man. Impressive af.
You know Black Mesa's Xen is amazing when its speedrun is longer than the whole Half-Life speedrun.
For now.
guess what! it no longer is, world record is 25:42
So it has begun... Black Mesa: Xen speedruns!
Fixed the gonarch ledge skip, because I'm evil.
Oh shit are you the reason there's all these messages about Dr. Horn and his pizza?
@@ethanlivemere1162 yes.
I don't blame you, that was a brush glitch, most of the rest of this isn't too crazy lol

@@Mario4736 That wasn't a speed run glitch, any player could get punted up and out of bounds there and get stuck. It was a reported bug.
U beat the entirety of Xen way faster than I could even pass the first Xen chapter
Who needs the Long-Jump module when you have the tau Cannon and 40mm grenades
Better than actually playing the xen levels
You should be recruited by SourceRuns
Pretty fun to watch, do you like how new jetpack operates?
What difficulty is this?
Also well done, man!
Easy
@@wowie_allie7404 so it's actually normal right? Because the difficult are named differently:
Easy -> Normal
Normal -> Black Mesa
Hard is still hard
@mario no, it's played on easy since he's playing on 0.91
good spedrun :D
Sunglasses - it's for more difficulty ? )

@@David-rd1lj Dude the fuck? man is just wearing sunglasses, yeah indoors but that doesn't really allow for that shit
good work!
You forgot the pizza
The game is quite dark and how can you play with sunglasses :)
