I dedicate this to an old family friend Victor murphy {charlie} Gone before his time But not forgotten. He was great on the whistle and loved this tune......

so beautiful.. I've never heard this version before.. I heard Tarafolk play this back in '84 and have totally loved it. the second version I heard, which was hauntingly beautiful, was 2 yrs ago, by Charlie and the bhoys. The poem was lovely but the music took me on a voyage, over stormy seas with the gulls..It was an absolute pleasure to listen to :-)
I haven't heard this in years. The last time was in a pub in Cork in 1996. It brings tears to my eyes when played with the low whistle. Thank you for sharing this most beautiful of tunes.
Thinking of you DAD n Mlssing u RIGHT, oh dad how I need you beyond the grave you will never know ,yours Jane s u called me but me I'm Jenny alwaysdad I'll miss u and need you more than you know.
UK 35 ''Sola Gratia'' once rode the waves of the Doggersbank, cut through the high seas near the shores of St Helier and Sark, while the sun made rainbows in the spray and the white water glistered like snow against the deep blue and green sea. Spreading out her nets, with a prayer to God above, hauling in silver fish. Working on the tilting deck while the sun sank beneath the horizon, singing songs and pslams with the rest of the men cheerfully, for this was bread for the ones we had left ashore, a wedding dress for the oldest daughter, a new bicycle for the youngest son. "Sola Gratia'' was her name. Every part of her bright red panted body spoke'' reap the wild wind.'', ''ride the high waves'', ''forward, forward, mates of Peter and sons of Zebedee.'', ''at the end of your voyage awaits Him, Who made the likes of you fisher of men.''
for fecks sake finnbarr stick to the playing and singing which your great at doing, write poetry yes but your ballier voice is not cut out for reading it
