This is badass music! Can't get enough- Sting on bass, Stew on drums and Andy on guitar. So glad to have experienced these legends live in 2007! I wish they'd do it again!
FYI. Not a tour rehearsal. This is an excerpt from the same studio recording made in Chicago on 02/18/1984. "I recall that on a day off during the Synchronicity tour, we loaded in to a Chicago recording studio with the entire stage setup: risers, monitors and all. The idea was to capture the band's onstage performance in their prime, with minimal vocals, with the intent of adding them later. The date was 02/18/1984. Sting was not singing at performance level to save his voice. We were in the middle of the tour and had a show the night before and two back to back to shows coming up." thepolicewiki.org/Police_wiki/index.php...
I read there was some issue with Paul McCartney purchasing Every Little Thing so they could no longer play it live. Hence this song and the lyrics from Every Little Thing thrown in there. Not sure all the details. Maybe someone knows the whole story or the true story.
He's a pros pro, knew the voice would be there, it was about tightening up the arrangement for the shows, remember at this time this was a brand new song & they had yet to play it live.
so right - it's hard for me to watch the reunion tour because of that - it somehow lost the urgency. By the measured feel of the groove on that tour I wouldn't be surprised if they were playin to a click

This is correct
Copeland is dynamite. Thanks for uploading.
He's a literal machine. How!?
You're right! Copeland was the most amazing drummer!
the riff is almost "Day Tripper"
Good ear. Surprised they didn't get sued.
Exactly! They were almost there. But took a left turn at the opportune moment to not be labelled plagiarised.
That's what I thought

Andy's harmonic guitar on this tour sounds excellent
i love this banddd
Wow, they actually sounded like the Police here during this rehearsal.
If this band didn't have the most dynamic and shit hot rhythm section of all time I'd love to know who did?
notice Sting is saving his voice. tying it together with the band to get that tight. saving his voice for the dates.

They played fast in '83. On the reunion tour everything had slowed down significantly. Old age.

@@gfolkerth They did it to a click. It was all way too slow!
Typical Copeland live tempo.
Yup, they used a click track in 2008
EPIC
They will get a ticket for speeding 💨
Is that Copeland because it looks like Alex lifeson
Definitely Copeland
