I was there - still got my 'Bill Graham presents' ticket stub. It was one of those wonderful balmy East Bay evenings. Earlier, before the Police came on, the Fixx performed - a great British group in their own right, but who oddly, never made it in the UK. You can't see it in this video, but the chorus is Sting's sisters. I remember being narked, because I'd come to see the Police not a family get together. At this time, 1983, the Police were briefly, The Biggest Band in the World. Ah, happy days :)
The Police was one of the greatest talents of the 20th Century! You have to remember that they were only in their early 20’s when “Roxanne” dropped and it was all downhill from their, including Sting and his other dozen solo albums. Kudo’s boys!! A fine career packed FULL of outrageous music, lyrics & FUN!! Well done.
@@EM-yk1dw Oh my God (pun alert...), I can absolutely imagine Gordo going off on a fucking long-winded, educated tangent about his perceived influences (or maybe lack thereof), waxing all philosophical about it. Shudder...
I like the faster version, but the drummer had way to much fuel before the show. Still, The Police one of the most underrated bands we ll see in our day.

yes, it was difficult to keep Copeland on time he was always pushing for faster. There is a video live where you see Andy telling him "too fast" like asking to reduce a little because it was difficult to follow that speed. Copeland is so full of energy that needs to be controlled (some times), I think this is one of the reasons for Sting and Stewart conflicts.
one of the best song in their entire catalogue
It’s actually a cover version of an old Last Exit song originally recorded a decade earlier
Quite a few of The Police's songs are reworked Last Exit ones; I didn't realise they had so many.

Sting's sisters aren't there; it's professional backing singers (who are probably Black).
O My God I miss the 80's! I wish a hole would swallow me up and take me back! I hate the times we live in now!
Stewart always played faster live, causing Andy & Sting to have to match that obviously and it caused a lot of friction between Copeland & Sting
The 80s were a piece of shite dude. Please.

They were in their late 20s to mid 30s when Roxanne hit.
I’ll never know how Copeland never got arthritis later in life... such a beast
Still going strong in The Police Deranged
@@EM-yk1dwStill practices four hours a day.
the bass line reminds me to "Day Tripper" by The Beatles
True
I think The Beatles were a huge influence on Sting.

@@renderizer01 Indeed and probably to wind up Stewart too! 😁
@@EM-yk1dw Oh yes. He'd be all over it. ;O)

Great bass line. Song seems better faster.
About playing faster, they do that often when they are live so they can fit more songs in the concert.
+Jay B Agreed, its not much up tempo from the album version.
"peazo" canción
fill it up someway
Sting is an awesome bassist
Am...... not
Pretty good little band.
Nothing little about them, you ignorant nack
The bass line sounds like Day tripper
Similar bass line to "Driven to Tears"
Te-ma-zo.
Plenty of dancing powder consumed me thinks 🤣
God will "Fill it up" Jesus is a prayer away. Actually, Sting's words remind me of the anguish in some of the Psalms
Why so faster? Loss quality and charm...
