Im pretty sure it was on the backside. Might be the cove. We didn't stay in one spot. We drove around quite a bit.
are they yelling "color" for the guy to come over with the gaff? what does it mean?
That means the fish is nearing the boat and ready to be gaffed. This makes it easier for the crew to understand that you need their immediate attention. This way the crew uses their time most efficiently. Kind of like an Emergency room, handle the people that need the help quickly first.

awesome. Went to San Nicolas and caught yellowtail white fish sheephead and a nice 150 pound black sea bass.
what were you guys throwin on the troll?
+joe juane I think they were using live bait from the bait tank. Maybe a small troll jig?

Freedom should look into upgrading their bait well there is always alot of dead sardines wasted and insufficient live bait
Tig Palan I think it has more to do with the bait that it does the tank. Its probably not well cured and it doesn't help that the water is so warm. Thats a recipe for dead bait.
A lot of boats have had that problem lately it's the temperature change in the water wen going farther offshore. I work on a boat and it happens every trip plus the bait not being as good and cured as it shud doesn't help also
