- Here is a quick Video on how to Program the lights with the New Biocube 32 aquarium using standard time. I've also included written instructions below.
Set the Clock to your current time,
Phase 1, Daylight timer: I have my lights to enter full intensity lighting at 9:30am - 8:00PM (10.5 Hours for full lighting)
Phase 2, Sunrise/Sunset timer: you can set this to whatever time you would like Prior to the times set on Phase 1. My Timer is set from 9:00am - 8:00pm. (White lights begin to come on at 9:00am and will shut off completely by 8:30pm)
Phase 3, Moonlights. These lights are the Deep blue night LED's. I set mine to turn on from 7:30am-10pm. This way the Blue lights will be the only lighting from 7:30am-9am and From 8:30pm- 10:30pm. However the blue lighting will stay on all day, and will be off at completely after 10:30 PM
No light will be on between 10:30pm-7:30 am.
Using this technique allows you to have a longer lighting period without causing algae growth or negatively impacting your aquarium, This also allows you to take full advantage of all the lighting to increase overall intensity throughout the day.
5yr old video but still very helpful sir!! Purchased my BioCube today and your video made ALL the difference!! Thank you!! 😊🙌🏾
Thank you!!!! OMG the instructions to do set the lights were so confusing! You made it simple, and easy to follow to program my Biocube 32 lights!!!! This video to set your lights works for my Biocube 32 purchased in 2024!!!!!!
You do not know how much this video has saved my life
Such an amazing video. I’ve been trying to figure out how to set this damn cube up for the past 7 months haha
Thanks!
My cat shut mine off for the night and I had to completely reprogram it! This video is helpful once again.
I have had my cube for about 3 years. The power went out yesterday and I had to reset my lighting. The verbiage you used in this video had my lights set in under 3 minutes. The instructions had me pulling out my hair for an hour. It is the simulated sunrise/sunset that had my mind going in circles. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Another great video helping myself as a novice beginning in the salt hobby and not having a great lfs near my home. I have a second hand Bio Cube and had no clue the lighting was this cool. Thank you very much!!!
Thank you so much! This video is so helpful. I have watched many times
Amazing video thanks
Thanks again for the vid. Never new I could run all lights on at the same time. Makes a big difference on my cube
Thank you so much for this video. This dang tank was driving me crazy!
Thanks a lot buddy! That was super helpful! You did a great job explaining that! Not to much jabber, strait to the point and explain at the end. Love it! Keep posting!!!
Best video for the tank lighting
Thank-you. This helped a lot😁
I got my chick a 32 for Xmas after watching some of your other videos. And now you showed us how to set the lights. Thanks
The sort of tutorial every product should have. Thanks!
Great video just set my light! Thanks a lot!!
Thanks for making this video!
Thank you so much for this video I just got this Bio Cube 2 days ago, I was thinking my 2nd program and 3rd program was not turning off and it was broken then I found this site. I did not realize that at the off time it begins to ramp down Thanks so much for explaining that!
I just switched mine to your schedule. Makes sense to me.
This video helped me a lot thanks for sharing!!
Buenas las luces se encienden automáticamente o tiene que encenderlas uno?
so the number two setting the ramp down at 8 PM is set the same as step one is also 8 pm?
Did algae over take your tank with all that light all the time? I'm very curious.
right! seems like way too much light
Its supposed to be 5 hours max of daylight
@@jesusfreak7777 its actually 8 to 10 hours to simulate the natural cycle of day light.
@@sinatra617 does it matter the size of tank you have? Because some tell me 7 to 8 some also have told me 5 max daytime with 2 hours of sunset then 1 hour of moon light ( blue).
@@jesusfreak7777 the depth of the rocks matters and the strength of your lights. The deeper the live rocks and fish the stronger and longer light is needed. To be honest the brochures lighting is sub par. It could be a bit better so running it a little longer won't hurt anything. Some also will say that it dont matter. Its one of those things where some ppl say this amd some ppl say that. The best thing g to do is play around with it and watch your tank mates they will show you what they like.
Thank you ! Used these exact timing
Thanks so much!! Your instructions are awesome.
Hey I really liked your video it helped me out a lot! Just a question, so I have it set like yours and it has all lights running and it’s around 1030 est right now and it just doesn’t seem blue enough if that makes sense. Is that normal? My dad has the older model bio cube and you can see his blues and it runs on individual switches.
Thank you so much. I never, ever would have thought of this. I had them separated, daylight and moonlight. This will definitely give more light. Thanks again.
Thanks! I tried finding this info everywhere, much appreciated video
I have mine set at L1 on 8:30pm off 9:00pm. L2 on 3pm off 8:30 pm. L3 on 9:00pm off 9:30. This low light setting keeps my tank looking nice and cool without bleaching my corals or growing hair algae. Only draw back is lights don’t come on till 3:00pm but I’m fine with that being a night owl and all. Happy reefing.
L1 930pm// off @9pm
L2 3pm //off @830pm
L3 9pm// off 930
Is your l3 off at 930 pm or am?
I needed this... thank you!
Thanks. Was wondering how to program the lights for the corals with both blue and white.
Is this too heavy for freshwater? I did this and it just kept blinking
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
Very informative....
Thank you🙌
thank you!!! ❤
If you set the moonlight to 0:00 on and off does it not use them at all?
I watch this same video about every 4 months lol
Brother I’ve had this tank for 4 months and was manually changing lighting because i couldn’t figure it out
This was a BIG help! Thanks!
Thanks man helped out big time
Question : so do the lights not turn on at all unless you set the timing? Sorry new to the hobby just bought a biocube and can’t seem to get the lights on only the fan turns on.
The Timing is optional, you should be able to press the power button and the lights should come on. if you are pressing the power and the lights are not coming on at all you might have an issue. have you tried pressing the power and just leaving it on with the fan running?
There is also a little reset button on top, Have you tried that?
I know this post is old so no one may see this, butt just in case. This talks about corals, I only have one goldfish, is this light setting still okay for him? If anyone sees this, any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks! Confused until I watched your video.
Do you keep your moons on throughout the night?
You rock! Thank you for this!
Great video, but I have a question to the lights turn on and off by themselves or do I have to do that manually even though it's on a timer?
Once the timer is set they will turn off and on by themselves. If you do Not set the timer then you would have to do it manually.
I just got a 32 gallon Biocube and set my timer to your exact settings and by 10:30pm the lights were still on. Any ideas?
The light should be on till about 1030 due to the ramp down, So if you set the blues from 7:30am - 10Pm, They will actually be on until 1030, so that's normal. Did they go beyond 1030? and if so how long did they stay on?
I am sure you have figured it out by now but the moon light ramp up and down is for 60 mins not 30 like said here. If you want them off at 10:30pm you need to set them to go off at 9:30pm.
Moonlight is a different setting.
Ohhhhh I get it now before I used to keep L1 on at 4pm, off at 8pm, L2 on:2pm, off: 4pm, L3: on : 8pm off:12am. That's why my anemones close up when the lights are on!
Imma honesty kiss u for this
Help, can't seem to make lights change even with timer set, stays on L1 and L2, demo mode won't work either. Reset a few times but nothing changes.
Great video! Could you help me with setting my lighting schedule?
That seem like a lot of light..Is it not true, more light, more algae..I have my light on for around 7 hours..
Any way to make it blue er
Hello. Biocube 32 here. I'm so confused about the lighting and timers. (temp is 78 degrees) My original sequence was:
L1 10am - 2pm
L2 8am - 4pm
L3 431pm - 4am
You can see by this that I was running the lights for too long and the tank inhabitants have suffered. What can I do, how can I make changes to not shock these poor guys? Mushrooms, zoas, favia, birdsnest, clownfish. My new setting is:
L1 10am - 1pm (birdsnest are bleaching out and ?? too much light?)
L2 8am - 4pm
L3 330pm - 7:00pm
I'm nervous to overlap all three at the same time; I don't want to shock and lose what's in the tank. But it seems like I need more blue. Please advise. It is so difficult to find concise information on these lights and timers. I think Coral life assumes the consumer should know the lighting requirements because they give no direction other that "how" to set timer. Thank you for your time!!!!!
Your corals are not getting enough light, They are bleaching out/Dying due to lack of lighting. Your full intensity lighting is only 3 hours a day. Corals need lighting at full intensity for at least 8 hours a day.
You Cannot count the Blues / Sunrise/sunset programming as full lighting, Blues have a very minimal effect when it comes to coral growth. Same goes for the sunrise sunset. ideally you want 8-10 hours of full intensity, but can extend the lighting period to 10-12 hours using the sunrise/sunset and the Blues,
Here is a schedule i would recommend, This schedule gives you 8 hours of full intensity, 2 hours partial intensity(Sunrise/Sunset) and 2 hours of Blue lights for a total lighting period of 12 hours. (Only 9-10 hours of beneficial lighting for the corals)
L1 10am-6pm
L2 9am - 7Pm
L3 8am - 8pm
or just follow the schedule that i have in My video.
Hopefully this will all make sense to you and should help bring some life back into your corals.
Also keep in mind, there are many other things that can cause a decline in coral health, So if the corals don't improve with a better light schedule you might have other issues you'll need to look into.
Great content!

L2 9am/8pm
L3 blue lights 730am / 10pm
Thanks cuddy
Awesome
I followed your instructions to the T, yet the white lights would not go off. I had to reset the lights because of a power outage. It seems you have left off a few details
Does your blue turn off on time, my stay on for a while past the programmed off time
did you ever figure this out?
@@Slizopy yes
@@jamesallbright3170 what did you do?
@@Slizopy i called coralife, if you use that feature it is take like 45 minutes or an hour to alowly turn off
Sure! Here is your text translated into English:
"How can I make sure the light doesn’t turn off? According to your settings, the light in the aquarium turns off later. I need it to stay blue all night until morning."
Here's the translation:
"How can I set up a timer so that my light turns on at 7:00 AM, meaning dawn starts earlier, and turns off at 8:00 PM? After 8:00 PM, there should be twilight for 4 hours, and from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM, the night light-blue-should be on."
Thanks
I have a biocube 32 and had to reset everything and everything works ok until I get to setting number 3. my biocube is set to go off at 9:30pm but its not going off at this time. I have reset my biocube again and again for the past 7 nights. I don't know what's going on
Did you fix this?
Tyler Czop yep!
hi i’m having the same issue. what did you do to fix it ??
Is this the same on a 16
That’s a lot of light. I didn’t think you were supposed to keep them on that long.
What do you recommend
WTH. Biocube, just give me an on / off switch. Sheeeesh
