    OMG, that's amazing! I was skeptical at first, and at each new section, I would think, "Oh now he's blowing it," but he just went on and made every detail incredible! My jaw kept dropping as he did this!

    Those who give this (or any of your videos) a "thumbs down) just do not appreciate, or, at least comprehend, how "fine art" is done. Thank you for this video, Mr. Kevin.

      @FRG YT Perhaps you are a Prodigy? IT IS NOT EASY TO PLACE A BUNCH OF OILS OR ACRYLICS ONTO A CANVAS AND MAKE IT LOOK SO ALIVE AS KEVIN DID. IT HAD BEEN 35 YEARS FOR ME, AND I AM JUST NOW GETTING CLOSE TO MY ONE TIME SELF! Sorryn about the caps!

      @@annie8772 Painting is fun but not that easy..mathematically proportions should be correct of any subject that you painting and that's comes by practice also colour values..picking up right colours is a bit challenging.. sorry for my bad English just my opinion.

This is a very relaxing video and Kevin has such a nice gentle voice so whenever I want to drift off to sleep I choose a 30-40 min video and sit back and fall asleep. Works like magic 10/10

    seeing a lot of comments like this but holy shit man, im just getting into painting and seeing someone produce a work like this in less than 20 minutes is astonishing... a little over 5 minutes, blew me away how nice the mountain already looked... again im not a painter so i duno if thats how long it should take, but nevertheless... you are an absolutely beautiful artist guy.

    • @TULIP.1689
      @TULIP.1689 9 років тому +2

      Liam Phair I know this comment is older but I just started painting with oils and the medium is so easy to work with in a way that others aren't. As long as you understand many of the fundamentals you can whip things up in a manner that's not as tedious as say…pencil. You have the option to use the knife and large brushes.

    • @archonwizard6404
      @archonwizard6404 7 років тому

      Liam Phair it really is easy. I had a small canvas, about the size of a large tablet, and bet my brother twenty dollars I could do a painting in under five minutes. I'm twenty dollars richer now.

    Well I just tried my first oil painting and did wet on wet cause I'm told it's quite easy. For my first go it was actually pretty fun and the end result almost made me look like a pro. But it also frustrated me at times. When doing palette knife stuff, the paint would never work like it does here. It wouldn't slide off it would just drag and little pieces would fall off but mostly it just stayed on the knife. The snow ended up alright but only from a distance as I had to lay it on super thick just to get it to stick. What did I do wrong was the canvas to wet?

      robitussin You can either use Liquid white or liquid clear as a base coat or medium to get your canvas nice and slick when you're painting ... Thats really what is essential for a Wet on Wet painting.
      And if you can't get Liquid white or liquid clear, Linseed Oil will do the same for cheaper ....
      Remember not to use too much linseed oil as well. A little goes a long way. :)

      @@iesminnahar2458 You can, just takes a few more steps. You need to use some retarder to thin the paint and help it stay wet so it blends better. The entire focus for my paintings are to look like oil while being acrylic and that's simply because I love oil but oil is much more unsafe with pets in the house.

    You made it look so easy that I gave it a try. Bought all paints, knives and brush materials. Little did i know that I had walked in to a disaster.
    Right off the bat, the blue paint didn't spread as easily and quickly, I had to rely on slow strokes rather than the fast strokes shown here. (I used flat brush 12 number brush on 8x10'' canvas). Then I went into clouds, and hell unfolded. White oil paint swirling action that you did here, just caused the white to get mixed with the blue and create lighter blue, just blending without any crisp boundaries. So i loaded in a lot more paint, swirled even more lightly, and resulted in plain white blobs of horror. The more I swirled, the more it blended, and no more clouds remained. I let some of the white highlights untouched and moved on to mountains. Painting knife barely moved a few inches and the paint was over. Nowhere near as textured, they looked like step fields. When I added the shadowy regions to one side, they ended up blending with the "snow" from the other side. Exasperated after long efforts of trying to save the painting and colors just blending into one another, I put it away, lay down and breathed lightly.
    I realized, you sir, are a complete legend with your handling of the paints. What you make effortlessly like magic has years of hard work behind it. I will keep working hard to get there one day. Believe it! :D
