I feel the opposite way, its fascinating that back then, throwing with a crappy shuffle, little understanding of technique we have today, no modern strength training or periodization, no year round training, all in a dirt circle, they still threw farther than middling D3/amateurs with all the equipment and everything else in their favor

He won silver in 1980, bronze in 1976.
