Notice how relaxed you are after watching something like this, as compared to the garbage on TV today?
Yes, I do, any classics and certain cartoons makes me relax, I even fall Asleep Lol!
Yeh I can't belive I've never been exposed to this I'm 61 years young .blows my mind. Hell I'm impressed. Didn't know it was available pretty cool huh ?
Hi grandpa. 😆
Yep, chillin in my room right now watching this
absolutely
Simple, clean and extremely entertaining. I miss these old shows.
Great show i use to watch it as a littlr girl along with the twilight zone and Outter limits great acting and writing
@@jacquelinerussell8530 We're about the same age, lol.
Very funny, as well, at least earlier on

ELEGANCE!!🙏
John Newland had a very compelling voice. It's not loud or intense; it draws you in. It's almost impossible to stop listening to him once he begins. He'd have made a great hypnotist.
After watching him narrate the show I thought he already was one.
Like Rod sterlings Love there voice
I agree ! Great show too. I wish we had quality shows to watch.
Yes. His diction was very clear, but his tone and volume even. He also had a somewhat abrupt, staccato way of speaking, which you don't often hear from someone who is so calm as he seemed.
My dad liked old sci-fi. He's passed, but with me everyday, like today. We're watching together.
good!
I was born in the mid sixties, so my older brother and I, as kids, used to lay on my parents bed and watch the reruns, of these great, spooky shows, before going to our beds. Great memories.
Im 32 years old and I really love watching these old shows and twilight zone , the story telling is beyond great 👍 so well written in comparison to anything from today. Movies had no computer editing effects but writers used their imaginations and buildup which strikes with more effectiveness making it more marvelous to observe the nostalgia of that Era. How far down the drain American writers have fallen.
That final scene when they were uncovering the tomb, then dropping down into it...pure “Raiders of the lost arc” they got the whole idea from this episode. Without a doubt. Great episode.
For reals !!!! Who knew ??? 🤔😆😆😆😉👍
Many sci fi shows got a lot of their ideas from Twilight Zone and Star Trek so that’s not odd at all.
Absolutely
Thanks for ruining the show before everyone gets a chance to watch it🙄
Repeat this: i will NOT read comments until AFTER watching a film. It may help. 😄
Every single time as a kid ,I saw John Newland and that eerie music in the background, it would and to this day still sends chills up my spine. Great show.
It sent ants in my pants 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜👸🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🌕🌙👽👽💀💀🐭🐭👖👖👖👖
It did the same for me as a kid and years later has the same affect.
Such depth to this story, a whole lot in such a short time but written so well & pretty good effects for the time without over dramatizing the face or making it too creepy. Love this show!
This episode is compelling to view. It resonates with those who are still hopeful that some comforting sense of our baffling existence might occur eventually.
TV had a whole different vibe back in the day. It made you really explore your feelings by having dramatic, sad, happy, scary, etc story lines. I absolutely hate reality TV, it takes away from the art of acting. TV actors in the day used many theatrical styles which made for more versatile expressions of emotion ❤. I miss the good ole days!!! Those of us who lived during this time in this innocent forgotten world, are very fortunate ❤!!!
good points
I remember watching this show with my family as a kid. Of all the episodes we watched, this one stood out the most to me.
I saw this episode when it first aired. It sparked my life-long interest in antiquity.
I remember watching this episode as a kid in the 60s , I never dreamt I would be watching agains in 2021 and I still love it especially the music.
I was a mature 9 year old because l watched this with my big sister every Tuesday night. She told me that it was based on human experience and l got chills but never stopped watching. ☺☺
We had parenting & matured fast because we understood that we had to work to survive because there were NO "entitlement programs". Unlike today, most of us were not spoiled, lazy, disrespectful brats.
Me too.We watched it all.I guess we needed an escape from a drunk father and an abused mother. That's how we coped.Whats real scary is the theme music, that brings me back to that miserable time when all we had was bickering ,parents and an empty fridge.
…..and the problem was..... is that your Mum couldn't leave because of security ( maybe..as such ) to leave?
@@jeffmayo2439 You're not alone.

this episode is a great example as to why I loved this show so much back in the day! thank you for posting!!!

Does anyone know if there’s any record of this Egyptian pharaoh? I watched this show with my father as a kid. It was one of his favorite shows. It became one of mine as well. That was a very long time ago. I’m 59 now and he passed away in 2011. 😢 So this brings back some great memories.
Google it!
SUSAN, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO MEMORIES OF SHOWS FROM THE PAST. I PROBABLY WASN'T BORN YET. BUT THAT'S COOL BECAUSE I GET TO SPEND LOTS OF TIME WATCHING THEM NOW AND IT'S LIKE SEEING DECENT SHOWS AS IF THEY'RE BRAND NEW. NO VIOLENCE SHOWN, AND NONE OF THE B.S. SHOWN IN THE 2000'S
So sorry for the loss of your father. I know how it is, I lost my father and then my mother. So often I think of something and I say I’ll call mother and ask her, then it hits me that I can’t. I am 74 and I listened to the really old radio shows because very few people had tv’s back in the 50s. In fact my uncle was the first in our small town. The room had to be completely dark and the snow was really bad on it. I missed these stories in the 70s as I was working night shift at the telephone company, so they are all new to me. Hope I didn’t talk your ear off. Have a good year to come.
Emily Thompson this is Mr to. My father died 34 years ago but my mother only left us 5 weeks ago at 91. I am often thinking l must call mum and tell her that
I love One Step Beyond but this episode while intriguing seemed dubious. He is referred to as 'Prince Herkna' which implies never ascending to the throne. The Pharoah list, which is by no means complete, doesn't contain this name. I also can't find the account from Wilenski that this is based on. Wilensky did go on to be a respected sociologist.
One step Beyond you outdid yourself with this movie 👍🇺🇸
Absolutely one of my most favorite episodes. I remember first watching it very late at night with my dad sometime in the early 60’s. Great program with an excellent host.
Have watched The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone in all its versions several times but never heard of One Step Beyond. Have to get that show. Thanks.
I never watched one step beyond and have never heard from it either.
If you enjoyed twilight zone and outer limits, you will enjoy these series....it's epic and classic stuff...I watched these episodes when I was young...loved them all... enjoy.
"Panic!", "Way Out", where both good too...
One Step Beyond always scared me most as a kid,...since they were based on true stories unlike the other 2.
@@johnsain
I hear you, and Harry Lubin’s score didn’t help any either.
loved this show. I think mostly because there was always that 'possibility' of a touch of truth. Put it one step beyond in the creep you out scale compared to twilight, that you knew were all written stories. :)
This was always one of my very favorite TV programs when I was growing up. Thank you so very much for the upload!!
“I was alone again in the unquiet darkness.”----- F. Scott Fitzgerald
Just found these have binge watched all night. They certainly don't make them like they used too... Great stuff. Thank you
The scene where they go into the tomb is a strait inspiration for Indiana Jones.. I see now where George Lucas got it from... But there was a lot of snakes in Raiders of the lost Ark..
Asps...very dangerous. You should go first!
Walk like an Egyptian, talk like an Egyptian ⚱👍. What a wonderful episode and wonderful show. I miss great shows like this and the eras of the past. In loving memory of our ancestors.
The Egyptian music they use in place of Lubin's "Weird" and Fear" is just gorgeous. I could listen to that all day
Arabic music!

Excellent, intriguing complete show. Highly
recommended to all.
Special thanks for uploading this timeless piece if history. Best wishes to all out there from South New Jersey, USA. ❤️❤️❤️
My favorite episode. I just wished he elaborated a little more about what happened to Lt. Wallinski after this incident.
Yeah the final statement is big on poetry but really poor on specifics. I have no idea what actually happened to Wallinski.
@@wordsofcheresie936 The Wilenski this episode was based on probably went to the same place all characters from urban myths go. There was a real Wilenski who may have been some inspiration for this, but there's no evidence that this story really happened. That Wilenski was Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the author of 13 books and 70 articles. He died in 2011.
Each episode used to cost 12/15 thousand dollars. Nowadays they cannot produce high quality shows spending 1M per shot.
stop whining
@@ladylyrichere9373 He is making the right observation, not whining.
So happy to see this pop up today! Thank you so much for this upload🎥
"Hey, uh, Brimley... how'd you like to be a buddy?"
You have quoted a line from the video.
Great stuff, and well acted by all concerned.
THE HOST OF THIS STORY: "But Lt. Wallenski did not die. Not entirely."
MIRACLE MAX IN "THE PRINCESS BRIDE": "... it just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Now, mostly dead is slightly alive. Now, all dead-well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do: Go through his clothes and look for loose change."
Love love love these old videos a walk down memory lane .. love it ❤ 2023
Thanks for the great shows! I never get tired of them.
I always loved this show. Watched it all the time. Thanks for posting!
That music...chilling!
When this show first aired, a soundtrack album was issued by Decca Records in both Mono and Stereo.
Nice one cheers mate from Sunny England
" This artifact belongs in a museum!!" Indiana Jones.
Love triva,thanks
Wow. Egyptians looked a lot like wooden puppets. I never knew that. (Seriously, this is a good flick. Thanks PF).
Love archeology, so this one was right up my street !👏👏👏👍😊
Same here! That's the reason this is one of my favorites. Archeology. Egypt.

WE love this show. Thanks so much!
Wesley Lau was cast as the masked Lieutenant Walensky. Wesley Lau would later be in the Perry Mason TV Series, cast as Lieutenant Andy Anderson, a Police Homicide Investigator who worked for District Attorney Hamilton Burger.
Always loved watching this show as a kid in the early '60s......but never by myself! ;-)
Who knows what lies beneath the sands of mother Egypt♥️
He lay comatose in the sun for four days and woke up Lawrence of Arabia.
I have all these shows on DVD. Most fantastically fantastic. Awsom ending music. I remember these shows when they premiered on television.
Enjoying this old series so much. Just wanted to thank you for the uploads.😀
Excellent stories always defying imagination
Good entertainment....but that's all it is.
I can't fathom why you thought this was excellent if Rod was the bar.
Or truth feel like stories
*Wonderful tale; beautifully crafted!* ✴
Holy smokes, did you see that heavy set old man drop from the tomb ceiling?! That was real with no stunt double.
Yes , the 3 stooges. King Rootin. Tootin
I remember that.one.
How did they get back up?
Everyone of the cast that appeared in this episode are dead.
The beautiful actress who played the nurse, Joan Elan, died age 52 and most of the other main cast died in their 60s.
This episode is from 1960, I can remember this series when a kid.
The most depressing part when I check out the actors from those times in IMDB is discovering the whole lot have gone.
The TV is very old
"the other main cast died in their 60s." nothing surprising!
I used to draw and color Egyptian Hieroglyphics especially sun Symbols .I loved Ra❤
♥️♥️♥️🐈⬛
Great story! These old b&w shows and movies are the reason I no longer own a TV
“The Mask,” Season 2, Episode 24, aired 1 March 1960. Wesley Lau as Lt. Harold Wilenski, Luis Van Rooten as Brimley, Stephen Bekassy as Dr. Beauvais, Joan Elan as the Nurse, John Newland as Himself-Host.
Been watching all night. Now at work listening at my job
This is a remarkable episode!!!!
An Enlightening Episode :)
I love his voice too,it makes me want to listen to this episode very often 🥰🥰🥰
I never saw this before . I really enjoy this program. I want to watch all.

Your welcome thank you for everything that you do
i wonder if John Newland ever did any else? he was sure good with this show. i loved it - i mostly remember him, the music and a feel for the show. thanks so much -
Why don't you look him up on Wiki & stop "wondering"?
He was a director as well. Google his name.
He appears in 2 episodes of Thriller .he was an actor and director.look him up on Wikipedia♥️
Nice if people could just answer a question without being smart a..es
He directed and/or co-starred in several episodes of The Loretta Young Show.
What a great episode. Thanx a million for uploading this gem.
This is my absolute favorite episode!!!
So simple and entertaining....sadly those days gone by.
Wesley Lau was Lt. Anderson on Perry Mason 🥰 both him and Luis Van Rooten played many many different roles in American TV shows 😍
Geez, that was a good show 👍🏾. Thanks Pizza well done on a gloomy afternoon ! 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏽♀️🙋🏽

Some real mad luv from a soldier PizzaFlix, can't thank you enough, One step beyond 46, "The mask," was an autocratic, dispotically brain blithesomeneslly attention capturing 30 mins !!! Probably screen it again at the doc's office lobby in a few days, much luv. Another tight 30 mins was, " The gypsy," screened that one where it made blink twice.

I 've tried tocate two but can't seem to retrieve either full films from UA-cam, you might know about them, the 1st is 1947 " T- Men, Dennis O' Keefe. and that zagnut bar June lockhart. The second, 1950 " Between midnight and dawn," Edward O' brien, and the dream packages of m & m candy both Gale Storm and Gale Robbins. I could only get pieces of both reels unfortunately.
@@lawrenceofarabia8456 Big fan of Anthony Mann's T-Men, haven't seen the other one. Both films are currently unavailable for a non-exclusive streaming license, hence you won't find them on a legitimate YT channel. Thanks for watching. May the Sauce be with you.
Excellent episode. Just read today about a new find of 140 sarcophagi in an area named Saqqara very near to Giza.
Yes I love the old stuff.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The "mummy" is so funny and his voice alone kills me
Even in ancient Egypt, English was the norm. " Yours truly, The Mummy". Should have been the title.mean while in another room, Prof. Roy Elroy, aka King Tut , schemes another crime for Batman to solve !!!.
Mean while, thousands of years ago, his face shows up on the real guy, who is just as dumbfounded.
First time watching memory my dad like this show as well as outer limit and twilight zone
Wow ! I haven't seen these old TV shows in over 60 years ! Used to watch this and Way Out, etc in the late 50's early 60's. Great SYFY TV , befor it's time fer sure. Tom Daytona Beach, FL.

They put him back in his uniform before they removed the mask? The were in a hurry to get him out.
Good observation.
Maybe they were setting the mood.
He was able to shave the whole time, too.
He was in uniform troughout his confinment at the hospital. Even that old guy across the room wearing the same clothing. 😆
And shaved him too somehow
