Wonder Woman has no other position than number 1.....the first season had the most iconic music of her spins.
The first season was also rocking because of its historical setting. Thanks for watching.
I had such a crush on Lynda Carter when Wonder Woman aired. She will always be my #1 transformation from the 70s.
There was no other place for her, am I right?
I didn’t remember her changing in the air as she falls from a parking garage. F-ing love it!
These variations, including amazing falling, made her #1
Wonder Woman and The Hulk are my ATF !!!! 🎉❤
You know it. Can't get more magical, more amazeballs than those.
Ice Man and Firestar from Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.
Those 2 are pretty memorable, ill give you that. Deserved!
One of my favorites all time animated TV shows! Their chemistry is unmatched to this day.
I heard the Linda Carter came up with the spinning thing and the writers made it a part if the show.
Wow, really? I like that story. Thanks for sharing.
In the early episodes, the transformation was overlayed as she changed and needed to stay in the same place, It was a very time-consuming process. with the wonder flash burst, she didn't need to change clothing piece to piece anymore, and filming went faster.
@@GENXPERIENCE yep. not only did that happen in the live version, they included the spin in the Justice League animated series, too!
Lynda Carter. My first celebrity crush. Other people had Farrah Fawcett on their wall, I had Lynda. And then seeing her in the movie version of Dukes of Hazzard and Wonder Woman 84, she still looks fantastic!
YOu got that right. yeah, Farrah had something, but Linda rocked it!
Great list, but I'd add one of my favorites: The Drak Pack. Granted, it's the Monster Squad minus Walt, but the writing was surprisingly smart for a cartoon.
I just barely recollect that name. It may be during some later Gen Xperiences, but probably still worthy. Thanks for dropping me a line.
That came out in 1980 and doesn't seem that well known today, but I loved it.
Wonder Woman absolutely number one. I would have also added Maya from Space 1999.
Oh LORD, that would have been wonderful. Thank you, I should have.
Yes, the way the camera just zooms into her eye! So different from every other transformation!
Ah, Turbo Teen… freakish body horror in the guise of Saturday morning cartoons 😱 Kinda like Cronenberg for kids! 😅
Similar to Mumm-ra, the transformation of Monstar from Silverhawks was pretty epic, especially the full “transformation chamber” sequence.
Someone else mention Monstar. I think SH must have been right beyond my cartooning in my Gen Xperience. But I'll have to check it out. Thanks. Oh, and Turbo Yeen is just wacko
@@GENXPERIENCE He was even voiced by the incomparable Earl Hammond as well, so basically Mumm-ra, but in space 😄
Watching the Hulk and Wonder Woman transform is vivid in my brain. I always thought it was so cool!
IT stays with you...FOREVER.
Turbo Teen was off the Hook I loved that show as a kid
Totally off the hook, lol. Fun and outrageous.
Great idea for a video I liked Monstarr from Silverhawks 👍🤘
Just a little later than my Gen Xperience, but ill check him out.
Manimal?
Tell you a secret, that got so copyrighted I had to pull it, lol. But yes...GOOD ONE
Some REAL honorable mentions could've and should've included: Animal, Voltron: DOTU, Filmation's Ghostbusters, Teen Wolf, Mighty Orbots, Challenge of the Go-Bots, Bionic Six, Superboy and Knight Rider, just to name a few!
Other than that, this was a very exceptional list of top notch transformation sequences, to be sure! 😊
Though you were a little rough, and completely unfair, what you said about She-Ra, Princess of Power... but I digress.
lol, sorry if I was unfair towards She Ra, but there is no disrespect (she was my first "doll" I ever had). Some of those honorable mentions were a little later for the GEN Xperience, blending with the Millennial experience, but some are truly worth it. Thank you
@@GENXPERIENCE It's cool! And just you sharing this, all the more makes up for everything! Especially after learning that your first "doll" was She-Ra Princess of Power! Not only am I not mad at that, but... it's also respectable! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A list devoted soley to 70's and 80's toons would be ideal. And yes, Monstar from Silverhawks was legendary.
I guess I wasn't enough of Monstar fan...but many were, lol. Please check out my whole series of Saturday Morning Cartoons. They are from the 70s and 80s only and are different categories. Thanks for watching.
Another epic animated villain transformation I always remembered was Mon Star using the Moon Star from Silver Hawks.
You're the 3rd to mention it. I have to look that up now.
Astria's transforming from the space sentinals was unique for a cartoon. Same with klone from blackstar, both from filmation studios.
I'm going to refresh my memory on Blackstar...oh, wait...of course. It wasn't too huge, but I LOVED it. Thanks for the recollection.
I know there was no effect but Burt Ward and Adam West sliding down the pole and appearing in the Batcave in full Batman/ Robin garb were my favorite.
If I am thinking of some transformations from my generations Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have to be my number 1
It's in there....not part of 13, but still shown and referenced toward the end.
@@GENXPERIENCE yea! Glad you snuck it in at the outro!
The ONLY time it was shown was the Batman movie released between season one and two.
Super Samurai of the Freedom Force
Mighty Orbots
The Centurions
Super Sentai. Liked seeing the Visionaries on here
Thanks for view and comment. I didn't think Centurions was much of a transformation. And Super Sentai may have been going into 90s/Millennial territory too much. But still an AWESOME one.
You mention Automan! Thank you, I sometimes think I'm the only one who recalls loving that show! Where the hell is Hong Kong Phooey!! and even more where is Captaiiiiiiiiin Caaaaaayvmaaaaaan - nobody would ever guess who he was! lol
I wish the show had gone longer. It has so many of my favorite elements in it. I love that you mentioned the whole nobody would guess who he was.....that was true with almost all of these, lol.
The number 1 superguy! I know the theme song by heart. I loved those shows growing up. I used to tie a towel around my neck and run around with one of those big red bats pretending to be Captain CaaaavvveMaaan! I could also be Mightor too, very versatile that cape, bat combo back in the day..lol
The honorable mention
Prince Planet - when he would grasp his pendant and change from his civilian identity of Bobby into Prince Planet! That was pretty cool. That was from the 1966 cartoon called Prince Planet.
Well, well. I have never heard of Prince Planet. I will have to look it up. That certainly is very early GEN X, so it may not be within the GEN Xperience I am covering...but I am intrigued.
Excellent choice for #1!
I think it made sense. Thank you
Jem was amazing, truly, truly, truly amazing 😅
Although, it would be a Holographic transformation and not a real one.
I like how when WW transformed into her diving suit she also transformed the ocean into a swimming pool. Lol.
YOu noticed the nice clear, blue, smooth bottom, free from life water tank, too? lol
THANK YOU ... I was going to have to make one on of these videos myself - but yours is just as good as I would have made. Awesome and thank you. Oh, and I almost commented on ElectraWoman and DynaGirl being missing - but you threw it in at the end.
And yes - Wonder Woman (both slomo and thunderclap) are the #1 transformation!
Hello there. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll take it as a compliment. There were a couple of others I didn't do for sure, if you still wanted to do one later. Yes, just touched on those 2 in the end. Thanks for watching.
I still have He-Man, Battlecat, Skeletor and Panthor action figures!
You were raised right!
4:01: I don't give a rats ass what the Disney lawyers say, Billy Batson is MY Captain Marvel!!!!!!
Lol
He is the only true Captain Marvel.
Disney had nothing to do with it. Marvel Comics took the name when the Fawcett comics trademark lapsed then won a lawsuit to keep it when DC gained the rights and started producing new comics, which for a while had the tag line “The Real Captain Marvel. The character name within the comics only changed around the time of the New 52.
@@matthewrosenthal753 A) DC and Marvel shared the name with no problem until AFTER the Disney buy out, and the characters name was changed because the mouse eared resheam threatened a lawsuit, that and I'm saying it despite not having anything to do with the subject anyway, but, (fan rage incoming) NEW 52 SUCKED BALLS AND THE FACT THAT ASPECTS OF IT ARE STILL TREATED LIKE THEY ARE CANNON INSTEAD OF PUTTING THINGS BACK THE WAY THEY BELONG IS THE REASON DC STILL SUCKS!!!!! Dan Dedio apparently didn't learn his lesson the last time after the fan backlash after he soft rebooted beast wars into beast machines, shit!!!!
@@thewalrusclown Never really liked the new 52. Disney had nothing to do with The name change. The suit only said that the name Captain Marvel could not appear on the cover. DC to change things up and stop any lingering confusion change their character’s name to match the Wizard.
I would put an honorable mention to Samson and Goliath since they are a 60s cartoon. Clashing wrist bands to make both transform. And Mi-Tor was also a 60s cartoon. And I occasionally play a version of him in City of Heroes.
I love that you have him as playable character. I had S&G in, but a big copyright against that, so I pulled
Kick ass list, but you forgot Fangface 😁
Not a bad choice, I did include him in a separate show about Scooby Doo clones. I like to cover all my bases
Hmm but you also missed one of the greats easy Transformations thou maybe he might not rate that of Clark Kent to Superman, Glad to see WW at number 1 and He-man at 2 both are very iconic and Hulk too.
I love Supes, and show him at start of video, but never thought it was memorable. Just me, though.
@@GENXPERIENCEI‘d say we have very different ideas of memorable. That ripping open of the shirt, is usually enough to sell the effect.
@@GENXPERIENCE In the first Superman movie, just after Superman flies Lois Lane around Metropolis, he shows up as bumbling Clark Kent. While Lois is in the bathroom, Clark decides to tell her that he's Superman. No costume. No special effects. Christopher Reeve simply stops slouching and tenses his jaw. And I believe!!!
@GENXPERIENCE You've OBVIOUSLY forgotten about Firestorm, the Flash, Green Lantern & the Human Torch THEMSELVES too as well okay.
I would replace Jem with Voltron. Those 5 lions coming together the last 5 minutes of the show with 4 of those being the transforming sequence along with the theme song was always epic.
I can appreciate that, but since it was more of a combination thing, I chose to just do transformations, and what made Jem so unique, is it was not usually the same, not stock footage, they had to do it different each time. Voltron was incredible, but Jem's holographic change was more interesting to me.
Rubik, the Amazing Cube would transform into a living rubik's cube when solved.
True, but that one wasn't too iconic
There is also Elktra Woman and Dyna Girl.
Yes, it is a minor change, nothing to incredible, so I added them at the end of the video with Batman.
Linda Carter is wonder woman for real and she invented the transformation
No, she DIDN'T either okay @geraldprince7244.
Mumm-ra isn't the only supervillain that should be on the list. Monstar from the Saturday morning cartoon Silverhawks has a transformation that would put it in the top 3.
You are not the only ones who mentioned MOnstar. Although I feel like Silverhawk's were getting later in the game, I did check it out. His transformation is original, so he would be a good one.
Great video, the Wonder Twins & Jaws crossover made my nose spit my drink 😂😂😂
Me too! Had to add it. Loved those new shorts and love the WTs. Thanks.
Two other memorable changes for me are "Manimal" and "Young Samson and Goliath".
Both got me copyright hits the first time around. Had to remove both from my show, sadly
Thundercats' sister show Silverhawks also had a similar villain transformation for MonStar. I believe it was the same VO actor and the chant had the same cadence
You ate not the first to mention that one. Apparently we'll liked. Thank you
I agree with the automam reboot
I'd throw in "The Thing" cartoon ("Thing-Ring, do your thing!") Manimal, and Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) - although Japanese shows could probably fill its own list of magical transformations.
You hit the nail on the head with the anime. So many! I did have Sailor Moon, but she came to US in 89, so the end of The GEN Xperience, but Manimal got copyrighted...so I pulled.
I had a Visionaries action figure. Pity I didn't retain it as it would either be totally worthless or quite valuable these days. Who knows! I love that Wonder Woman transformation.
The visionaries were a fairly original concept too, so loved those guys. Yeah, WW Wins!
I'm not sure if it's a trope, but it should be if it isn't. The elaborate transformations in shows like He-Man were strictly for the viewer. In universe, all the other characters saw most times, was a brief burst of light. That's why Skeletor et all, were never able to do as you suggested, continuing their evil plan, while the hero was distracted by the their own TF sequence.
I recollect that other characters would refer to or notice a flash of light, but never got the impression that was happening instantaneously. However, if your description is the case...then that would be very beneficial. Thank you for the comment.
I will never argue with Wonder Woman being #1. However, Wonder Woman, Isis, and Captain Marvel were all only in the 70s. I do have the very short clip of the only time we got to see Wonder Woman revert back from the costume on my channel for those who would like to see it.
Yes, they were all 1970s. But you do realized the 70s were part of the GEN Xperience, right?
@@GENXPERIENCE I was referring to the title saying "80s"
Villain transformation was cool with mumm ra but I preferred Mon Star's transformation. Tigersharks transformation was impractical but unique just like the villains from the swamp thing cartoon. In the 70s one of the scooby doo clones fangface, the character would change when he so much as saw a picture of the moon
I did a video with Fangface in it. Please check it out. Yes, a lot of people mention Mon Star. I'm looking it up now.
Jem is in the right spot.....top 3
I love hearing some agree with that. Thank you
While relatively basic, Iceman’s transformation in Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends was one my favourites.
You're the 2nd to say that. Some are more memorable than others, but that doesn't mean they aren't awesome
I think one of the most iconic missing from that time period is "Battle of the Planets".... you can see where Power Rangers got their inspiration from
Very true. Great choice
Don’t forget Maya from the 2nd season of Gerry Anderson’s Space 1999.
You are the 2nd to mention her, and I loved that show as a kid...she would have been a great one. THank you
I never realized this till today but..
Mumm-Ra is basically the emperor from star wars except when he transforms he becomes Darth Vader
Hmmm, make that a black cloak, and you got Palpatine to a T.
Kamen Riders,Goldurack, Defenders of the Earth, Super Sentai,Space Sherrif/Vr Troopers, Saint Seiya, Dragon ballZ
Too much Anime. During the bulk (I said BULK) of The GEN Xperience, we were watching more western animation. That's not to say there wasn't some Anime, but not as much as would arrive in the 90s and that is when Millennials were in their own experience. So, I will eave those to them. Defenders of the Earth, though? Hmmmm.
I'm like.... who beats He-Man?.... oh... yeah... that makes sense. Totally.
Lol. Glad you agree. He came close, but...
You should have added the Go-Bots as well.
Go Bots transformations we're simplistic and animated well, but just not remembered as well.
What about Schlepcar to Wonderbug?
Ahhh, only reason he isnt there is because I covered him 2 videos ago in my Sid and Marty Kroft show. But a fun one for sure.
Faster than fast, Smarter than smart, Wonderbug.
Personally, transforming may seen long but personally. Probably a lot faster. But It’s just for show purposes. Take 80s Lions Voltron lol. You think bad guy willing to wait long time. Many great classic choices! I’m
Surprise it’s not number one.
Voltron was indeed AWESOME. I never thought its transformation was all that great...BUT, it is still iconic. I suppose all of these were instantaneous, but just shown for our enjoyment. Thanks for the comment and the view.
Linda/Lynda Carter Mandella love her
Along with mum ra we had monstarr from silverhawks for a super villian transformation
Silverhawks came a little bit later for me, but you're not alone. Many others have also recommended their big baddie.
For me the transformation of the Ramrod Peacekeeper, has always been more epic than any transformer. It’s when kids knew, now we get dramatic and shit hit the fan. Saber Rider and the Star sheriffs a part of my childhood.
Although Saber Rider started to pass MY specific Gen Xperience (where Millennialsvwere coming), I know it was in other people's. I'm sure Ramrodvwas awesome, but Optimus for sure Iconography and staying power through the decades had to make my list. Appreciate your comment, thank you
Also try Manimal, Samurai and Young Samson
Funny, I had both Young Sampson in and Manimal, but they caused some copyright stuff, so I removed them. Thank you, though.
What about the man to animal transformations in Manimal? I thought the effects were great for the time, even though the number of different animal forms used were limited.
Oh, I absolutely agree. I got too many copyrights on that one so I had to replace. But yes, it was great for the time.
Rotoscoping is expensive and time consuming job, no wonder Automan was cut short but they had cool effects in their show
There are so many examples of great rotoscoping though. Obviously tedious, but still cool
Well, if you want another bad guy transformation, look up Min-Star from Silverhawks.
So many people have mentioned Mon Star to me in the comments. So, I see just how memorable he was.
*_Power Rangers, Big Bad Beetleborgs, Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, The Mask, The Crow: Stairway to Heaven._*
Nice choices, but start really bleeding over into Millennial territory. Of course, there's overlap, but those aren't as prevalent in The GEN Xperience.
@GENXPERIENCE As far as the 80s TV specifically, the only one that I've seen that I remember having any kind of transformation sequence was K.I.T.T going Super Pursuit Mode in *_Knight Rider_* Season 4. There was the Salkind's *_Superboy_* series from the late 80s, but it's really just the standard Superman shirt rip. Ooh, I do remember seeing bits of the short-lived 80s *_Hulk_* cartoon on VHS.
I mean, I made my first superhero do the Shazam/Wonder Twins activation.
Just proves how memorable. Thanks for watching
I am not sure if it is 80's or not, but I do miss Battle of the Planets/G-Force
I am pretty sure it is, and was looking at G Force for this, but just stuck with Western IPs...for now. Thank you for the comment, though.
Where is the SDF-1 from Robotech?
Ahh, you know that might have made my list if i was more into it. I did enjoy it sometimes, but I couldn't always follow. Stupid American, I guess, lol.
@@GENXPERIENCE haha I am too, lol. It was a hard show to follow after the Macross series
What about Bravestars partner Thirty Thirty
Oh, I did look at him....it wasn't too bad, but not much of a change. But still a good one. Thank you for commenting.
10:30 Somewhere, a camel is missing its toe. Dang!
Lol. Oh, it was right there front and center. You'd think someone would have noticed. Then again, they have been like, COOL
How have I never heard of "Visionaries?"
Short lived, a little later for me... but totally up my alley!
I stumbled across it at some point way back, even had one of the toys, but it certainly wasn't one that most people talked about.
Spiderman and his Amazing Friends
Bionic Six
Bionic Six were just getting late into the GEN Xperience, when we shared with the Millennials.
I also liked Mighty Orbots
He-MAN was Based off Young Samson and Goliath Cartoon show
I can see some inspiration for the cartoon for sure.
The Gremlins
Hmmm. On the fence with that one (I love them), but maybe not as memorable...just an incredible result, lol. Thanks for commenting
If you watch Cutie Honey from Japan you'll realize that she did the magic quick change 10 years before Jem. And how could you exclude Sailor Moon
Mostly because she starts so late in the Gen Xperience, she overlaps too far into Millennials experience....not my focus. If western culture was much more prevalent at the time, although there was a nice handful of Asian options to choose from.
You forgot Superboy from the 1988 series.
I never thought superman transformations were much of a big wow factor...and I think he is an awesome character. Nothing consiste t but pulling shirt open either. But there are a few good ones, for sure.
Hold on Hold on..... Clark Kent is Kal El's Secret Identity lol just saying 😊
Uh, no...no, I didn't mean to say that. Forget what I said, lol.
Voltron Defender of The Universe ❤
For some reason I did not add him. He is awesome, but maybe I thought he was too much of an assembly, lol. But still great.
@@GENXPERIENCE 😂😂😂
You never watched Filmation's Ghostbusters, right?
Maybe once, not my cup of tea. Was there a GOOD MAGICAL transformation in it? If not, I guess it wouldn't make this list.
@@GENXPERIENCE Yep. This transformation happened every episode: ua-cam.com/video/v8IwmKBJMME/v-deo.html
Missed etrigan the demon. Dc comics tv animation.
Isn't that bit too far into Millennial territory?
Mighty Orbots
Their transformation was pretty good.
Teen Wolf
I watched that cartoon...but now I have to go back and remember the transformation. Thanks for jogging my memory
You forgot Manimal.
Couldn't put him in. Copyright got me when I tried.
There is no Sailor Moon in it? :(
A shame.
She was in it originally, and her transformation is good AND LONG, but she also came around 1989 and that is when the GEN Xperience begins to overlap with the Millennial experience, and I give her to them.
I was ready to rip you to shreds if Wonder Woman wasn't #1!!!! But you surprised me!!!! Now I whole heartedly love you!!
You forgot "Manimal". I liked the show, because I'm an animal lover, but it didn't last long. I don't even think it was one season.
ua-cam.com/video/dNX5Z9WwHF0/v-deo.html
And yes, that is THE Melody Anderson that was in the 80's Flash Gordon movie.
Elecktra Woman and Dyna Girl. Cheesy.....absolutely, but still. One of my favorite shows.
I hope you truly would not want to do that to a stranger, but as you see I am civilized enough to make sure WW was #1. As she deserves. Manimal was in there...just too many copyright issues, lol. Thank you for your views and comments.
@@GENXPERIENCE No, I wouldn't have shredded you. I know you don't know me, but I have a sarcastic sense of humor. LOL
Missing Voltron
Hmmm, I'm not sure I saw him as a transformation as MUCH a configuration, but I think it is close enough. He could have made the list...he is AWESOME
I'm disappointed with your list! How dare you put The Incredible Hulk as #4! It deserves to be much higher on this list!
Sorry, when it comes to iconographic, some other just nudged forward.
I always thought that, enuniverse, time was frozen while He-Man and She-Ra transformed. That being said, I don't watch their shows anymore, mainly because of the kind of 🤮I now know the music composers to have always been
Yeah, I guess the time standing still thing works. Uh, regarding the composers...um,, okay
You made me think. I’m glad Wonder Woman dodged all this woke shit, She Hulk took the hit instead. And maybe, when the woke dust clears, Wonder Woman will get the show she deserves.
Note: Love She-Hulk. She deserved better. ✨💪🌟✨
It is true, she got skipped. And yeah, She Hulk could have been saved.
Mighty man and Yuck
That freaked me out.
He-Man’s transformation is more iconic to me than even any particular Transformer.
Wonder Woman’s transformation is too corny. The spinning is cringeworthy now.
Really? That spinning was incredibly awesome magical transformation. Power of the gods, there. Regarding He Man, that's why he is where he is on the list compared to Optimus if you remember from watching the video.
Nothing about getting to see Linda Carter from all angles is cringe.
Spider-Woman HERSELF, copied it a few years LATER okay @RetroDaze.
Hands down Wonder Woman’s transformation rocks! My honorable mentions are the transformations in The Space Giants and Ultraman.
You are the 2nd to mention Ultraman, so definitely a great mention. Thank you
