Scholl Concepts S20 Black Review: Does a 1-step compound and polish really exist. Find out!

  • Scholl Concepts S20 is an amazing compound and polish all in one. Not to be confused by a tradtional all-in-one (AOI) that includes a wax or sealant as part of the formulation. This 1-step is design to do aggressive compounding and polishing to almost complete perfection. The only time you may need to follow with an additional polish is on a black car for a hyper critical eye. After all is said in done, this product get's Darren's double thumbs up stamp of approval in all areas of performance.

R8 Clubby: Good to know. I'm in the same boat..
Trying to make up my mind which polish to use.
It's either this one shown (Scholl S20) or the Menzerna SuperFinish 3500
      (Previously Called SF4000)
..Or the 3M Perfect-It EX Ultra Fine Machine Polish.
But thanks for letting us know you had great results with this stuff..

Can't make my mind up about a single step polish, for removing very minor swirls, from a Range Rover Evoque (Grey) It's in preparation for giving a Bano Ceramic Coat of Gtechniq C1+Exo or Mr Fix-It 9H..
It's either this one shown (Scholl S20)
      Or:
Menzerna Super Finish 3500 (Was SF4000)
Or 3M Perfect-It EX Ultra Fine Machine Polish..
      Any suggestions welcome..!

@@JayKay-ht8rg Scholl S20 would be a bit much for very minor swirls. You could use something much less aggressive. The Menzerna 3500 would be fine. And I hope you didn't put that Mr Fix crap on your car.

I love this stuff. I've used it with my DA polisher to diminish pretty noticeable scratches: to the point that you need to go hunting for them with your nose rubbing the paint. It also works just as well for headlamp restoration.

Great video. At one point I was more fascinated by the garbage truck, living in the UK we would have 4 or 5 guys following behind lol. I like the fact you just carry on and don't go back and edit the videos to take out the background distractions. I use the Costco fibre cloths, nothing wrong with them, after a few uses they get passed indoors for the housework. Keep up the videos they are great thank you.

I like that you're using and advocating for the rotary. Cut the scratch with the rotary, take the swirls out with the random orbital. Cutting the scratches is so much faster with the rotary and the swirls die before they hit the ground with the next shot is my go to method as well.

    • @STILLNIGHTPEARL
      @STILLNIGHTPEARL 7 років тому +2

wytwolfen you can do the same with the longthrow, just throw a microfiber cutting pad on it. With the new buff and shine urofiber pad you can do everything with one pad and product. It's pretty amazing.

    Great video Darren!
On the subject of buffers, as an all round versatile tool a rotary will always be great, it does what you tell it to do, you can get 90% of a vehicle with a single machine making it ideal when you are mobile and have space limitations, less machines same amount of work done. Even for the beginners out there, being so versatile they are a great tool to learn with, and they won't bite your head off, especially with a slower machine like a flex. Now with pad and polish technology, carrying less product is getting easier and easier too which is important for me!

Very good product and results. Here in Madeira island, Portugal that compound is 40 something euros and that blue pad is 22€. I think that in many cases a paint enhancement is what customers are looking for. Many of them dont even have that eye for detail but of course our job is not to hide anything from our customers. We just want happy customers.

Awesome video Darren! To bad the hood shot really didnt work out but the fender one was A+. I know you probably have a whole slew of other products to try but since you loved Speed and now did a video on this you should look at doing a video on HD Adapt. I got a bottle of it and I bet it would be just about on par with this. I used it with a rotary and Meguirs Hyper Wool pad (very aggressive wool pad) and only got slight hazing out of it. Will take out 2000 grit sandpaper no problem.

    Faster
    Great results
Can buff hours on end without getting tired.
A D.A however anyone can learn how to use it quickly.
I also have the Rupes 15 and the Flex 3401, both are fine machines but if I had to recommend one to a new comer I'd go with the Rupes, it's so easy to use, slower compared to a rotary but gets the job done.

I did a while ago a dark blue BMW x5 with PF2500, blue MF from rupes on a Rupes 21 with almost perfect results. +Marcus Quinones Because of my experience, I could have finished the job completely with the DeWalt. I chose the rotary as it will perform the paint correction far quicker than any DA will do. I simply switch to the DA to remove any holograms as it is an easier machine to control and use, and sometimes I just like to switch things up.

Hey Darren I'm working on a budget I just purchased a semi used rotary buffer (dewalt) just like yours. I'm wanting to try this on my 2012 buick lacrosse that is a pearl white. do you think I could really mess it up with this type of buffer or should I give it a try on a low speed and see what it does? I have been watching alot of your videos and chemical guys vids. I'm trying to learn all I can before attempting to try this. thanks for taking the time out to show us how to use these products properly

Read your label on the isopropyl alcohol bottle dude, It's IPA not ISP. The last thing we need is the introduction of another acronym......

I'm just curious as to why 22 people didn't like this video. what are they seeing that the rest of us can't? also I'm just curious when I see the finished work you are adamant about it not being "perfect" what more would you do to make it perfect and what are you seeing that is causing only a 95% finish rating from you?

So the aggressivness of the pad is what does the correcting?
to compound I would use a cutting pad
to polish I would use a polishing pad
and to finish with a finer polishing I would use a finish pad..
    all with the same product?
