I think this is the '77 line up from heavy weather with jaco, but this track is from the '76 album black market with alphonso johnson on bass and chester thompson on drums. I think weather report are the most true world music and all done 35 years ago, amazing.R.I.P. Joe.
Here i am waiting for the end...waiting to see HOW in the world they are all going to end on the ONE....and the fucking video fades out. weather reportus interruptus !!!! That's the hardest I may have ever seen two percussioninst work, Acuna and Badrena!!! Spectacular!

my only regrets about him joining Weather Report was him getting into the whole drinking lifestyle that really contributed to his unstable behavior late into his career. Zawinul said in an interview that before Weather Report Jaco didn't even drink, and says he regretted giving pressuring him into alcohol because he stated he saw something different in him as soon as he had his first drink..sigh the kid was so young too
That last part it's all black keys for the keyboard (Eb-Gb-Ab-Bb-Db-Eb) but for a brief moment it seems like bass is playing (E-G-A-B-D-E) are the bass strings lowered by a half step or the keyboard transposed half step up or is it my imagination?
What a fantastic 10 minutes of viewing and listening,,,now going to play again
I love the way Alex Acuna plays...
best of the best
I especially like the very funky synchopahtic break-inn at 0:58. Marvellous performance!
Gosh .. dont you feel like jumping about your seat hearing that bass...jaco is the GUUURUUU of bass
Weather Report's best superior live performance at Montreux Jazz Festival, july, '75.

the intro reminds me of Blade Runner every time i listen to it

Love Shorter's compositions, Palladium, Elegant People... not so crazy for his playing though
