    Austin chilling on the block wall smoking a stogie really has the vibe I'm into. That and the whole 80s Tom Selleck thing. Love it!

    You guys remind me of when we were in our 20's cept we messed with mud trucks. Mine was a 68 Bronco called "Mud Puppy". The Caddy is cool by the way. Glad to see your serious about it.

    That’s funny, I am a follower of ruined Cadillacs too, I am working on a 1956 Cadillac I pulled out of a pig barn that it sat in since 1992. I started watching this channel because of the Cadillac actually lol!

      Hell yeah.
      Your car looks nicer than mine. I've also worked on a 56ish Fleetwood in the past but it was an older restoration and didn't get outside much while I was around.

      @@Jon-in-nashville Sweet, the guy I bought mine from had like 20 Cadillacs in the barn ranging from 1937-1964 with an oddball pair of 1974 identical sisters. Most were in various states of preserved in dirt, all were driven into the barn decades ago. He loved the thrill of the hunt and capture, drove them a little bit then moved on to the next one. My interior I thought was trashed when I thought it was leather but it seems at some point the interior was redone in original style with cloth instead and aside from a disintegrated steering wheel, the interior survived flawlessly. Just a little bit of crusty chrome, some oxidized paint and I think I scored a rust free barn find. I’m not even done fixing the 56 and I’m already dreaming about the next buy I get out of the hoard.

    When you buy a car like that, you are buying a shell essentially, and know you will have to fix things to make it work- I totally understand how it ended up with some 305 in it, I don't know much about Caddy engines but I am sure it was worn out or something and there ain't exactly a crate engine for that sitting at O'Reillys.

    • @Jon-in-nashville
      @Jon-in-nashville 11 місяців тому

      I had the theory that, _if it ran,_ someone grabbed the engine to put in a nicer car. And it ended up with what's in it now after that happened. I don't have anything to back that up beyond the guy I got it from also not knowing what happened to the original 390.
      There was a long time sitting in this car's life but now it sometimes goes grocery shopping and gets me questions outside of concert venues instead of becoming a monument to waste in a yard somewhere.

    Just wondering why you guys didn't pull the upper grille and straighten it while you had it apart? I the fasteners are prolly rusty but I'm sure you could make it look better. Oh well...

      If I remember correctly,
      Fastener #1 & #2 both broke and I didn't have the heart to keep going when there were more important jobs to get finished at the time.
      But now my front turn signals are *both* functioning. Which is an improvement over the before shot.

      yeah but at some point an old owner swapped in the 305 v8 I guess ir is out of a 1978 truck or van.

      @Jon-in-nashville 11 місяців тому +1

      A 331-based 390 would have been factory. Good engines. I bought the car already swapped.
      It is not the highest standards of work but it does now run ok. I took it to cars and coffee and it'll cruise at 80 if you want (you shouldn't).

    I just replaced the fuel pump, sending unit, and rear gas tank in my 1994 f-150 4x4 RCSB 5.0 5 speed. It was a huge pain in the ass cuz I was being stubborn about draining the gas out of it. I broke down and bought a pump and couple of buckets to keep the fuel in. plus the oreilly fuel pump reserviour didn't fit right so I put the new fuel pump and sending unit on the old outside plastic piece and reattatched everything to it. it sucks doing it in your driveway cuz where I live it gets really cold plus not having a lift and jack stands really helps. I couldve had it done in a couple of hours had I been in a shop and with all the right tools they have put I had to do what I could with it! I really don't know why they can't just put an access cover to the fuel pump on all cars and trucks its so stupid! the 1st pump lasted 30 years so hopefully i'll never have to do it again!
