Hi I am a US Citizen living abroad and I have filled my 2019 tax return. I received a check in the post for the first payment. I never received form 1444 and in the second round of EIP I never received the second payment of $600. I can't seem to create a IRS account as every time I try it says they have different information. So right now i have no way of getting my account transcript. Other than that I am concerned how i will receive the credit as I earn below the Foreign exchange threshold and pay no taxes to the US and therefore don't want it to be issued as a credit on my 2020/2021 tax return? If that makes sense? So don't understand how they will pay me the $600 and my fingers are crossed that somehow the $1400 comes in form of a check

This is a lifesaver Stephen, thank you! What made this form impossible to fill out for me is that on lines 5 (EIP 1) and 8 (EIP 2), the wording did not specify if it was talking about what you were eligible for -- "If your EIP was..." can mean what you are eligible for! -- or what you have actually received. It is a simple word -- received -- and should have been included. And just a heads up, those of us who live overseas cannot make an on-line account, so as far as I know, there is no way to find out what IRS has on their records. Would telephoning the IRS helpline give me answers?

Mr. Lee.. I contacted IRS and finally spoke with an actual IRS Agent. I was only informed that in order to claim both stimulus checks I missed.. All I would need is to fill out a 1040 form and put the amount of $1800 on line #30. Nothing was ever mentioned about another form I needed to fill out like in your video. This "Recovery Rebate Worksheet"?? It can't even be found to download or print IRS site. But the IRS Agent assured me all I needed was a 1040. And I don't even know if I filled it out right. I didn't work in 2020. Do I also need to fill that " Recovery Rebate Worksheet " out? And if so where do I find it online? Thanks.
Thank you for the question. You can find the recovery worksheet in the instructions to the Form 1040. I recommend you still complete the worksheet first before inputting anything on line 30.

How can I file for a Recovery Rebate Credit if I get SSI and if my income is only $9,528.00 ?
Thank you for the question Nicole. The Recovery Rebate can only be requested/claimed if you file a 2020 income tax return. Hey Thanks for the Information! I’m single and don’t have any kids and never got any of the stimulus checks. I just did my taxes on TurboTax and they added the stimulus money on my tax refund. So does that mean I can’t apply for the recovery rebate credit? If I still can how would I enter the numbers in?
Hi, Would you able to do a video showing up step by step of how to claim the recovery rebate by filing online? I tried doing it online but it doesn't ask any questions about the recovery rebate
Thank you for your video. I'm a little confused and hope you can respond. The Recovery Rebate Credit can also be used to claim credit on the fund approved by IRS but not received. Assume taxpayer is qualified the full amount of EIP 1&2. However, taxpayer had only received EIP2. If AGI for 2020 is $80K (as single), instead of getting the missed stimulus check for $1200, Recovery Rebate Credit is limited which taxpayer does not receive full amount. Was I wrong?
Thank you for the great question and comment. You are correct, you should receive the partial amount based on your 2020 AGI, reported on your 2020 income tax return. Please make sure you did not have any other taxes due which may offset the EIP 1 you did not receive.
I have already sent in my 2020 taxes, but I need to claim the recovery rebate credit since I did not receive EIP 2 (single, $600). How do I show this on a 1040X Form? Thank you! :)

I do have a quick question though, I file jointly and have 2 child dependents, however last year our AGI was over $160k so we received reduced EIP payments, does this mean I should be putting in the amount of $1800 since we didn't receive the full $2400 on line 5?
Where d I you get the form? Still haven't received 2 stimulus! Had to order a copy of my Social security 1099. Neither they, nor IRS, have correct address, which shouldn't matter as my bank info is the same. My income is the same, except for the COLA OF 1% OR 3% WHICH THEY COULD BARELY SPARE.
I am confused about the child tax credit you have and the tax forms. Which do I need to fill out and where can I get the Child Tax Credit Recovery Form that you have in your video. I searched the IRS website I don't see that form. I only see the tax forms they are saying to fill out.
I have a question. How can I claim this credit for the second stimulus check if I already filed my taxes ? Can this worksheet be printed and filed ? What do I do if I forgot to claim the second stimulus credit on my taxes
What happens if I already filed online with TurboTax, but my stimulus refund was only $600, instead of the $1200 I should have received based on irs record? Irs says not to amend???
I have a question! My wife and I got married in 2020. Since she was claimed as a dependent under her parents for 2018 and 2019, she didn’t qualify for either EIP (and her parents income was too high to receive any EIP). However, since the rebate is based off of 2020 taxes, she would no longer be a dependent, and under the taxes which we will file jointly for 2020, she would qualify for the rebate based on our joint income. When we go into her IRS account, she doesn’t have any files come up for account transcript. Her taxes up to this point were all filed under her parents. Is she going to have all the information she needs to be able to qualify for a rebate for the 1st and 2nd EIP? Thank you!

If you have an adult dependent, you claim on your taxes for years 2018 and 2019 and going to claim them again for 2020 taxes and you yourself was eligible for the both stimulus checks and received both checks. Does that mean you wont receive the recovery credit for your adult depend?
Watch it! The small print will tell you that the IRS must run a "soft" credit check on you. The excuse is that they need to make sure you are who you say you are. Personally, I don't think they have any business doing that. If you don't want them to do that, be careful about creating an account.

Great video! I have one question that might sound dumb though; do I have to attach the Recovery Rebate Worksheet to my 1040 when I file or is it simply for my own use to help me know what to put on line 30?

Thank you for the support and great question. You can obtain it using this link: www.ssa.gov/myaccount/replacement-SSA-1099.html
You will have to create an account, but once you have, you can request a new SSA-1099. Have a wonderful day!
@@locumcpa Thank you for a quick response! I did try to create an account with SSN office, but for some reason, the SSN office system will not let me create the account. Therefore, if IRS has my SSA-1099 (tax year 2020) transcript in their system, I would like to try to get from the IRS. Do you think they (IRS) have SSA-1099 (tax year 2020) Now. Again, thank you for your assistance.
@@tko77777 Thank you for the follow up. The IRS transcript should show any reportable SSA-1099 income. I would still contact the SSA by phone and request the SSA-1099.
@@locumcpa Thank you so much for your follow up.
I didn´t receive my transcript and I can not get it but I already know the exact amount, just called IRS. Do I need to get to claim the missing money? Thanks!
If you were qualified and did not receive a payment, you should claim the missing payments via the recovery rebate.
What happens if I try to claim the 1200 stim even though i did get it?
My EIP on my transcript is 0. I accidentally claimed myself as a dependent on 2019 taxes.
Can i just put 1800 on line 30 for the 1040 if im just a single dude who makes 50k with no kids?
That should work.
I have done the same mistake. So you just send the 1040 form? And then they send you the money?
@@spirospoulimas4760 Nope!! Not even. At least on Turbotax.
I filed a few weeks ago. I said this time around that im NOT a dependent.
At the end, turbotax was like “oh hey, it looks like u qualify for the stimulus checks and u havent received any yet. No worries, we’ll add it onto your tax refund”
So my $200 tax refund became $2k. All i did was check off that no one can claim me as a dependent when i did my taxes on turbotax this year.
I didnt even see the 1040 form or didnt even have any lines to fill in like “add line 20 and 21 together and thats line 30 etc etc.
All i had to do was plug and chug my w2’s from work and turbo tax did the rest. Took me 20min
Stephen I need your help. If I have not received the stimulus 1200 and 600 and my AGI is zero. I have to put on the line 11 zero and on the line 30 1800?. The file will be done electronically.
Yes, you would put the full eligible amount on line 30. Can you be claimed as a dependent of another, as you did not have any income in 2020?
@@locumcpa I live abroad without an income in the United States. I did Non Filer with zero AGI in 2020. Now I have to do the 1040 for Recovery Rebate Credit. Do I need to do anything else at 1040?
Do I need to mail this worksheet as long with my 1040 form to IRS?
Great question. No, you do not attach it with your return.
@@locumcpa Thanks.
My account transcript for 2020 is n/a what does that mean?
N/A typically means that the return has not yet been processed. Please note that the IRS is scheduled to begin accepting 2020 tax returns on Feb 12, 2021.
My father died 2020.my mom could have $600.00 stimulus check claim possible? She got hers stimulus money, but not my father's...someone said government decided deceased person at 2020 still has chance to get it.is this true?both parent usually get supplement money every month.
First off, I am sorry for your loss Julia. In regards to your question, yes, it is true, those who passed away in 2020 who may have been eligible can claim the Recovery Rebate credit. I recommend for your mother to file jointly for 2020 and claim any eligible Recovery Rebate credits.
@@locumcpa thank you very much
Where I can find the form 1040 recovery rebate credit line 30 worksheet ?
Page 59: www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf
Do we have to print this form out complete it and
Mail it In ?
If you have an adult dependent, you claim on your taxes for years 2018 and 2019 and going to claim them again for 2020 taxes and you yourself was eligible for the both stimulus checks and received both checks. Does that mean you wont receive the recovery credit for your adult depend?
Correct. If you claim the adult dependent again in 2020, then you cannot claim one for them.
Watch it! The small print will tell you that the IRS must run a "soft" credit check on you. The excuse is that they need to make sure you are who you say you are. Personally, I don't think they have any business doing that. If you don't want them to do that, be careful about creating an account.
If I already know the amount they owe me, do I still have to do the worksheet?
I would to make sure your inputting the correct amount.
@@locumcpa But is the worksheet part of the mandatory process? Like, will it be rejected without it?
I signed up to irs.com and i checked tax transcript 2020 it shows a code 290 with $0 amount , on 2 different dates 5/11/20 and 1/18/21 .. what does it mean ?? Thank you
Hey Stephen I need some advice on what I should do. So I am 19, first year filing independent, and I am trying to do the recovery rebate. I tried getting my account transcript through online, but couldnt(have a debit card, and use nelnet for student loans) so I tried getting it mailed and they couldn't complete it. I've also tried calling but no luck there aswell.
Thank you Juan for the question. In regards to the recovery rebate, can you be claimed as a dependent by someone else (i.e. parents)? If so, you do not qualify for the recovery rebate. Please check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/HW_sUhDfJBQ/v-deo.html In regards to the IRS transcript, I continue to call to see if you can get through and help.
@@locumcpa ok thanks
Where do I find the worksheet?
It will be in the 1040 instructions, page 51.
How do you turn on your notification?
Where that Notification located in page?
Thank you, Stephen
Great question! You can turn on your notification for this channel by going to the channel's home/main youtube page and click on the bell icon next to "Subscribe". That will turn on your notifications for this page. Thank you again!
Great video! I have one question that might sound dumb though; do I have to attach the Recovery Rebate Worksheet to my 1040 when I file or is it simply for my own use to help me know what to put on line 30?
Thank you for the comment and question. You do not file the worksheet but only use it to calculate what should be put on line 30. :)
That’s a great question for me also. What is the answer?
How do we print out the recovery rebate worksheet?
IRS website

@@locumcpa thank you !
Can we mail this sheet along with our 1040 for the return to the irs ?
@@gj471 You can but I highly recommend for you to file electronically and include your direct deposit information.
what if it's going to be my first time filing? will i also receive a notice 1444? and theres no account transcript on my account.
Thank you for the question. You should only receive a Notice 1444 if you qualified for and received a stimulus payment. If you qualify for a stimulus payment based on your 2020 income tax return and have not received a payment, I recommend for you to complete the worksheet and submit your 2020 return with the calculated recovery credit number.
@@locumcpa i haven't received a stimulus check but based on my 2020 income i am eligible for the recovery rebate credit. do i just wait for the notice 1444 from the mail?
@@charlesandrade5476 I would wait a few more weeks before filing. If the Notice 1444 does not arrive by late February, I would complete the rebate worksheet and submit your 2020 tax return with the requested qualifying stimulus amounts.
Hello, I’m trying to make an account but it’s not letting me because of my 8 digits or my card. How can I fix that? Do I have to apply the card I used to pay my 2018-2019 tax return?
Thank you for the question. I would first check to make sure your bank account information is up to date. I do not recommend you try to have the stimulus reloaded to an old card.
@@locumcpa oh okay thank you one more question, during the pandemic I was working for the food delivery company’s so my tax form it’s a 1099. Would I still be able to apply for the recovery rebate?
I have a SS number, I am getting food stamps each month, I filed for disability in 2017, I haven't received any stimulus, can you please help me?
I am on Social Security Disability for different medical reasons. I received the first Stimulus check, but not the second one. I changed banks. SSA has been direct depositing my monthly income to my new bank account since December 2020. Please do a video on how I can do a Recovery Rebate. I have a SSA 1099 form. Thanks in advance.
Hi i hope you can help me my stimulus check payment of 600dollars been send to my close bank acct and the bank return the check I don't know now how will I receive or get it would u know any information i needed to do???
Thank you for the question. If the IRS had the wrong/closed bank account information and was able to retrieve the stimulus payment back from the bank, you can claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return.
Hi thank u for answering so u mean i will not expect a check no more and just file it??
One more question im using hnr block for my taxes and the 1040 form i just read today in recovery rebate credit does not have a option were i put a 600 dollars for my second stimulus check only is showing there is the 1200 where can i fillup that I didn't receive the second stimulus of 600 dollars???
@@mirasolcervantes7787 I would first check the status of the stimulus payment via www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment If it states you will receive a paper check, I would still wait a few more weeks before filing your 2020 income tax return.
How would you file out for people on Supplement security income? My mom get $943 monthly. She's never file taxes and doesn't receive any form to file taxes. I have claimed her on my 2019, but this year I won't claim her..
She will have to file for herself
I recommend she file independently for 2020.
