This episode aired 15 minutes before our lunch break my senior year of high school. I was in physics class, with several friends who also watched the show, and we would surreptitiously check youtube for the thumbnail at the end of class to see if we could get any hints about the content of the episode. We saw this thumbnail, and as soon as the bell rang we SPRINTED downstairs to the senior girls bathroom and huddled around someone's iPad to watch it together. By far one of the most memorable days of the whole year

One of the things I really love is how this kiss contrasts with Bing/Jane's. Theirs is sweet, like the Disney royalty they look like, but also suits their light personalities. That would have never worked with someone as passionate as these too, even though Darcy's passion is very well hidden. The kiss matched the type of people they are. The choreography when Lizzie first goes in is so tight it had to have been practiced. Thanks to both of you for putting in the unpaid time to make it work so well.
I am embarrassed by how many times I watched this episode back in the day. It was so romantic and brilliantly acted. I still think it’s the best on screen kiss I’ve ever seen because there was so much emotion from the characters in it.

I remember RUNNING back to my apartment to watch this specific episode. Screamed at the kiss. Texted my friends who were also watching the show, in all caps, to scream about the kiss. And then later that night with the student group I advised, some of my exec board members walked into the room and went "DID YOU WATCH LBD TODAY" and we then proceeded to continue to freak out about this episode. It just all worked SO WELL.

I remember the tumblr posts analyzing the blocking of the kiss, like how she invades his space first, then he invades her space and then the last time they meet in the middle. amazing. you both did a great job. it was worth all the build up 💚💚💚
That comment from DVG about the fans is so true. I was on a LBD fan community during the release of the show and I am still friends with several people from that time, we travelled cross-borders to meet with each other and I'm honestly so grateful for that. I also had the biggest smile on my face for this entire episode (to the point that my cheeks hurt a bit as a result). It's honestly such a pleasure to see you and Daniel interact!

I am not at all surprised about the rehearsal that went into this episode, I always felt like it was a piece of choreography. Darcy looks away, Lizzie smiles, Darcy looks back, just as Lizzie turns to kiss him, honestly, FLAWLESS. I have such fond memories of my (Australian time) 4am wake-up (not alarm, literally just my brain screaming WAKE UP IT’S HAPPENING) I couldn’t stop talking about it and got to uni and insisted my friends watch it, even though they had watched no other episodes (Pride and Prejudice refusers, IDIOTS) and I remember so clearly one friend saying Ladies and Gentlemen now THAT is a kiss! Thank you for this masterpiece ❤️
11:17 on the topic of “echos” or parallels to previous episodes - I absolutely love how every time Darcy enters he just stands there and says “Excuse me, Lizzie” and every time the ensuing Lizzie-bot malfunctions are increasingly more awkward 😂

What DVG said about the friends we made from this show - I met one of my best friends as a freshman in university because we bonded over the LBD, and we live in different countries now but are still friends to this day.

I have watched this episode an embarrassing number of times and every time I swear the chemistry actually FIZZLES out of my screen. They deserve all the recognition and hype for all their hard work! It also totally helps that you can tell they're really fond of each other as people and that makes me so so so happy

The reason the cheek thing works is because it clearly works for Lizzie. It's dorky but you play it as a dorky thing that works for her so me, watching goes... "Yeah. That's perfect."

Pretty sure my tumblr was just reblogs of the same gif sets of this episode for AT LEAST a solid 48 hours lol. My feelings also earned me “The Dizzie Award” in one of my college club’s silly paper plate award thing at the end of the school year (the decoration on my plate was a cartoon of me sobbing tears of joy 😂)
You know the kiss is phenomenal when you don't even need a soundtrack to feel the heat!

I was busier than usual today but spent the whole day happy that I had this specific Look Back Diaries episode to look forward to. It did not disappoint!

Am I remembering correctly that you picked your nail polish for the sparkles so it would catch better on camera during the tie play? I think you mentioned it on your Tumblr forever ago 😂
Oh gosh, I forgot that! I never wore nail polish on shoot days because it was improbable that Lizzie‘a nail color would only change once a month, but for the final shoot day I wore a very subtle almost “nude” nail polish that was a little sparkly!
Thinking about "close framing = a sense of intimacy" and replaying a bunch of movies over in my head. There are so many lightbulbs going off it's like a fireworks shows.
I know two people whose relationships moved really fast. One of my friends met her husband on a blind date in college, and they decided by the end of the evening to become engaged to be married. They were engaged for two years (they were at separate colleges), and married until he passed away unexpectedly (very sad) just before their 30th anniversary. My other friend had known her husband for a couple of years because they worked for the same company, and she was reluctant to accept him when he asked her on a date. Three weeks after their first date they were engaged and got married a year later (and are still married). That being said, I always advise never rushing into things.
I always remember that in the bloopers they had so much fun doing these scenes 🤭

Rewatching the episode 10 years later (now almost 30 years old), I still squealed out loud, had to pause the video to hyperventilate, and rewatched the moment when Lizzie first kisses Darcy three times before continuing to watch the rest of the episode...
Now and then, this episode makes me so happy! You guys were perfect Darcy and Lizzie.
I liked that Lizzie didn't jump straight to "I love you" for similar reasons to those mentioned. Kate made it canon in the books a few days later in the timeline, but Lizzie doesn't say it in any episode.
I was in my college dorm room when this episode aired and the kiss happened and I squealed so loudly my roommates thought something was wrong 😂

Also, not ashamed to admit that each 💘 stands for a rewatch whenever the entire series rewatch cycles around to this point: must replay 3x minimum. Once to watch Lizzie’s face the whole time, once to watch Darcy’s, & once to watch the whole beautifully choreographed dance of it. True perfection!

I had to watch this episode while hiding behind my hands. The chemistry is so good that even hearing y'all discuss it professionally I'm still only thinking about the story and the characters. Ashley and DVG just don't exist while I watch this scene, it's only Lizzie and Darcy. Oh, and I don't see any lint (I looked!) so no, you didn't curse us all with visions of eyebrow lint. :P
