Been fishing my Vr75 since late last season into this spring with fish up to 20lbs. Absolutely love this reel, light weight, strong great drag and quality all around. Paired with a 7’ up to 8,6” rod and works grwat
Great pics in your opening. I used to be a hardcore like that. Now I'm old and soft. Can't deal with Montauk any more and the hard surf, wetsuits corkers and being battered by surf and waves. That was 25 yrs ago. Now I fish for river and lake stripers. Easier on my 65 yr old bones. Lol. P.s. causeway bait is still in business? Wow I used to live in Wantagh 25 years ago
Not sure if you mentioned this or not but the VR 50 and 75 share the same base and rotor... essentially the same reel... the spools are interchangeable. .VR 125 and 150 share the same body and the VR 175 and 200 share the same body. HOWEVER on the 125/150 and 175/200 there are Gen 1 & 2 with the beefed up shaft. Understand that Gen 1 spools will not work on Gen 2 reels and vice versa.
Yes they are basically the same body reel similar to that of a vsx 100 and 150 just a different spool size so on and so forth. The beefed up shaft and gears really harps on the improvements to already an outstanding reel and company 💯
It is a power house of a reel. It is no different than plugging with a 3 or 4000 size reel on the boat. If im specifically targeting big fish and big fish only, then ill size up to a 150 vsx2, vsx200 or vsx 250.
Jesus! Yes everyone reading the comments, come. Alot of big fish there cast after cast. Also poachers welcome plenty of exciting hiding spots to hide your schoolies. Come on mann!!
Hey man getting mixed reviews on these vr75 i was thinking bout making the 50 or 75 my fluke, small stripers basically my buck tail and lite lure beach and pier setup
The vr 50 and 75 are great for stripers haven’t had issues with any teen sized bass, not sure how the new penn dx reels are I haven’t had the chance to get my hands on one
Love Causeway Bait and tackle.....Soon like you said we have nice weather coming up...Fish on
Absolutely tight lines 🎣💯
Hey now that some time has passed would you prefer the 50 or the 75?

Do you spool vr series the opposite direction from traditional spinning reels?
No same direction
Have landed multiple fish over 30lb with the VR50 it has no problem whatsoever

How can you tell the difference of the gen1 vr50 and the gen 2 vr50
Not entirely sure. I know the larger models it is easier to decipher since the gen 2 have a larger drag knob.
How can you tell if the reel is gen 1 or 2? It doesn’t say on the box neither the reel
it will say x series or x2 series on the box
I should have took off the spool on both of them and compared the shafts I bet you the same,vr 50 and 75 are the same reel
Yes same reel body different spool size
Good review, I have the VR50B and just ordered the VR75 silver.
Thanks man, both great reels, fish on 🎣💯
How did you not say how much slick the VR 75 holds? Lol
forgot
It’s all French to me. I just fish my Daiwa. Lol. Looking forward to hitting the surf with you. Who is this Von Stoll you speak of?
