Oh my goodness I need your help!! Our house burned down in October 2020 along with COVID and my father and sister passing away it has been overwhelming!! They said I have two years to finish the claim. Our home was completely ruined and the process of gathering an inventory of lost items is so hard and devastating. I am a single mother of two daughters and been caring for my sickly mother, I need all the advice I can get to complete this inventory list!! We are desperate at this point to get back to a normal life but we are very grateful to be alive!!

I had a fire in my sons bedroom and a smoke went through my bedroom and my other son’s bedroom and down the hallway into the bottom half of the first floor cause I could smell it, so I asked for a cash advance because I am displaced right now and someone said I should have a public adjuster but I’m regretting it now because he hasn’t really done much for me and it’s almost going to my third week and I asked for a cash emergency advance because I couldn’t keep paying for meals and assess it is in clothes and things that we needed. Also, I have my dog with me and we’re in a hotel and it keeps saying as a check for me but it hasn’t happened. what should I do?
So overwhelming! Insurance is great, it unfortunately they aren't super helpful in the first few weeks after a fire. I would definitely reach out to red cross and see what all is available in your area. Did they say that you have a check that you just haven't gotten yet?
I'm so overwhelmed with compiling the personal property list after my shed burned down. I requested to join the Facebook group! I made the mistake of saying most of the shed contents were designated for starting an eBay business. They limited my coverage to $1,000 dollars and will only pay on personal. It's still overwhelming separating it all!

How do you get them to pay you for the labor involved in removal and inventory? I’ve already paid someone else to help me do the work, but I had to do most of it.
I am just starting the process of rebuilding and have no knowledge. I don't want to get railroaded just because I am timid in nature and rarely stand up for myself.

Do you know any cheap renters insurance that covers home-business inventory of stored products?
I am not sure. I would start local and see what a local agent can help you find.

I am sorry for the loss of all those things. Has insurance been helpful?
