How do you get them to pay you for the labor involved in removal and inventory? I’ve already paid someone else to help me do the work, but I had to do most of it.

Hopefully you get this, me and my wife and 5 kids are stuck in a hotel. Our dryer caught on fire, and did a lot of damage but not to the structure I guess. We have insurance but will they cover our rental house cause we can’t stay here. This is so miserable

I'm so overwhelmed with compiling the personal property list after my shed burned down. I requested to join the Facebook group! I made the mistake of saying most of the shed contents were designated for starting an eBay business. They limited my coverage to $1,000 dollars and will only pay on personal. It's still overwhelming separating it all!

I recently took inventory of my items using QR codes and an app called “quick peek” and it’s heaven sent. If you’ve ever forgot where you placed something n had to open 8 boxes until you found it this is for you! You place sticker on outside of box with code then with your phone scan it with you camera, then in the app you take pictures of everything in the box and label what it is and where in your house it’s located. So later when you say where my holiday decorations or whatever you labeled it as, type it in the app and it tells you what #box and what room it’s in along with everything else the box contains! It’s a little bit of work but you only need to do it once and last forever

The whole process of dealing with insurance and the cleaning/restoration companies is a total nightmare. Lies, manipulation, inflation of costs...and no one looks out for the person who's lost their home. Sadly, it is possible to be all alone in this.

Going through this now.

I am just starting the process of rebuilding and have no knowledge. I don't want to get railroaded just because I am timid in nature and rarely stand up for myself.

When stores say rebate I think of a check they send you that you can deposit in your bank! Menards sends you a rebate check that you can only use at their store so your not really saving no money. Bcus they are getting that money back and not you!!!!!

I had a fire in my sons bedroom and a smoke went through my bedroom and my other son’s bedroom and down the hallway into the bottom half of the first floor cause I could smell it, so I asked for a cash advance because I am displaced right now and someone said I should have a public adjuster but I’m regretting it now because he hasn’t really done much for me and it’s almost going to my third week and I asked for a cash emergency advance because I couldn’t keep paying for meals and assess it is in clothes and things that we needed. Also, I have my dog with me and we’re in a hotel and it keeps saying as a check for me but it hasn’t happened. what should I do?

Another plus to hanging clothes outside is how smells can be naturally removed - even musty smells- that may be very challenging otherwise :-)

Thank you! I just came home from work today to a fire that happened. The smoke damage was the worst part. It was a blessing my dogs survived. I pray that State Farm will take care of me here in Texas. My home did not burn all the way down. It was the smoke that destroyed nearly everything. With that said, how and what do I let go of? Meaning, what do I save and trash?

Clothes dried outside are intoxicating. They smell ssooooo good. Many things will not even need ironing, if you add just a little fabric softener to your rinse cycle and fold in a good way. I love laundry dried outside. Especially sheets, towels and blankets. Home linens. Saves money, also and gets you out doors. So fresh.

Loved your video, a couple of tips I have noticed that during the extended Rebate programs Menards will tag a item with a red sale price tag. I always check the tag in the back to see if it actually ON SALE. Today I checked a 30 Ft Dog Tie Out on sale 9.99 the white tag in the back 9.99. I found that will Menard's will mark a item up for the published ad then offer 11%. Know what you are buying

Thank you so much for making this video, We had a house fire a week ago and are now trying to navigate all of this. We are dealing with a fire disaster company who seems to have a person for every part of this journey from cataloging our belongs inside the house to rebuilding it. Now that the dust is settling (pardon the pun) and we have signed some contracts with them we are a little nervous as to weather we had made the right decision. They are now wanting us to sign a contract for them to be the contractor. I have hesitations and want to slow it down a little so we can think before we dive into their full services. Any advise? I saw in a comment above that you have a facebook group, what is this name of it, I would like to join.

I just went through a 5,000 item content list with a fine tooth comb. I found over 5k of mainly small items. Do your diligence, it pays off. Also pay for the RCV Endorsement on your policy then you will get the FULL cost of your stuff. It's worth it.
