Nu Metal was all about gathering together and just have loads of fun, other than getting out all the negative energy you had inside. Heck, even the Bizkit, even though they were never my super favorite band, as Korn or the Deftones are, they always kicked ass live.
They did one in El Paso too. But unfortunately it was terrible. It was during the time when head and David were gone and sucked. The openers were soo much better.
Korn is one of the most original bands that ever existed. No heavy band sounded like that when they hit. The detuned 7 string guitars, the loose clangy bass, the tight snare, the insane vocals, the creepy dissonance and the experimental sounds. Korn is forever awesome🤘
So true. The energy of that band helped me overcome my fathers passing in 2006. It felt like it was unleashing what I felt inside of my mind. Still got those albums on me now.
KOЯN is my all time favorite. When i first heard them in 97 i was taken in with Jonathan's voice and lyrics and music play was no words i can describe. They brought us the greatest genre and paved way for SLIPKNOT and MUDVAYNE. My top 3, all the other bands tied at 4. So glad i was a teen at that point in time of life on earth
Back in 1999 I spent $30.99 of my hard earned money as an 11 year old but it was one of the best purchases I ever made. It would probably have been July so either just before or during their iconic Woodstock 99 set. They were big right around the time I was coming into my own as a music lover and not being influenced by anyone else. I still bump ST and Follow The Leader to this day as a nearly 36 year old.
There is a reason they are still rocking the fuck out 25+ years after the release of their first record. They are something special! One of the greatest of all time!!

Nu-Metal maybe. The entire genre? Nah. I’m a big Korn fan. In fact they were my first gig back in ‘97. I even like Path of Totality. Korn influenced the Nu-Metal scene. They were a big deal, but certainly not one of the greatest of time. You could say they’re in YOUR personal top 5. I’d give you a 👍 for that.

I had the pleasure of seeing Korn a couple times in the 90's and they were definitely a ground breaking band. I saw them in Detroit and Grand Rapids Michigan and they were insane and the mosh pits were just as crazy! Thanks for giving them their props Corey
I feel the same. Although their first album, when it came out, it was completely "out of this world", at the time, much like Manson's Antichrist Superstar was. No one was expecting a heavy record like that, and I had been a huge Metallica fan, back then, before discovering Korn and Manson. I was just so stoked when their first album came out. They should have a producer remaster their first 4 records in Dolby Atmos, definitely. I would love to hear all the details, layers, instruments and Jonathan's voice and echo effects in great detail. That would definitely kick ass, more than the Pop crap they put out on Apple Music, these days.

There are not many bands that could perform their own music live as good as Korn and the energy between them on stage and us in the crowd is something I can’t explain but will never forget. People don't understand how much KORN changed what we think of as Metal. They literally paved the way for not everything sounding like Metalica and those 80s/90s bands with a new sound that didn't sound like anything before them. I remember in 94 hearing the debut album in a circuit city and instantly falling in love.
In 2014, I got a ticket to see Slipknot Korn and King 810. I really thought I went there for Slipknot but left thinking Korn was the greatest band I've ever seen in my life.
I've been there since the beginning. I used their album as my inspiration to send my track team to the Oregon state championship. Every since, it's the same vibe. Epic. Jon is a genius.
I remember seeing them at Donnington around 1995/1996. I think it was there first UK performance and it was insane! The bagpipes at the starts of shoots and ladders was so great!

FACTS I'm 40 and been with Korn the entire journey. I got a guitar World magazine with an Ibanez add from them in like 98. I still play 5 and 7 strings. My second oldest is 17 and still plays 5 and 7. Korn has been a powerhouse for years but massively influential. The genre would not have blossomed to what it is today without those dudes.
As a kid I got a lots of beatings at home. One day I was playing in my room and there was this rock song on tv…as I looked up it was KoRn -falling away from me…the kids stood up for her in the videoclip…I felt it inside me…I was instantly hooked. 30 years later and their last 2 albums have been front to back fire still. I fell off somewhere there in the middle of their career but I’m one of the day ones that are back like Corey is referencing.
