Gil Younger, the founder of Transgo Transmissions helped our group immensely in the late 60s-early 70s with some of our stock and superstock valve bodies for our C4s, C6s and FMX-Borg Warners. In 1971 I was a mere eighteen years old. I sent Gil an FMX valve body out of my 351 Mach 1 and he reworked it. The car was a multi-time L/SA class winner back then. Fifty-three years later I still have that car and the tranny continues to work great! Thank you, Gil! R.I.P.
PERFECT discussion of how you can spend time or you can spend money, but if you don't have time you'll need to have the other. Dad once came home from work after dark on Friday, figured out or already knew what was wrong, got the parts, pulled his C4 transmission, changed out the diaphragm spring, and had it back in the car in time to go to work on Monday morning. I was impressed.
The guts of that C-4 are a-maze-ing. Watching Cam operate makes you wonder if he has a scalpel somewhere; I'll write in to say that he'd do a better job than me.
Transmissions…. Not for me. I took my aod apart to see if I could find a shift problem. Back together and all neutrals. I luckily found one at the scrapper that had 50k on it. I’m not a transmission whisperer. I’ll let the pros handle it. I’m surprised at the paper towels and no coffee filters lining the table.
Im just restoring a 76 F150 and it idles high right now. SHOULD a 3 spd auto from 76 clunk into gear? is it just because of high idle? it shows positive engagement doesnt it, definitely better than slushing into gear over ten second period, correct?
Video is perfect as I'm installing the same kit today! Interesting question on if it's worth it. I'm rebuilding my whole c4 and don't have $400 into it and that's including DVDs to cover the rebuild. I guess what I'm trying to say is $400 goes pretty far but everyone's budget vs time is different
@joseespinoza93 jury is still out because I haven't run the transmission yet. I've still got a fair bit of work to be road worthy. I will say everything passed the air checks but we will see sometime hopefully next year!

This is wild! I've always thought transmissions run on voodoo magic... and here you are free hand drilling gaskets! Very cool!

I used to omit the 'hockey puck' in the VB. That would give a hard 2nd gear shift.
That was interesting. Thanks for the video.

Thank you Cam!
The question was is it worth it?
So you did change the shift modulator?

If you hear music there is no talking. A lot of times Cam and I will explain it before we do it

How did it go? The kit nice?

Was spring just extra part from Ford? @11:00?
Where is your magnet or just tap on the table a little
No A /C?
My C-4 has always shifted like it has a shift-kit even though it doesn't. Chirps the tires from First to Second.
I've never had a reason to modify it.
@20:15. True, but less satisfying
This is too painfull to watch!!!😢😢😢 throw that sht in the trash. New vb it is!!
Well if you're in paying go see a doc.
@@AutoRestoMod Cam, my comment was not to afend you. Just stating how it was to see this done. I run a c4 before. But never rebuilt one. Goodjob.
