I’m curious to know how many times Joe messed up on his first transmission he ever built. I personally built a th350 4 times before I got it perfect. He obviously has tons of experience and is amazing to watch.
I can appreciate watching a guy with expertise tear into anything mechanical. Engines, transmissions, etc. Joe makes it look easy, you can tell he's been doing it for a long time and knows what he's doing. Thanks Joe!
This is one thing UA-cam does so well. Everyone who watched just got to spend an hour watching over the shoulder of a master. That isn't something they used to just give away for free.

Watching Joe reminds me of a mentor I had when I started working on cars. Even tempered, can explain everything in simple terms, has a deep understanding of the components and how they work. Man, oh man. It's like being back in Hoss' shop getting a PHD in mechanic repair.
This dude is so knowledgeable. You can tell by the way he's explaining everything as he pulls the transmission apart that he's had a few years of experience rebuilding these C4's. I wish he'd do a video on the FMX as I would like to rebuild the transmission in my 1970 Mercury Cougar. My favorite part is when he says "so we'll have a peak-see what this friction looks like".

I retired after 35 yrs rebuilding Cat transmissions at thee Cat dealer in Miami. I knew a lot of the seal and ring part #’s by heart also. I noticed that before you put in a lip seal, you put some grease in it to hold the garter spring in, also what I did. The C4 looks pretty easy. I’ve always wanted to do an automatic- maybe some day. Love the videos, Joe.

I’m gonna be dead honest, this video just saved my build. I’ve had a C5 (basically a C4 with a different torque converter) sitting around for a while and I finally decided to rebuild it as of recent. How many quarts of ATF d'ya think Joes smoked in his career?
