If you enjoy these longer videos, hit the Like button and let us know! The more feedback we get from you guys, the more UA-cam promotes our videos and ultimately that’s how we decide what to do more of on the channel.

I retired after 35 yrs rebuilding Cat transmissions at thee Cat dealer in Miami. I knew a lot of the seal and ring part #’s by heart also. I noticed that before you put in a lip seal, you put some grease in it to hold the garter spring in, also what I did. The C4 looks pretty easy. I’ve always wanted to do an automatic- maybe some day. Love the videos, Joe.

I like the casual attitude. I used to build Allison 545. The last transmission I did was a GM TH475. I am retired. I can smell the ATF. I always thought ATF had a pepper small.

Joe is awesome . I appreciate all you guys showing some of the voodoo that goes on in them slush boxes .
I doubt I'll ever try to build one , but as a consumer , all the insight is helpful .
    lol , he said ," I do this for a living , that's how I know that " 😂

Joe is a master at his trade. I know a couple down my way one is about 60 the other one is in his mid 60s the wealth of knowledge these men have is amazing. One just went into business with his Son. The other one is going until his younger brother turns 62 he will be 67 then unfortunately is going to close down. No younger people interested in keeping the garage going.

You don't need to worry about those bushings🤣
Separating the gaps on the rings is also priceless when it spins.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great video, used it to build my c4 during the great shutdown. Put back in last few days ,works great. Tip on turning tail shaft to make sure everything turns saved me from telling the wife I screwed something up. Also very entertaining

Nothing takes the place of experience. Smokin' Joe is the Yoda of transmissions.

This is an awesome video! It is wonderful to listen to these mechanics tell you about their trade, with all the tricks. These master craftsmen are going away quickly, hopefully these videos can preserve some of their knowledge.

Wow... ordinary gearboxes scare me. Automatic transmissions take the scariness to a new level. Joe's certainly the right guy for the job. His level of knowledge and expertise is limitless. Great vid. I like the longer ones.
