Thanks to the perspectives from you guys and what I call the Trifecta (Stephanie Perry, Rashida Dowe, and Adalia) I moved from New York to Queretaro in November2023. I’m on a SS income and I live here comfortably barring no emergencies. But I agree that the cost of living in Mexico is rising. I spent all day today watching Thailand videos and I’m obsessed. The temp residency in Mexico is steep in price, I’m going to try and get my residency this year, but I’m already feeling the itch to travel somewhere else. Southeast Asia is looking good right now. ❤
As Always, Great Video and content. You guys are so on point with your travel experiences. I currently live in Mexico and I am definitely feeling the rise in the cost of living. Mexico’s economy is getting stronger and stronger every month which in turn is causing a financial increase in all qualifying categories for Residency which is not as affordable for those, like myself, that are on a fixed retirement income. Mexico is a vibrant, beautiful and overall safe country with very friendly people, great culture and great food. Mexico is still a great destination, however, it may not be affordable for those receiving low or moderate retirement income.
Yes, I feel like fixed income has it the hardest but it seems like MX still has some "affordable" beautiful choices. Thanks for supporting us w/ your views!
I am Mexican i am pretty open minded about migration and tourism, you guys are very welcome here. And though we are pretty weñcome to foreigners, some things you Should know: Yo mentioned the most common reason US people moves to México is due to low cost-high life Quality… well most people in Mexico have a high cost - low quality of life because business and rent and other things will follow trends.. here the average income per person is from $8000-$12000 pesos a MONTH (around $500 US dollars) and the average rent for a small apartment in CDMX is about $6000-$8500 a MONTH So if someone is OK by paying $500 + rent monthly , and also happens to invite and promote this, guess what will happen.. rent in that sector is going to increase disregarding the people that already live there who barely manages to live a modest-non luxury life , so they well now have to move or get a second job (most already do). So areas and things that originally were popular amongst the native population are now really expensive and/or exclusive.

It's happened in Canada, esp Toronto. We allowed 1.5 million in 2022 without proper planning wrt housing. We have a cost of living crisis and highest inflation in 30 yrs, and shortage of affordable housing. Unis and our gvmt allowed 800k foreign students....duing a housing crisis. Great video. But like you said, everyone needs their own experience in living wherever they choose. I believe Mexico is still a winner, because of its close proximity to the U.S. and healthcare is still cheap there. Also, there are still areas in Mexico that are cheap to rent. Cartess, another UA-camr, just posted a two-bedroom for US$320 a month. With regards to racism, that's everywhere even amongst black people (I'm black). But I'm sure it's nothing like in the U.S., where you could be walking down the road and someone kills you because you are black! The U.S. has taken racism to another level that is so evil!

Spot on. Not related to your video but Housing prices and rentals in Ajijic and some surrounding towns have been going up, up & up. Cost of living is high. Many Expats will need to find alternative lifestyles and towns to live in And there are some towns. But if they don’t want to experience the culture and learn Spanish they’ll be stay stuck There are other climates similar in Mexico also. Ajijic is no longer affordable or as affordable as it once was. The days of wine and roses are over for many , however there are other places here. Love your videos. I hope to meet you when someday. Your videos are pure , informative and fun. The best. Thanks
No, I mean not sincerely "us" saw two families spoke to them...In their face and they did not reply. I don't understand it...but we found a Wakanda restaurant in Gramado and saw workers there who were cool. Didn't have time to speak w/ the owner (we were getting to our bus)....were infiltrating for sure. It was mostly working class white (German and Italian) ppl that went out of their way to receive us well. Brazil is seriously segregated like that Black ppl stay North and white folks stay South....it's serious there. Which is why we went South too.
Love you guys for giving your real opinions! I spent a lot of time in Mexico and loved it but I agree that it is difficult to find home. Maybe that is a side effect of being the descendant of people who were removed from their original culture, land etc... I don't know. Many of us seem to be searching for a place where we can fit in and belong. FYI, I do not think those folks in the news clip came over for medical tourism. That story is fishy. They may have been looking for drugs. They have a history and women going across the border for a BBL go alone or with a girlfriend, not three dudes.
Yes, lots of us are searching. Regarding the ppl. IDK. The cartel said they were sorry. Handed over the ppl who messed up and said they thought that the ppl were Haitian drug runners....so there's that 5o consider.
Mexico is the largest trading partner with the US this year. So far there has been over $260 billion in trading between the US and Mexico. After the pandemic Mexico passed China. Now people are going to Mexico.
April, your grey hair roots look absolutely beautiful🤩. The silver and mingled grey locks or braids look amazing with your roots. Nowadays, grey is the new blonde. So glad you mentioned the African continent. Johannesburg has the majority of what you're looking for. When I visit in January, I definitely want to look at some properties. It does get cold there so that may be a deterrent.
I was recently denied temporary residency - because I couldn't prove where my income was coming from - and it must be $3300/per mo - and I was just shy of the $55000.00 in my savings account. I was taken aback by all of this. Mexico is my retirement dream. Next year the income requirements will be even higher. Not sure what my plan is now.
What a lot of ppl do is go to different consulates...some of the.....easiest to work with: Las Vegas, McAllen, TX, Pheonix, Az, Philly, Raleigh, NC & Houston.
Temporary Residency financial over here in Boston and New York are $45,000 dollars in an account for 6 months, if you have $55,000, you are more than qualified based on income, don't know what consular office you went to, but here in the Northeast, is $45,000 in savings for 6 months, for the Temporary Residency!!
Beautiful and interesting descriptions of “home” for you. Funny how that changes. I used to know what home is, but my perspective has radically changed. You two really surprised me with Thailand - wow! Looks amazing. I noticed you didn’t mention Ecuador but I remember you liked it. I really appreciate you being honest about race issues and I’m sorry for your troubles. As foreign travelers, we expect to stand out some, but it’s scary & sad to be targeted. A topic that needs some discussion is the "law" and litigation in Mexico ie. If you step into a deep hole on the sidewalk and break your leg or potentially injured for life, you are Not going to be able to sue that city govt or homeowner and get any money, etc & I remember someone had a car accident & went to jail before there was even a determination of right/wrong , if it is of interest to you to research,,,because Mexico is not a "Litigation Culture" like the US, snd people should know. There are other examples ie dog attacks on other dogs etc.

Reason US will be completely destroyed to nothing before 2025 and they need maximum people to suffer through it. So they don't want you to leave the country and spreading lies about Mexico.
Maybe but multiple need agencies in the states and Mexico posting the same story along with the Gulf Cartel taking credit for mistaking them for Haitian drug runners. They also handed the people who made the mistake.

Costa Rica is not a relatively inexpensive place to live anymore, if that's what you're looking for. It's also really hot by the coast. In most inland areas of Mexico you can be outside all day and your electric bill is low because you don't have to run your a/c at all hours of the day.

I've been to Thailand before COVID, It was AWESOME the cafe, ithe restaurants the rents it's cheaper love it I was there for two weeks my boo and I we had such great time love the people too, but good choice guys Thailand is the place. Good video tho guys Thank you and stay safe.
Hey #1 Thailand is so peaceful and fun...to become citizens we have to go through more than we are willing to do now but serious place for our retirement.
I enjoyed this and your candor very much 😊 We all have to keep an open mind when in new countries and amongst different cultures. That's what I respect about you guys! Would like to see you visit Senegal 🇸🇳 it's been on my list for years. Rwanda 🇷🇼 has also piqued my interest because of how they turned around their country, themselves. Safe travels guys!
Thank you!!!
thanks for the video!
Thanks for running in!
I went to Barcelona for the first time last week and I want to live there : ) Not sure if yall been there yet but it's so worth the visit!!!
Yes, we've been that and it is nice!
We fled Peru back in 1978. Been living in California since and fixing to retire in Jalisco Mexico in about 7 years. But I have a spot in my heart for my homeland. I agree 💯 with the food tho.
I understand! I know those were some hard times as well. We love Jalisco over here, FYI😁
Keep doing your thang
The best. Thanks
So informative!!
Thanks!
Great UA-cam channel. Great Videos. 😊 thanks just subscribed
Thank you!!! Hope you enjoy our flow!
I love your videos! You're awesome.
Love your support!
This was very informative, as always. Question: Did you see any us's in Canela?
Interesting... So many parts to that story.
@@TheYarbros LOL. The cartels apologized:) That's crazy. They must be very nice people deep inside:) FBI never apologize and I think they are worse:)
I recently returned from Kampala and it has a great energy but it may not be busy enough for y’all to live but visit… absolutely.
Thanks again!
Mexico is the largest trading partner with the US this year. So far there has been over $260 billion in trading between the US and Mexico. After the pandemic Mexico passed China. Now people are going to Mexico.
Ok
Great video, we’re heading to Thailand in Jan 2024🙌🏾👍🏾👌🏾💯
Ohh, wow! We're excited for you guys! Enjoy!
April, your grey hair roots look absolutely beautiful🤩. The silver and mingled grey locks or braids look amazing with your roots. Nowadays, grey is the new blonde. And it’s the latest fashion trend, for women AND men. From the oldest to the youngest. But I suspect that this bold and beautiful look will be here to stay. Fifty shades of grey!😉
Lol, thank you!
So glad you mentioned the African continent. Johannesburg has the majority of what you're looking for. When I visit in January, I definitely want to look at some properties. It does get cold there so that may be a deterrent.
Yes, Joberg & Botswana have our deepest attention right now.
@@TheYarbros Thank you!
Choose the phoenix consulate, their requirement is like $2600 still and you dont have to live around there in order to apply there
@@kevinwilliams8033 Thank you!
I love Peru too! Lima and Cuzco...
As a solo female, blending is my goal, but not always possible. In my “old age,” I’m looking a lot like Gandalf. 😒 I loved going with you through the Afro-Brazilian areas, and in the Afro-Ecuadorian part of Guayaquil - so special. Kenya is my dream since I was a little girl. And, Rwanda is gorgeous, and me being Catholic, the site of a very important holy shrine in Kibeho. I follow a few sweet Kenyans on UA-cam. Would love to see you go there, and maybe… Armenia? Anyway, I can’t wait to travel…someday… until then, there’s the Yarbros brightening my days. ❤
We appreciate you so much! Looking fwd to going deeper into the world w/ you! Wisdom has a cost lol. That's what I tell my kids about my grey.
I also love Peru. I felt so at home there.
Thumbs Up to you once again Yarbros !
Thanks again!
I love y’all I swear I do!!!
We can feel it! Thank you!
Love the assessment on possible places to live. I will go visit Thailand in November. 👏🏾👏🏾 living in Mazatlán now!!
Culiacán
Thinking about heading that way...
@@TheYarbros Actually I already have the planned trip with my youngest sister’s family. She is celebrating her 60th birthday there. I just heard there are many blacks living there👏🏾👏🏾
Lima looks best to me. I heard it has the number one restaurant in the world. Lima airport is very good, too.
Lima was awesome!
Thailand........fruits and veggies are fresh but pesticide laden. Be sure you wash and disinfect with a vinegar solution. No one talks about the pesticides. Not sure why.
Wow!
I loved the sponsor commercial
We had fun shooting it! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I’m going to get me and my boo them headphones
Ayeee, hope you enjoy them.
Glad you liked MY country - BRASIL
Been here since 2002 off and on since, from Florida
Brasil is very Americanized, they grew with all the same movies, tv, music and culture
Live in the north island of Florianopolis, great place to live
Have travelled from the south - Canela to Fortaleza, lived in Joao Pessoa, Recife and B Camboriu too
Neven been to Mexico but would like to visit. The food looks horrible, don't want to live on tacos !
Trying to track down the FACTS of a RETIREMENT VISA for people on SS or a pension and over 65 years old- with NO financial requirements. Ever heard of it ?
I like the Yucatan and gulf coast the most
Ok their retirement visa has financial requirements but I don't know what they are.
Amazing love it no one does it better than you two! We are looking at a visit to the Continent in Februrary love you fam😍
Love y'all right back! Thanks for turning in!
Favorite COOL WEATHER cities ???
Thx
Quito & Lima in the winter & winter in Southern Brazil....
@@TheYarbros
Did y’all happen to get to Arequipa you, Peru ?
We hear great things….
What about romania, vietnam, maylasia, or turkey?
Love Maylasia but they are asking way too much for their residency. Vietnam is cool but it didn't speak to my spirit (Rondel) We will be circling back around to give it another chance. We will also tour Romania and Turkey next year so stay tuned.
@@TheYarbros yeah!
I've been looking at Panama for over a year I'm surprised that wasn't on the list. Why?
Come to Nairobi Kenya you caan even get a $500 apartment monthly although there's inflation but its not too much expensive
My wife and I were looking at Mexico, but it seems more and more like Mexico doesn't want US immigrants. I don't blame them, but it's hard for those of us who had this destination in mind.
I feel like Mexico is sending some very mixed signals. They are in the middle of becoming something bigger than what they are now but I don't think they...the administrative bodies have a clear vision of its future. #myipinion. For what it's worth I feel like you and your family could find a beautiful place here and flourish there. It's just becoming more of a job to find "that" place here in Mexico.
I complied much info on the Continent with reference to your colleagues with Boots on Ground it got flagged while I edited a bride emoji to indicate married couples. I hope you can access the info.🤷🏽♀️

Thank you fam!
Out of all of the places you traveled to, which place had the best Wi-Fi and tech integration in daily life?
I hear Rwanda is AMAZING
Yes, that's what we hear as well!
Yes. Family...Babylon is unbelievable for sure!
Unbelievable and yet real. Crazy out here
What about Mexico City, Mexico?
I was thinking about Belize. Have yal been?
Yes, we enjoyed touring Belize but we didn't try living there yet.
Definitely visiting Thailand, Peru, Brazil and of course the Mother Land some day! Great Video Family!!!!
Muchas gracias! Looking fwd to seeing the world through y'alls eyes!
Namibia, botswana are among the best countries in africa.
For botswana, no power outages, free healthcare, safe and well educated people and high gdp per capita, higher that all latin America
3rd time hearing about Botswana! Thank you we're diving into the research now.
@@TheYarbros You are welcome. Those two countries are among the top 3 we are thinking of moving there permanently because north america is not made for us (nor europe and I grew up in europe)
😊Cuajinicuilapa Guerrero have you gone to this city a lot of black Mexicans. A really great story please travel there
Yes, heading there in the morning.
I can't wait to see your video!! I am Mexican American and I love my black people living in Mexico and I love your videos!!!

Great video Yarbros, keep up the good work. I am considering Panama as a relocation retirement option.
Thank you and happy hunting!
Great Video! I’ve been doing a good bit of exploring but from my short list I’m thinking Nairobi BUT the residency issue isn’t easy. But i do think you all will have a great time there.
Looking forward to looking into it!
😍
😊
Fun video. Surprised Cartagena didn't make the cut. I also like DR and Panama. Been seriously thinking Lima for my next home address. Greetings from sunny Cancun! 😎
Cartagena freaking melted me 😂 and for Colombia it was on the expensive side. There are a small city in Colombia though...that is on our short list.
Yep. I remember Early morning tennis trying to avoid the heat. 😊
So you like Oaxaca better than Guadalajara?:) Did I miss some videos?
I feel they're just posting this stuff because they do not want us to leave for some odd reason. Of course that is just my opinion. People get kidnapped in the US all the time. Everyone would be shocked if they saw the statistics compared to Mexico btw I live in the US.
Thank you for the work y'all do! Iam learning a lot
@@TheYarbros okay... thank you for that information! Also, you guys have great editing and acting skills! You two are definitely my favorite UA-camrs for traveling info 🤩
@@TheYarbroswell theres many hispanics and blacks getting killed by police in the usa on walmarts and schools all the time and you suprice about 2 or 3 people that got kill in mexico🤔?

Alright cool thank you.
The Dominican Republic is on 🔥. I spent 5 weeks their Summer 2023. It was amazing. Food, culture, & low cost of living.
My life partner & I return this November. 2025, we semi retire there.
You both are our inspiration to living life to the fullest.
Thank you and thanks for sharing!
Thailand is definitely on my bucket list Bangkok is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. I like how rooftops and balconies have plants and nature mixed in.
My only complaints about Thailand is their residency process....Love that place!
What's up fam?!!! Long time since I have dropped a line. Great vid because I have been heavily considering moving to MX. I have been saying Gringo's and other foreigners moving there will 10:23 10:23 a major price rise in the cost of living there soon 10:23
Whats going on fam! Still an awesome country but the inflation is real.
Besides so many of the places you mentioned, there are so many places in Europe that are affordable but I noticed you haven't done any videos yet on places in Europe. Are you considering it?
Yes, especially 8n that Blacksea area. In this video we only wanted to speak on where we'd been. Every place we've been in Europe (so far) has been expensive. We'll be there next year God willing.
Always appreciate your vids. Have you had any issues with "water shortages" that have been reported lately?
No, none so far.
Now I am craving Thai food (luckily I have a container of red curry paste on hand❤Need to visit Thailand someday! P.S. there is a very nice & nicely located small 1bed apt listed on craigslist for 10,500/mo...
Whenever I go back to the San Fernando Valley in NW LA County, CA to visit friends, I always go by the Hoa Viet Market in Canoga Park and pick up a variety of Mae Ploy curry paste along with glass noodles and other Thai favorites to bring back. One of my best friends married a Thai woman who is an incredible chef, she taught me a few recipes for food that I can't get down in Ensenada.😎
After combing through our footage we are craving it too. Thanks for the plug, but we'll be headed to our next destination soon.
I've been following you for awhile now. I had thought that you were going to mention Costa Rica as a place to consider checking out then I remembered that I have not seen you make a video about Costa Rica unless I missed it. By the way, go visit Taxco which is a Magical Town 3 hours from CDMX. Good luck on all your travels. God bless. A Mexican living in Chicago.
Costa Rica is not a relatively inexpensive place to live anymore, if that's what you're looking for. It's also really hot by the coast. In most inland areas of Mexico you can be outside all day and your electric bill is low because you don't have to run your a/c at all hours of the day.
Yes, Costa Rica was expensive to us all around except for the Caribbean Coast.
Mexico is better.
Dont leave.
Come visit me. I show you why.
