Delivering enterprise performance at SMB prices, the TS-h886 features an Intel® Xeon® D processor and DDR4 ECC (Error Correcting Code) memory (expandable to 128 GB) with dependable reliability. With the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system, the TS-h886 ensures data integrity and supports block-level inline data deduplication and compression, near-limitless snapshots, and real-time SnapSync. The TS-h886 helps your business achieve reliable service-level agreement performance in various use cases, including mission-critical file servers, virtualization servers, collaborative video editing, or efficient data backup and recovery applications.
Four 2.5GbE ports accelerate file sharing across teams and devices, virtual machine applications, or multimedia transmission.
Two PCIe slots allow for 5GbE/10GbE/25GbE/40GbE adapters, QM2 cards, or entry-level graphics cards to increase application performance.
Scalable storage supporting virtual machines, containerized apps, centralized storage, backup, sharing, and disaster recovery.
QuTS hero combines ZFS advantages with the QTS App Center ecosystem to empower your business.
Two M.2 NVMe Gen 3 x4 SSD slots (each slot providing up to 3.2 GB/s bandwidth) enable SSD caching to boost random read/write performance.
The TS-h886 uses an Intel® Xeon® D-1600 series processor and DDR4 ECC memory that can detect and correct single-bit memory errors as they occur to prevent downtime and data loss. Supporting up to 128 GB RAM to cope with higher workloads, the TS-h886 provides a high-performance and reliable NAS solution for demanding business IT environments.
While SSD prices continue to fall, and SSD capacity and performance continue to increase, organizations can easily take advantage of SSD strengths. The TS-h886 comes with two 2.5-inch SSD drive bays and two M.2 NVMe Gen3 x4 SSD slots that allow you to flexibly configure SSD caching to increase IOPS performance and reduce storage volume latency. This is especially perfect for databases and virtual machine applications. Without occupying any 3.5-inch drive bays, the TS-h886 allows you to maximize both your storage capacity and performance.
Featuring four native 2.5GbE RJ45 LAN ports (backward compatible with 1G/100M), the TS-h886 allows you to use existing CAT5e cables to upgrade network speeds from 1 Gigabit to 2.5 Gigabit. The support of Port Trunking and failover further satisfy bandwidth and reliability demanding applications including virtualization, large file transfers, high-speed backup/restoration, and any real-time application. QNAP also offers numerous options of managed and unmanaged 10GbE/2.5GbE switches, assisting organizations in implementing high-speed, secure, and scalable network environments without going over budget.
QuTS hero combines the app-based QTS with the 128-bit ZFS file system to provide flexible storage management, comprehensive data protection, and optimized performance to tackle the complexity and performance demands of modern IT. From storage management, virtualization, to collaborative media workflows, QuTS hero streamlines your business-critical tasks.
QuTS hero supports advanced block-based data reduction technologies (including inline data deduplication, compression, and compaction) to reduce file sizes, conserve storage capacity, and optimize performance. For example, if 20 virtual machines on a NAS are replicated using the same template, then storage space requirements for all 20 virtual machines can be reduced by up to 95%. Whether acting as primary or backup storage, the TS-h886 optimizes storage utilization to provide a reliable storage cornerstone in the Big Data era.
Real-time SnapSync ensures that both the primary and secondary NAS maintain identical data. When data is written to the source, it is immediately written to the destination. If the primary NAS goes offline, IT staff can simply adjust the privilege settings of the secondary NAS to ensure continuous operations. SnapSync provides the strongest support for nonstop business operations and helps users to reduce the risk of data loss.
The TS-h886 features two PCIe Gen 3 x8 slots (each slot provides up to 64 Gb/s bandwidth) and supports installing expansion cards to enable additional functions and greater application potential.

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate Qnaps UK putting these sorts of videos out to help educate potential customers like myself. Good job, well done, & keep it up!

Would be great to see an 8 or even better 12 bay version of this. An update to the TS-1685 with native 10Gb and NVMe replacing all the SATA M.2 expansion would be great. The TS-h886 is great but a 12 bay would be awesome

@@QNAPUK That's fantastic, I'm going to check both of those out - thank you for the reply. I've been visiting the QNAP page every other day or so in the hope of seeing new releases like this :D

Thanks for the presentation. In the slides (6.26) you show a double width graphics card. Is that something that can be installed in these NAS?
Also, any plans on a compact desktop NAS with USB4 and a modern, low power 8 core CPU?

@@QNAPUK Thanks, I meant specifically the double slot width card shown in the slides.. Understand you can't give details on future products. Would be amazing to get something like an Intel NUC with Tigerlake and bit of extra case space for 2-4 drives, running QuTS Hero :)

Hi. I want to transition from my 3 synology NAS to QNAP. I need to know the best Plex NAS that QNAP has. I will want at least a 6 bay but really want a minimum of 8 or higher. I also want to be able to add a GPU with the best processor possible (within reason). I would like it to be able to handle a minimum of 4 of the 4K streams. Oh and I don’t want or need thunderbolt. Anyone have any ideas. I was looking at the 886 but would like an 8 at least. But a 6 bay I could make it work. Looking to purchase 2 systems. One active and the other is an off site.
