      Is there anything else I should know? I bought it with 3 12TB iron wolf pro drives to get me started and a 6ft TB3 cable. Hoping to be able to edit 4k DCI footage both here in my office and work with another editor on the same project who lives about 200 miles away here in the U.S in the state of Minnesota.

    Hello I have a tvs 672xt with I3 8th generation 8100t with socket lga 1151. My question is what is the best processor with high ghz and what you would recommend. I was looking at The I9 proccesor. Is it better to get a xeon or what. Please respond I want to upgrade the cpu before updating the OS. I have 64 gb of ram, M.2 for os and cache and 4 6TB sata hard drives. Thank you Kurtis. Also should I update to the hero operating system.

    I just wish I could get a reliable TB3 connection from my 872XT to my Mac ! TB3 NAS feels like a waste of my money. Total pain. Drops out constantly and reconnection is a nightmare.

    Great info. I just bought a TVS-672XT and I’m wondering about the max dual nvme transfer rates in a cache configuration. You had 3gb/s cards but the website states a 2gb/s max throughput. Does that mean that anything over a 2gb/s nvme like a WD blue m.2 would be overkill?

    • @outlawedmotors
      @outlawedmotors 3 роки тому

      @@QNAPUK Thanks for the info! So two follow ups:
      Can the NVMe slots handle a max throughput of 2gbps?
      And I take it then my 1tb WD blue NVMe's that read at 2400MB/s and write at 1950MB/s be more than sufficient for cache then?
      I'll be editing 4-8K RED, Canon, Arri footage via Thunderbolt 3 as well as have a 10 gig connection via the Qhora

    Why is the NVME array not working at full TB3 speeds? Is it because you plugged a TB2 device in? Or because the card that holds the drives is only in a 4 lane slot? MaxTech has a video with the NVMe drives on the motherboard operating at twice the speed of your setup.

    I am going nuts, i have been connecting Macbook pro (M1 and Intel) and none of them is connecting through Thunderbolt. My QNAP is the TVS-872XT, I really don't know how to get this done, please do you have any tutorial to explain that part?

    • @QNAPUK
      @QNAPUK  Рік тому

      The best way is to connect everything up with Thunderbolt, open up QFinder Pro (free software), and it will detect you have a Thunderbolt connection and it will ask if you want it to setup your connection, it will do everything automatically for you. Please note though, due to driver version differences on MacOS between their Intel and M1 versions of MacOS, one may work better than the other as the QNAP NAS can obviously only have 1 driver version running. Usually anything QTS 4.x works better with Intel-based Mac's and anything QTS 5.x works better with Apple Silicon.

    Super helpful! I love the 672XT I have. Have my Win 10 PC connected via 10Gbe with no issues (but I could never get the TB3 to work here - my PC would recognize the connection but would not be able to transfer any data). My MacBook Pro connects via TB3 when I boot up the NAS, but if there is an interruption in the connection (if my MacBook goes to sleep or if I also remove the TB3 cable) and then re-establish the connection, the QNAP recognizes the connection, but my MacBook Pro does not. Might you have a solution for this issue? Thanks!

    TB3 on my 872XT is completely unstable...SMB disconnects for any reason...moderate volume...anything. Absolutely unable to use it as a library reference for audio/video or photography. QNAP Support unable to help.

    • @silversulu
      @silversulu 3 роки тому

      @@QNAPUK So I moved the QNAP from my 2019 Mac TB3 to my 2020 Macbook Pro TB3 and now it's stable as a rock and able to handle everything you'd expect. The iMac is used to run a studio so it has a multi component daisy chain of TB3 components (interfaces, disks) AND its main Ethernet is controlling a pro audio mixing desk. The TB3 behavior I was getting out of the TV-872XT was random disconnects, constant & spontaneous rebooting & RAID Vol synchronization, coming up with file system not clean warnings daily. Now that it's connected to the MBP - quiet as a church mouse. In fact I've never seen it this stable. So it has to be the iMac setup. No one from QNAP support for the past year & half (and there's been many tickets) can figure ou what's going on. Unfortunately the iMac is the root of my video editing & music production, so I'll have to see if I can swing a TB3 to 10GBe Ethernet and see if that calms things down. QUESTION: Is the iMac able to have two Ethernet connections? It's 1Gbe port directly controls the mixing desk AND the TB3 to 10GBe Ethernet connection to the NAS? Or will I need a switch? Wish I was better at networking.

    Hi, I'm using my TVS-872xt to edit videos. Because of security issues, I don't want my NAS to connect directly to the net via my home router, instead I'd like it to go via my Mac via the thunderbolt connection. Is this possible? I can't find any guides. Unfortunately, I'm not that much of a tech wiz, so a really simple version would be great. I'm using QuTS.

      In case you're still struggling with this... I had a similar problem. Everything looked to be configured correctly but the performance was terrible. What was happening was that traffic was ignoring the TB connection and going out through my WiFi instead, out to my nearest AiMesh node and then through a 1Gb cable to my NAS. Simply switching my WiFi *off* forced traffic to go through the TB connection and, since I had T2E set up, I still had a full internet connection.
      I'm not sure why it was favouring WiFi. The TB bridge was *above* the WiFi connection in my OS network config. My write speed went from around 35MB/s to 400MB/s, which ain't too shabby an improvement!
      BTW, after I re-enabled WiFi, traffic continued to go via the TB connection. *shrug* Not complaining. ;)

    How can you put files in a specific drive (hdd o ssd) once you have both volumes created?

    • @jordidalmau8471

      Also, did you create a LUN sorage for each one or not LUN at all?

    • @QNAPUK
      @QNAPUK  Рік тому

      If you want to choose a specific drive then you will have to use the drives as single drives, rather than something like a redundant RAID. When you create a shared folder it will ask where you want it created, you can pick whichever volume is on whichever drive you wish this way.
      Within a RAID the data is spread on all drives part of that RAID.

      Did not use iSCSI LUN's in this case.
