Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the Daytona. The rose gold Day-Date has been my dream watch for a long time now though.
I'am just in love with the Rolex Day-Date 40, that olive color nailed it.
Great review. However how anyone can prefer the Daytona over the Day Date is beyond me. We all have different tastes and that is great. But the rose gold with the green dial is outstanding. Also the presidential bracelet in rose gold with the satin appearance. Absolutely beautiful.
As much as I love the Daytona, it's gotta be the Day Date in this matchup.

I agree with below - best review on the internet. High quality wrist shots that captures the detail and presence of the watch. It's always gonna be different seeing it on screen vs. handling it in the metal, but this is as close as it gets.

Good review. Between these two I'd pick this Day-Date anniversary edition. I find the dial in the Daytona too small for a chronograph, it feels cramped and detracts from legibility. The DD looks sublime.

The rose gold olive face Day-Date is a perfect luxury everyday watch, only let down is its lack of quick adjustment in the President Clasp.

Josh Sonnier thank you. It's so important in regards to this particular piece. Pretty much everyone I know only want the Jubilee. I'm trying to convince myself not to buy, but I know I will have to go for it in the end. Only issue is no blue dial for stainless steel at 40mm that's a huge annoyance. It's the blue dial or nothing for me. Which means somehow getting a modification. Complicated.
Have them both. But I think the president edges out the Daytona on most days by a small margin

Thanks!!! The Daytona has always been my favourite Rolex. The sub is a very cool watch and I love the rugged look it has, but I prefer the smaller more intricate features of the Daytona. I really miss the date function (as mentioned in the video) and I miss the brushed finish, not a massive fan of the all polished look on the Daytona as it scratches so easily and its a bit too shiny.

When you get a daydate how do you change the language? Does Rolex do this? The AD? or do your order them, with days in French Arabic Japanese?

I would go for the Daytona because of the usability. You can wear it with everything as the DD if probably the most dress watch you can go and everyone who has one is 50 years or older!!

Tony Cerone I think the great thing about the Day Date is the multifunctional aspect of it. You could wear it to a business meeting or to a party or just wear it as an everyday wrist watch. It seems strong and robust but undoubtedly it won't be resistant to scratch

A gold Rolex on a strap is like a transvestite hooker with a bad boob job.
I have found I don't prefer dress watches. It's just how my taste has sorted out. So Daytona, for me, is an easy pick. I do appreciate the look and style of the DayDate, but just not for me. And the jubilee makes me weak in the knees.
But wish it had a date feature tho
Why doesn't Rolex just do a perpetual calander already. So limited, either you wear a suit with day date or dress casual in a sports car. Then they have submariner for diving and yacht master to wear on ones boat. Why not be casual or dressy and be able to tell when is the moment with a perpetual calander.

Day date is the most recognisable watch in the world along with datejust. In developing countries like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh etc. (Population of apprx. 2 B), even a common person will recognize from the shape of DJ or DD that the watch is Rolex, not the case with Sub, GMT or Daytona.

Neither!! I’ve grown to Hate that brand and everything that has to do with it!! I’m just going to drop more money into real estate more practical. I can afford one if I wanted and I can wait for them to come into the market but I like real estate better.
Buddy I grew up in a middle class lifestyle with immigrant parents who came here with nothing and for me to go spend 15k on a watch goes against my beliefs and would not improve my lifestyle. If I was a watch collector then I’m all in but I’m not. I can comfortably afford one but then you just can’t have one and start to pour money into luxury items versus hard assets that would keep me wealthy and pay off in the long run. I’m not a people pleaser or keep up with the Jones kind of person I’ll leave that up to you who can comfortably afford any watch : )
If u getting money and saving money. Getting one of these shouldn’t be a problem it’s an investment. If you spend 30. And wear it for 10 years and can get back 25k it’s still a win situation.

actually just tried to Daytona and the day date watch on at a dealer in punta Cana at the hard Rock Cafe I am so disappointed at the size of these tiny watches men must have very small wrists to really wear a 40 41 mm watch as it looks like it is lost in my wrist
