The Biggest Forgiveness Misconceptions (& how to get past them) - Feed Your Soul: Gospel Reflections
THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL IS JOHN 4:5-42
Forgiveness is one of those things we often get wrong. Both in action and in outlook.
Perhaps we think it is easy, until someone wounds us deeply.
Or we think it’s a sign of weakness, until we realize the strength it takes to give and receive it.
Maybe more than anything else, we think forgiveness has a limit. That there are some things that can’t be forgiven, shouldn’t be forgiven.
Today, Allen reflects on a powerful moment where Jesus shows us the truth about forgiveness.

God is not human, he doesn't judge us like human will. Thank you for loving me more Jesus
Amen!!!
Thank you Lynette.
It's definitely one of those things that is more difficult then we give it credit for.
So powerful that Lucy was able to say "I am the woman at the well." We all have our own well, and my heart is full that God forgives regardless of our pasts. Thank you for such a great lesson.
God is good. Thanks Carla!
Allen's reflections are so approachable, his calls to action are clear and loving. This one about forgiveness is so vital today.
Thank you. I really appreciate your watching and your commenting.
Thank you for reminding me that forgiveness is ours if we only listen to the voice of Jesus. However faint it may be at times, if we truly “be still” we can hear Him say “I died on the cross for your sins.”
Yes, thank God for forgiveness.
I know, that Jesus forgives. I can forgive others with no problem. My problem is forgiving myself. I need to let go of my past and forgive myself. This was so great and awesome to hear you speak Mr. Hunt. I will need to listen to it again and reflect. Thank you.
Forgiving yourself is really really hard. And also incredibly freeing and healing.
@@DrAllenHunt Can you recommend a book to help me?
@@gmendez7630 Two suggestions. My book Everybody Needs to Forgive Somebody as well as Matthew's Life is Messy. Both of these can provide help.
@@DrAllenHunt Thank you. I will both. I know I will feel so free from my past when I forgive myself.
@@gmendez7630 God bless you
oh my Allen I am that woman, Lucy, except that the husband I had was very abusive, but his mother was a devout catholic who introduced me to the catholic faith. Because of the abuse the marriage ended but I now prepare children for first communion as a cathecist.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Jennie.
This is really good. I have noticed that unforgivenes creeps in and we must be vigilant. Let's pray for each other every day.
Yes indeed.
Amen and amen.
Thank you for this profound message. This reflection was very impactful. I wept after watching the 8th episode of The Chosen which is an awesome and beautiful scene.
Be silent...& listen/feel God's love. Let it flow through you❣
You are a blessed messenger, my heart hears your words. 💓
Appreciate your support and encouragement.
Thank you so much.
“Jesus’s heart knows mercy”. What an awesome reminder that we are loved by God and forgiven. I have trouble remembering that so these messages are so important for our spiritual growth! Thanks Dr Hunt!
Thank God for his forgiveness and all his Love 💕
Amen and amen.
I believe, help my unbelief…
You are so amazing. I obtain so many blessings from your reflections. Thank you so very much. 🙏
You are very kind. THank you.
Beautiful
Good Job Allen, very insightful
Thanks for your kind words, James
Alan, Powerful message. A home run! THANK YOU
Thanks so much, Jim
Forgiveness is so hard especially when the person keeps doing the same wrong act over and over again never really acknowledging the hurt and pain they cost
You are so right, Myriam. It's really hard.
@@DrAllenHunt Can you offer any readings to me that can offer some guidance
forgiveness is for you it helps you let go of the hurt so you can move on. pray for that person God will give you grace 🙏
@@myriamlarkin8788 Two thoughts: My book Everybody Needs to Forgive Somebody and Matthew's book LIfe is Messy. Both of these can provide you some support and guidance for this
@@DrAllenHunt Thank You I just got Life is Messy from a friend.
Very good.Thank you.
It's never too late. I try to remember Jesus's words to Dismis, the "good thief": "Indeed, today you will be with me in paradise ". If only I could extend heartfelt forgiveness to the family members who betrayed me!
Thank you for listening and commenting, Kathleen.
Wow! So encouraging! Thank you!
Her Name is St Photina, and her feast day is March 20TH
Find that I carry around too much sadness and/or anger until I forgive
This is so true, Jill.
I wish more people really know how Christ forgives. Unfortunately some people who need to know, refuse to listen to anything to do with Christ or God.
Forgiveness is hard to forgive someone for what they have done for you but sometimes the hardest thing to do is forgive yourself. If you can learn to forgive yourself you can forgive others as well
You are so right, James. Forgiving yourself may be the toughest of all.
Beautiful 🌹🌹🌹
Thank you so much, Abby. I appreciate your kind words
@@DrAllenHunt You’re welcome 😇 Thank you again for the Wonderful Gospel Reflection!
Great reflection but not for Gospel for 3rd Sunday of Lent (if that was what it was supposed to be)
Thank you Dark Nova. I used the RCIA Gospel reading for the 3rd Sunday of Lent. Hope it was helpful.
@@DrAllenHunt No problem. I figured out you used year A readings which are used for those going through the Scrutinies. My Gospel-based RE curriculum is using year C. I often like to use the Dynamic Catholic Sunday reflections in my class. Bookmark for next year :-)
@@pulsar0net Bueno!
Can you please get this back to a readable format? Thank you.
Please give us a readable transcript, can’t watch you tube transcripts second by second successfully
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
God bless you, Bart
Her name is St. Photina, the woman at the well
Your title must be the way you talk to God, blasphemy towards the Holy Spirit and denial of the written word and Truth. You demoted Lord God to a human or algorithm. He will never accept your unclean and defiant behavior. Until you accept His command to make amends, and your fault for denying the spirit, now it cost your flesh for your foot being in your mouth, or remedies to your king over 🇺🇸, who the King of kings sent in the flesh. But I caution you, to not pay the sacrifice of fools.
Troy could you explain a little more what you are trying to say here please.
@@MatthewKellyAuthor Sure, where are we meeting to formally discuss this?
