The 90's was a great time for the NBA I mean Jordan basically owned it. But while Jordan was dominating there where some #1 picks brewing on the sidelines getting better and better each year, just waiting for there time to shine!

What's sad about Coleman is he said if he'd of taken his health and life seriously he'd be a hall of famer.
Yea when he was healthy and focused he could of been a hall of famer as he was a brilliant player but sadly too much baggage

@MrOctober44 I 100percent agree with you. After that lockout season where Kemp got fat you saw how really versatile he was. He could actually shoot midrange. I just wish he'd of focused more on the game and not everything else.

I know people think Timmy wasn't a scorer, but the fact he has more points than AI or Barkley, some of the most efficient offensive players to every play the game? Yeah, he's ridiculous!
Duncan played for 6 more seasons , Duncan could score and obviously it was more efficient but AI was a better scorer , Duncan could dominate when he wanted to but his complete game with his defense is what set him apart
He also played in FAR more post season games than Iverson, practically giving him an entire season's worth of extra games over AI alone on that front.

Good video, I always wondered what happened to all those first picks that didn’t succeed. Nowadays most of our first picks are actually succeeding or getting back to top shape which is why the game is really competitive today.
You didn't mention that Glenn Robinson played basketball for The United States in the 1996 Summer Olympics. I think winning the gold medal was the "crowning moment of his career."
IIRC, Glenn Robinson was initially selected but didn't make it to the Olympics due to injury.
He was replaced by Gary Payton.
On the other hand, Penny Hardaway had "a pop" on his knee which he kept playing throughout the Playoffs. Should he took the time to assess that knee, it would made a huge difference to his career.
But then again, there's no assurance if there's another invitation in Sydney.
Also in regards to Shaq, he was named the 50 greatest NBA players and the 75 greatest NBA players of all time.

I totally disagree about its your overall #1 pick about Joe Smith, if your average career 10.1 ppg. That's about a bust in my book. Especially when you have Stackhouse , Garnett in the same draft. Smith was picked adhead of players for reason.

Joe Smith, yeah, never lived up to his #1 status but certainly not a bust. Had a reputation as a solid, hardworking role player who could contribute anywhere, also if you wanted him on your team just wait a year or two, he will make his way there

Tim Duncan is the best #1 pick of the decade. The next year the Clippers selected the worst #1 pick of the decade. It’s all about timing. The next time the Spurs would draft #1, they get Victor Wembanyama. Again, timing is everything.
So far Wembanyama has exactly zero points as an NBA player. All we know so far is he looked bad in summer league.

I think the '97 Bulls still would've won again but the '98 Bulls looked old, tired and beat up, a healthy Penny/Squad Magic team at minimum goes to the NBA Finals, I dunno if they would've beat the Jazz though as the Jazz gave Shaq fits when he played against them on the Lakers in '97/'98 (Jazz won those series together 8-1 rofl)

DC could've been the BEST PF in NBA history!!! Dude here didn't mentioned it, but he could run the break and pass it like no other PF before or after (off the top of my head). If DC had a Kobe or Duncan focus, and stayed out of trouble would've been the NBAs no.1 or no.2 PF of all-time!!! Look at other players opinions of him. There is a patern here - bad Franchises make bad picks.
many sports personalities suffer from, self inflated egos, players thinking that they are better than what people say, but many forgetting that they dont play the game by themselves, so the accolades that players achieve, cant be obtained, unless your fellow team mates play. Hence why its a team sport. Problem why there are so many egos, is that sports personalities are paid too much, many of them end up fkn broke anyway. all major sports need to have a salary cap, players can make extras with endorsements, for those who show extra talent, and maybe end of season bonuses. with a cap on sports, more finances can be made avaliable to improve sporting venues and improve growing talents that can be nourished, and maybe we may actually have real sports persons in time to come, even have more persons invested in sports, also maybe a lower pricec on tickets, which will attract even more fans, and possibly more being spenyt on memorobilia, instead of these present day high priced pre-madonnas, who call themselves athletes.
