Can we all take a moment to appreciate Dirty for giving us free lessons and she doesn’t make it on UA-cam premium even though I think they don’t do that anymore AND she doesn’t put a bunch of ads while she teaches us. Just a BIG thanks too her for the lessons because she’s the reason I can crossover, stagger, backwards skate, spins and more. Thank you Dirty!
I'm a super beginner, but I just basically bought my roller skates to be able to practice all those amazing lessons Dirty gives to us. And I'm so happy with my progress so far, I hope one day I can roller skate better. Thank you Dirty!
Yes!!! Thank you Dirty Deborah Harry for all that you do. My outdoor skating would not have gone as good without your awesome skills as a teacher and motivator all done with your cool unique personality.
I have inline skates, an in process of buying quads.. My skating is improving immensely thanks to Dirty Deb... and my fear is gradually dissipating (at 57 I have a lot of reasons to be scared of falling and fearful of going downhill) Dirty Deb's videos are helping me to build skating skills and confidence, she is so funny and explains things so well, breaks steps down to make it easier.. I cannot thank her enough ... Huge shout out , big hugs and huge thanks to Dirty Deb 🥰💜💜 Di, Newcastle NSW Australia 🇦🇺
"I don't need you give'n it the death grip, it doesn't work like that. You just do a nice friendly pat, pat, pat relationship with the rail"🤣🤣I swear she has the best humour ever🤣gets me everytime!!
That is so cool! Every single video makes me a little less scared of giving it a try (which is kind of important since I just got myself a nice pair of boardwalks 😂) Thank you! ❤️
Oh yeah - when I see a path with the slightest decline and think it looks pretty flat... until you start going down it...! Also: love how easily distracted you are by squirrels and flowers and you don't edit it out!
Deb, your simple and clear teaching cues have been popping in my head when at the rink and leading me to big breakthroughs. You are awesome at this and I thank you for making these.
PEOPLE WATCHING ME ugh!! I struggle with this. Its like I’m petrified if I think someone’s watching. Thank you for this video and all your videos and you!! I love your hat and fanny pack ❤️
This is so helpful! When I was in long beach, there was a spiral staircase on our path and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how people were going down them on skates while turning constantly... I took my skates off! lol.
Forcing my 16 year old to watch this. She panics at the tiniest little hill. I've coached her, my youngest has now tried coaching her...she just won't listen to either of us. Like...we want her to fall or something??? Teens! OY! LOL
Does she have some really good pads that she wears? Having really good pads on makes the fear of falling much less noticeable. Also, just practicing falling can help because you're body will know exactly what to do in that situation
Thank you so much for these videos! I’m turning 40 in a month and thought “to hell with it, I’m learning to skate!” Outdoors is my thing and your videos are amazing
I moved and left my skates I have been a lot sadder without them, skating makes me happy they are being shipped after the 1st of next month and I'm so excited!
As soon as all this coronavirus stuff is over, I’m taking a cross country trip from Connecticut to California and burning up all the sidewalks with my new skates. Connecticut has SOME places to skate but not nearly as many beautiful spots as there are in California. Also, there are so many more people to meet there! No one in Connecticut both skates AND is friendly, haha. Thanks for the video Dirty Deb!
Your technical advice is so helpful and so is the little bit at the end. I just got skates 4-5 days ago and have been skating every day but pretty much only in empty parking lots. Part of that is cause I'm too scared to skate where people can see me, specially up close. So thank you for the little confidence boost!
I absolutely love your tutorials Dirty! You've taught me so much. Whenever I'm practicing I've got your voice in my head saying all of your little mantras. It made me smile when you got distracted by the flower and looked at it.
I am brand new to skating and your videos are amazing in Scotland our paths are a bit on the rough side and all the tips and skills I never even knew existed are turning me into a more adventurous skater with more confidence. And just yesterday had to be that friendly skater who fell on her knees. ❤️
I sense this was supposed to go to another channel. I'm glad it's here because your channel is one of my favs to watch! Your free lessons are unmatched and highly appreciated
Finally a tutorial going down narrow steap pathways. These are two similar obstacles I have stepping out onto the property I live in. The other is two driveways. Driveway choice #1 go down a slight wider to fit trucks, steeper incline but shorter path (no bars to hold onto on driveways). Driveway choice #2 requires going UP a similar path Deborah last went down on to then go down a longer but less steap driveway than driveway #1. What I annoyingly do to start skating is take my shoes and put on my skates where ever I'll be skating occasionally right up front my street sidewalk but all the streets are INCLINED to incline with different types of street surfaces. I haven't really skated the streets around my home because if I haven't see any of you skilled ladies bombing inclined hills then nope I'm not ready.
Was literally working on these exact skills last night, still needing a lot of help. Tysm for making videos exactly what we're needing when we need it💖. I've been terrified of slopes in front of my house, and at playground sidewalks without railings😁
I just went out skating on the local trail downtown. Very narrow hilly and uneven with stairs and slopes. Mind reader. I fell 8 times but got up right away.thanks for your videos.always help my confidence
My stress level was off the charts watching her demonstrate things at the top of the stairs! I kept feeling like she was going to fall backwards and down them! If I were rich, I would buy her a plane ticket to Thailand so she could help instruct me. I'm 2 months into skating, and I am barely getting past the bubble stage. I watch all her videos and feel so pumped up! Then I go out to try, and everything I thought I knew flies out the window. I wish I had someone here like her to help me.
Love your groovy vibe so much...thanks for all the amazing knowledge you shared!!! I have the biggest smile on my face right now...and I love squirrels!!💚✌😁
Your videos are so awesome! You are a top notch teacher! Thanks so much for all your videos. I've learned so much but I have to practice more. Thanks for helping all us newbies. 😘
“Omg there’s a squirrel!” 😂😂 me. I went down my first “bigger” incline at the skatepark and fell back and hit my head. Thank goodness for helmets! But this is super helpful and I’m going to try it again!! Love you Deborah!!
I’ve been practicing almost everyday. Thank you for these videos and for giving me confidence. 🥰 I was skating today without holding on to a tree. 😂 Baby steps for me.

ha! I learned it the hard way that we really do not want to fall backwards on skates! It happened to me about three weeks ago and my back hurt really badly for a week and then still a bit for another. I think now I recovered well enough to actually go out and try skating on roller skates again soon :) I really want to get good at it, knowing that it'll take quite a while, though. Thank you so much for your videos, I've already learned so much about skating and how to do stuff, now the hard part is to practice everything
Thank u SO much Dirty for this video. This is SO helpful. I am so scared to go explore outside because I can’t seem to overcome these obstacles that u have addressed here especially the downhill one. And I love how u use the going up and down the ladder analogy it makes TOTAL sense! It was a light bulb moment 💡Thank u for all these tutorials. U help give me hope that I can eventually someday get this right and learn this whole skating thing! THANK U🥰

I'm a new skater. I went down a little hill for the first time today. I was going down backward slowly and carefully and made it safely. But when I tried going down again forward, I fell and slid down with my butt 😅. Thank you for your videos.
Finally, I've needed this! I live in a flat on the third floor so it's just stairs after stairs and then right after the stairs there's two steep slopes to ride down before there's flat ground 😂
