Would love to see a comparison between the 2-stroke 6HP Hankai and the 4-stroke 6.5HP Hankai motors.
Just shows, if you look after it, they will be in service just like any other brand !
Pretty much!
It whil never be as good or reliable as a suzukie Yamaha honda or even a tohatsu especially when they get older i even prefer a 15 year old suzukie or honda or even a 25 year old yamaha with a lot of hours even one that hase bin abused
@@roverkootnl1854 how do you know that ? Prove it
Beautiful
It's ok 👍
Thanks for the videos. They are very informative and helpful! Can you give a link to the upgraded prop you bought? Thanks!
that'd be a no lol
Have you changed your spark plug yet and if so do you know what type spark plug the motor takes?
I'm thinking of getting the 6 HP for my 13' Saturn inflatable.
How have you found the Bris dinghys?
Hi, I just bought one second hand and noticed the prop has play forward and backward. Would this indicate the prop is loose or ?
How do they perform at trolling speeds?
Which prop did you get? Where can I find an upgrade?
I want to see someone put two of these on one boat
Loctite is your friend, even for that carb screw, or even thread tape, some sort of thread locker. Or replace them, carbs are cheap
My question is, what fuel plug did you use to the motor for an external tank. I can't seem to find a plug that fits correctly. Great videos by the way
Thanks for watching! The connection came with the fuel tank, but it's the same connection that a Johnson, Honda, Tohatsu, or Yamaha would use.
What is this motor a clone of and is it truly rated at 6hp in your opinion ? Thanks!
What length is your sib?
hay i was out today at littl creek boat dock on lake norman trying out my new eng the same name as your a 6.0 hp but i just got up to 5.4 mph is there something on the eng i can make it faster ?
It sounds like you're not getting on plane. What kind of boat are you using? With our inflatable dinghies and the 6.0, we could only really get on plane by shifting the weight to the front of the boat on takeoff and that only worked with 1 person in the boat. Too much weight and it wouldn't plane, effectively cutting the top speed in half.
We have a couple videos on some modifications we did to improve the performance, but the results in our case were negligible. Depending on the boat, you may have better results.

What's your top speed with them do you think would be fine on a 12 ft aluminum jon boat need it for the Delaware River those somewhat of a current
On our dinghies we can hit about 12 - 13 MPH with one person on board and around 7 MPH with 2+ people.
If you're gonna be mostly on the river, I would at least go for the 12 HP Hangkai, it's a big step up from the 6.0 HP.
Would these work on jon boat ?
I bought one, it won’t troll very good. You have to keep moving the throttle to hold speed and it’s a hassle.
i'm thinking of buying a hangkai 6hp two storke. is it worth the money? and were did you get the handle extension? And
are there outlets for hose for an extra fuel tank?
yes and yes.
onlything that fails is the fuelwitch and ofcourse getting crap in the carb. i also dont like the weird fuelline they have (from like 12mm to 6mm with a 90 degree bend) impossible to find replacement
@Nickerian91 did you find a replacement for it?
@@staceyryan7317
the fuelline i "repaired" by using a shrink tube over it. the alternative is to use a straight fuel line but this results in an airgap since the line will go down then upwards.
Would maybe try to epoxy a 90% fitting to the bottom but u would need a fuel resistant epoxy.
It also lacks any space for a fuel filter which makes the carb choke randomly.
The engine itself works wonders. no idea how they messedup the fuelline and fuelswitch so badly
How about a drag race, see which mod makes the boat faster?

I'm amazed that a Chinese made outboard when property maintained can last so long, and I also own a 4k Chinese made TCL smart tv and it works great. And one more thing Toyota and Honda made the American car companies look bad back in the 70's 80's, and 90's because Japanese made cars especially Toyotas are some of the most reliable vehicles in the world. But that's just my opinion.
That is exactly what we have been telling people. The Chinese can make good stuff, but more often than not, we're buying cheaper small goods from China. There is a lot of manufacturing and engineering experience over there and I think they could be on par with some of the Japanese stuff in a decade or two. The main thing we've noticed is that the products are not always consistent. Thats why we always buy 2 of everything to test out. We have been testing out some Chinese motorcycles for the past month or so as well. Hopefully we can get some videos of that out soon!
American had a couple bad cars and 90s. But not all their cars that made them look Bad. And the Japanese used to hide their recalls. American car companies got cars in a million mile range. Once the toilet is blocked, they're done.
Since this is oil/fuel mix does it matter at all which way it is laid down when moving/transporting around?
Yes. If you lay it down, the tiller handle side is supposed to face up.
If it's a 2 stroke it doesn't matter which side you lay it on!
I have mine on an 8 ft inflatable sports boat. I cannot get the boat faster than 4 mph. The engine sounds just fine but no speed whatsoever. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Is the boat able to plane? If our boats aren't on plane, they can only go about 7 mph. We have to shift our weight to the front of the boat on takeoff to get ours to plane with one person. Add a second person and/or a bunch of heavy gear and it becomes impossible.
Is it possible to hook up an external fuel tank with the 6 hp hankai
Yes, the Hangkai 6.0 has a standard Yamaha/Johnson fuel tank connector.
I bought the same motor but can't get it registered in the State of Texas because the company will not send me a Bill of Sale or the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin. How did you guys do it? Do you need to register the outboard where you live?
We don't have to register outboards of any size here. You might be able to get a bonded title using the invoice from Amazon (or wherever you bought it from), but as far as I've been able to tell the 6.0 Hangkais don't have serial numbers stamped on them (The 12 & 18 does and the 3.5 also does not).
If you haven't tried calling the Wildlife, it might be worth a try. I've called ours a few times and they're always very helpful (your results may vary). I asked about buying one of the cheap eBay inflatables that doesn't come with a HIN or MCO and they told me I could register it as home built. I also bought a jet ski with no paperwork and it turns out all I had to do was fill out an affidavit of vessel purchase and I was able to get a title. You never know if there is some backdoor way they have to get it done. If not, hopefully you can still return it (or sell it to someone in Louisiana).
@@HufflerGarage I finally got the company to send me a Bill of sale and MSO. How? They were told they would not be able to sell anything in Texas without a Bill of Sale and MSO by a the largest online company and the TX Attorney General.
If it doesn't have a title when buying used or a Bill of Sale and the MSO when buying new, you are screwed in Texas. It is almost impossible to register or title a boat, motor, or trailer in TX without either a title or Bill of Sale and the MSO.
Not sure about Texas but here in Oklahoma anything under 10hp does not need to be registered
Hey my hankai motor won’t run with the choke off. Any advice?
Make sure your carburetor is adjusted properly. Check out our how-to video here: ua-cam.com/video/bgejBqP5PU4/v-deo.html
Could I swap this to a console throttle and shifter?
You should be able to. I would look for a remote control box that is compatible with an older Mercury/Tohatsu 4-6 HP motor.
Are they made for salt water or fresh?
Good for both!
Do you think it would last in salt water?
Yeah. We've used them in saltwater. Flush them out good every time.
Do you still use the motor and do you think it's worth 700$
Yes we still use them. Definitely worth the price compared to a name brand motor and the amount of fun we've had with these.
i will stick with mercury or tohatsu
Geez they are loud
Merci beaucoup 😉
Have a feeling in salt water it will fall apart
What about moving water? On a river? Can you jet these motors for colder wether areas? What about replacing parts? Like engine rebuilds? Pistons rings? Crank rebuild? Or should i simply buy a real outboard made by mercury! 😂
These are sold out everywhere
Looks like they're back in stock on Amazon (or at least available to order with a July delivery date).
I have a theory that all of the Hangkai listings are run by the same person/company. We ran into the same issue when ordering the 18 last year. I got the last one I could find, but they didn't ship it to me because it was damaged so I had to wait for more stock to come in. Once it did, all of a sudden everybody had them again. Also, if you look at the prices, once you account for shipping they're pretty much all the same too.
@@HufflerGarage good to know. I actually ended up just getting a used Mercury. Kinda needed it sooner than later
Why would you buy that thing when you want to buy a cheap outboard just buy an ols yamaha
Yeah that thing looks like my 80lbs thrust trolling motor would pass that engine standing still! 😂
Haow much one engine 6 hp
It looks like they are running around USD$720 now. Check the Amazon link in the description if you're in the USA and would like to buy one.
Yeah I just bought mine $670... figured I would give them a try for my 12 footer
