Probably the most nervous I've ever seen stevo in a interview hahahaha it was great tho. Maynard was a real one
Dude, no doubt. He looked almost intimidated but Maynard can be an asshole and d!k. It’s kinda weird but I don’t like MJK very much because he’s like that but I’m ahole too at times.
Edit: ok I didn’t watch it all before my comment and I still feel the same but I really appreciate how open he is about his singing ability since he’s older now. Admitting he can’t do the same as when he was younger(there’s no question he’s still awesome though. That was incredible self aware and I totally respect that for sure. I cant remember hearing another singer admitting that, they are usually self conscience about it.
Maynard is a one in a billion when it comes to his level of creativity and skill sets. I heard hes a wine sipper and grape grower. I too have seen tool in concert and is one of my favorite concerts I've ever been to.
Theres a documentary about his wine making. Think its called "blood into wine"
Yep. He owns and runs Caduceus Vineyard in Arizona. Has a website (can't post cuz gets post deleted) that has pictures and can buy wine.
Maynard is the God of Acid brain funz.
And he nearly was accepted at West point when music caught him adding to great skills in jiu jitsu or wrestle I'm not quite sure.
Maynard is a machine
@@lydia5649 yep. I'm a fan since his first release. There isn't anything out there like his .
Jeeze, I just realized Steve-O is 48 and Maynard is 58. I'm 41 myself. I still feel 18 😅 Watching people - and yourself- grow older, is fucking wild.
I’m 41 and I agree.. wild af. 😂
Riiiiight there with you 😂
Wild af, indeed.
Def crazy, hope everyone a long wonderful life
I am 29 and I feel 58
Lol, Steve o actually blushed and turned into mumble mouth trying to talk to Maynard...
0:40 Maynard exemplifying the whole "reject compliments and insults alike" philosophy 🤣🤣🤣
I’m glad Steve-O brought up his abilities as far as performance goes now at almost 60 years old compared to the past and Maynard explained it very well, a lot of people throw shit saying he can’t sing the same anymore and all that bullshit but the reality is you age, you change, your voice changes, and he’s very good at recreating those experiences without hurting his vocal chords but he is aware of his limits, and others need to understand that when they bitch about a guy not singing the way he did at 25 years old, it’s unrealistic, these artists have to preserve their instrument, and Maynard is still a brilliant singer and lyricist
Yep. MJK is human just like the rest of us
He was in his 30s but ok
Just seen him with puscifer and apc this week he sounded incredible to me better than he did 10 yrs ago
I remember first hearing "Passenger" from the White Pony album and I asked my friend who Maynard was. He responded instantly with a "HOW DARE YOU??!!"
Sounds like a stereotypical Tool fan.
Deftones
@@carolc.776 The One And Only 😎👍
@@taylorlo4542yeah he shouldve just told you
Tool is one of those bands we’re lucky to be alive and witness while they’re still here ..for real for real
Yup
Correct!
One of the most distinct sounds ever I'd say. Definitely a great band, all timer
For realzees. \m/
💯
Found Tool in 93 the year my son was born. Have been my favorite ever since. They are also my sons favorite. See 4 times, and they never disappoint. EXCELLENT in concert. Amazing every time and an awesome mother son event! Words can't express how absolutely fantastic tool is in concert. I vowed to my kiddo that next time, I will take him vip!
He might not be able to belt out the epic scream in The Grudge any longer but his vocals have actually gotten even more nuanced and delectable
He rocked The Grudge when I saw them twice last year. Their set at Bonnaroo was fucking nuts.
Yeah they played the grudge in Manchester recently and he absolutely smashed the scream.
@@marcaitken2330 That’s rad. Seeing them in concert is always a highlight in my life. Do you think they’ll release another album?
But he can. He just said he can’t do all those songs together anymore 😂
I just seen him at louder than life and they started the show with the grudge and yes he still can do the scream and it was amazing!! That’s was just less than a month ago!!!
Maynard is just a dude, a dude who can separate your soul from your body with his voice.
That’s the acid but the tool helps
I keep coming back to this just to hear Maynard say “that was great”
Bro can you blame him? Its fucking TOOL!
most overrated band ever.
@@guyincognito143Tool
Those few seconds of silence after Maynard has been asked a question and you can hear him calculating “do I like this person enough to tolerate this stupid question with a real answer”
I've been happy to know young Master Keenan since the late 1970s (he was Jimmy then- Maynard was still a concept) when he was a wrestler back in Scottville , MI... Knew his Dad and step-Mom as well . They were nice, good people.
He & I would be in the back of the old YFC bus travelling home down icy roads from some wrestling meet & talking Rock-n-Roll... good times.
Now here he is talking Rock-n-roll in a bus with Steve-O...... 👍😃
So you know he's a pedophile?
He has such Bill Burr energy. Idolize him at your peril during interviews haha
Those 90’s early 2000’s Tool shows were wild. My first concert was Tool 1998 Lewiston Maine (whole concert is on UA-cam somewhere, considering the year, the film and audio is quite good) before Maynard migrated to the back of the stage. Sept 2001 was my second Tool show, was worried they were going to cancel it because of 9/11 but, I could be wrong but I think the Portland Maine show was their first concert after 9/11. The had people drop down from the rafters on wires dressed as the figure on the live Salival album. Tool and Clutch are my two favorite bands.
I saw Tool in Manchester 2 weeks ago, I swear to god they’re still incredible live. If you can still go and see them, please do.
The Butthole Bundle 😂😂
STEVE O TURNED INTO FARLEY!!!! Lmao Farley and McCartney interview all over again.....**chefs 💋!
I saw tool six times growing up, best live show ever.
Seen a perfect circle four or five times.
Have yet to see pucifer
ok
Steve dude I personally think that you handled that above average
Myself I am not sure how the fuck I would even begin to explain to Maynard how insanely huge and important Tool is for me without it sounding like I'm kissing ass
Maynard knows full well how Tool fans are
I have not yet had the opportunity to see Tool live so far but I would probably need to take some time out to let the experience sink in and let me enjoy the high for a bit
I’ve always been a fan of Maynard love all of his work
Seen Maynard over 20 times live between his 3 bands best live singer I have ever seen and it's honestly not close
You can't expect them to preform like they did 30 years ago
Except for Danny Carey, he's such a beast
Maynard really could belt it out in the 90s from what I've seen on UA-cam
Maynard seems like he hates when people say they like him and his music.
A great clip from one of my favorite interviews.
I saw Tool live in Massachusetts....INCREDIBLE
I litteraly paused this to watch the Tyson Jones fight and at 42 I feel very mortal and agree with you guys.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tool and the Deftones are amazing live
What a unique band. They all need each other more than they know it.
0:49 lmfao after that Ok, Steve felt it. Lmao only a tool fan would know how shitty he probably felt. 🤣
Hah...I first saw Tool in "96 also. Dirty little metal sweat-box called the Salem Armory in Salem, OR. Tool was awesome, and the place was lit. Opening act was called Cow, or maybe Cows, and the singer kept playing this stupid fucking trumpet into the mic. Crowd hated them and was booing like crazy, and Maynard had to come out and ask everyone to give them a chance. We just wanted TOOL!! I crowd-surfed the fuck outta that show. Good times...
Humility with all members of tool. Look at the rest of these older bands. They get it. Respect
Saw that reaction coming from a mile away. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Btw, this entire episode was awesome!!
"Ok."-Maynard James Keenan
It was march 1997 at the convention center albuquerque nm with the melvins... I was at that show I remember it like it was yesterday
Wobbly footage
Yeah they must have had the engine running or something
Or too much cocaine?
I love this show but how does this video editor not know how to stabilize video lol
If you see this Manyard I want you to know I followed your music since undertow when I was kid and I know my parents didn’t understand what I was listening too. It helped me become the person I am now. I’m not just saying this and I just don’t think music has the creativity and musicianship in anything anymore and I say especially metal or experimental or whatever you call it. I was saved by it.
Maynard grappled with a fan who geeked on stage for a 10 minute song. Literally did mma while performing a whole tool song. This is definitely a thing the man encounters A LOT. So Steve O’s reaction ain’t that bad
I remember watching that video. Pretty sure I downloaded it from Kazaa back in the day. The song was "Pushit". What a gem.
Slightly creepy but definitely epic.
@@td315 it’s HIS STAGE lmao
@@alfobootidir2474 I can’t think of something I’d like less than wrapping my legs and body around another dude for multiple minutes and it was by choice.
@@td315 the guy wanted to be a part of the show, maynard was doing his best to incorporate the idiot stage bomber whilst still giving the rest of the audience what they paid to see. Just what about that do you not understand here?
Best thing about this is the Hattie B’s shirt Maynard has.
I saw Tool in Albuquerque NM too, didn't know Steve used to live there.
Deep and real
Me too man me too
Our bodies aren't the same over time but Opiate was a pretty good album.
MJK is the best male vocalist of our time.
Drummer for real
lol MJK is like ya i kno were great live
First watched Maynard and Danny live with Green Jello back in the early 90's and all through the 90's until Jun 23 2007 with Tool. They are still one of my favorite bands but after seeing them so early on in their physical primes I started noticing I felt like watching them live was about the same as watching a Pink Floyd laser light show. I was bored. I still support them with purchases, just not concert sales anymore.
people saying maynard came off as a douche but i think he was pretty chill given someone was fanboying over him in a small space lol he’s softened up a bit with age
Steve is so nervous the camera is shaking
It’s crazy that you compare
Why is that camera shaking so bad wtf? No one is mentioning it either.
I mean Stev O has a hot sauce called Stevos hot sauce for your butt hole, so hes not scared to say it haha hes just a fan
LOL, Steve O hasnt seen that many classic Tool shows then, This is the band who would intentionally bomb shows depending on circumstances, or completely hide their stage show.. Steve Os referring to the band thats essentially owned by Labels until fairly recently.
Ali is the prime example of going to the well one too many times.
He showed us what will inevitably happen when we try to recapture the glory too long after the strength, stamina, speed and skill have abandoned us.
Gov spies are watching me cause why did u make a tool clip at the same time I’ve been just getting into tool
I may never see tool in concert and it breaks my fucking heart.
They are badass bro
Saw them twice, best nights ever
They are touring this winter
@Keith Hutchins I've got to go. Not many chances left
@@noahcutter I saw them last year my first time and it was sooooo rad! Definitely recommend them.
Steve-o went total fan boy....and so would I if mjk was talking to me..😂😊
I saw tool once. It was the worst thing I've seen for free.
Why was it free, you went with a friend? And why was it bad?
Guacamole is better with cilantro
Maynard was being a dick on purpose.
Maynard is a god
You're a Tool
Those liquid Death waters are nasty af. Drank one yesterday.
Hmmm, the analogy of heavyweight boxing and playing live doesn't really fly. Sorry Maynard.
Steve O you're fucking awesome!!!!!!!
Ok what is wrong SteveO "$ voice
I love Maynard, but he's kind of a douche when people are excited to be around him. I know he doesn't think he's great, but a lot of people do. He has to have someone he would fanboy over. He didn't have to do Steveo like that. 😂
You aren't paying attention, dummy
Douche? He joking man😂
@@obzen901 right.
He is very much a pretentious dude. I know.
Yeah I understand not wanting fans to go crazy over you, but when someone is sincerely/respectfully complimenting, why make them feel bad/embarrassed about it? kinda dick move imo
Learn to swim, see ya down in Arizona Bay.
666th like.
You still selling those wipes bro? Why do you hate the environment so much?
Wow shocker a guy from tool is a tool
say it to his face
How so? Seemed pretty down to earth in this clip at least.
Ya, but Maynards hat is trying wayyuuyy too hard to be what? Tough? A farmer?
I can't think highly of him for how desperate he has been always to maintain a persona.
He's not the guy anyone wants him to be and listen to him, he will tell you.
He's not very spiritual. He fancies himself smarter and then capable and willing to take money from people.
I'll say it, it's shallow.
He just said Money twists people. He knows he's talking about himself.
… he lives in arizona, california is also very sunny - it’s good for your skin and eyes to wear a hat with a 360 brim but also he’s just adorning the arizona cowboy swag.
why do you choose a certain haircut style? why do you choose to wear a especific t-shirt? why do you like all the stuff do you are on?
Do you let someone to define your own ideals depending of the way do you dress?
The most overrated band of all time
Wrong answer looser
I don't even want to know which band is underrated
Who do you like to listen to?
I worked security for tool in the late 90s, Maynard is an intimidating guy, even tho he's on their small side. He's sketchy and unpredictable. Maybe he's changed 🤷
Hattie Bs Hot Chicken is tops
That shit is for tourists. Try Prince's Hot Chicken. Just simple, hood, hot ass chicken.
Maynard I love you but you also need to loosin up but I get it I'm insecure too
