I’m glad to see small church setups. Don’t get me wrong, love to see the very large expensive mega church setups, but this was helpful at least for me. Got some good ideas out of it for my small church.

I agree! With around 70% of US churches being under 100 members, we need more of this type of content. I love the huge tech tours and church front because of the way Jake & the team present the variety of church tech, aiming to inspire people like me to continually improve, think out of the box and equip our volunteer techs to push for non-distracting excellence!

    • @michaelpianokeys
      @michaelpianokeys 5 місяців тому

@@shul5684 Whoa! Don't scare people away. Board & Digital Snake 4000. Computer 800. Cameras 300. Stream Deck 200. Speakers 3000. TVs 800. Cables 300. Headphone Amps 500. IEM are actually cheap these days (don't overspend... Amazon has greeeeat ones for 30/ea)... so say 150 for them. ProPresenter (contrary to popular belief) can be purchased with a perpetual license for $400 for a single computer. It does not require a subscription (optional)... So I would say it is possible to do this for $10,000. I would say $5000 is a lot of extra to work into the budget of a small church (if they went off of the $15k number).

Very nice setup. I'll mention a few things/tips for you and viewers here:
    1. Computer setup: lighted keyboard and trackball
    2. Use long velcro strips to simplify XLR and 1/4" connections: drum machine, snake, mixer back
    3. Talkback mic should have switch and a small stand.
    4. dbx DriveRack w/ RTM to ring out room
    5. 2nd private talkback system so leader can talk privately to sound engineer on headphones.
    6. NO SUBWOOFER unless DONE RIGHT. I'm 90% sure the subwoofer is boomy and slow. Position it under a FOH speaker or don't use it at all. 90% of all subwoofer installs I've heard are BAD. Subwoofers tend to muddy up the mix if separated from the FOH speakers.
    7. Brother-label every XLR, cable, etc. etc.
    8. Everything in Gator cases or 5-gallon buckets w/ lids for storage/mobility.
    9. I prefer unpowered speakers w/ Class AB amps. Replacing a defective amp on a powered speaker is a PITA. If a powered speaker goes bad, only the manufacturer can fix it and it may take months and will definitely cost hundreds of dollars. In contrast, a bad unpowered speaker or amp is easily replaced relatively cheaply.

I agree with some of the comments here. While I love the huge churches and all the tech, it's always awesome to see a more relatable/majority level setup. I'm currently renovating the AVL setup at my local church, I'd love to have JG come tour it once it's done as a "small church tech tour" I think he'd enjoy how we're using the space.

Also church budget on small churches like this are tight. Most comes from the pastors family. So getting an analog mixer made the most since at that time and level of effort to train a volunteer is lower. Heck we had a church with 8-10 members. Our drums didn’t have any cymbal hardware. But we made it work for the year we attended there.

My church is an old one from the 1800s and uses old computer software. We have a small counter area for the tech equipment, made by our head tech guy. It has a computer and an area for a laptop, a sound control system similar to the one shown at 1:01 but bigger and more things to move. And there’s also a light switch area on the wall just above the top counter lip that goes around the outside, hiding the computer equipment with all the switches for all the lights in the worship area

Thanks for the video. . .your church setting information is so useful for us, i appreciate it.. Thank you
We also use velcro to manage the cable on the floor...and it really works
your church sound system is so advance, the mixer and all the electronics is so good...
It is our dreams setting, and imo this setting is the dream of almost church in Indonesia
i live in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, imo many of our churches has problem with room acoustics, the ceilings is to high, many of the churches have no proper sound absorsing system. . .
But now in the era of information we can improve even though we do it little by little
In my church we use behringer xair 12 for the acoustic drum & worship leader/preacher mics.
The main mixer is yamaha mgp 16x. . .
we also use xair 12 if we go outside service, such as: congregations thanksgiving memorial services(if one of congregation ask or has no budget or recources for it), funeral service, youth camp, or for christmas celebration etc

IMO this is still a lot of tech (cost) for such a small church.
An A&H SQ? In ears? Digital stage box? Only one camera? A sub? etc.
As a small church, this tech would be a dream. But it's not necessarily what you would NEED. This stuff is not the bottom line.
I find with all these tech tours, a LOT of people get confused that the tech shown is base line what you need to "do church".
Also, that drummer was pounding that electronic kit. An acoustic kit is absolutely do-able if the player plays for the space.
    Anyway, what would I know?

we started small church group nondenominational no longer bound by church leaders pastors’ rules system. We seen evidence of churches organisation under pastors leaders system no longer bound by biblical principles. In our group we just have one acoustic guitar that’s it.Every time we come together worshiping God the we feel the power of the presence of God moving during our worship. Because I know God is interested whose heart is pure from inside out.

I'm surprised those cables weren't run through the wall, exiting through a brushed grommet or a wall plate. That text is mighty small and not to AVIXA standards for the distance from the TVs to the back row. It's common for churches to want to throw up TVs but they can actually do harm to people's vision making the text too small.
