38 Special, Molly Hatchet, and Blackfoot was pretty much a 3-bill every summer for 3-4yrs back in the day. Was always a good time. Man, I miss the late 70's and early-mid 80's...there was always one or two really great live concerts a week within driving distance, especially during the summer.

Southern rock always had such a distinct feel. Very cool, and always makes you smile and move to the music. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, etc always had a funky southern sound, excellent vocals, and lead guitars. What more could you want? Man, I miss those well-rounded rock bands!!

Back in 1982 I was working at a factory. I made friends with a young man who told me about this group and the album. I liked it, bought the cassette tape and still have that same cassette tape! I've seen this band live at least 10 times, maybe 15! No, they did not always have 2 drummers! The best was the jam sessions they always had at the end of the night with the other bands they toured with. Like Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Charlie Daniels, Allman Brothers, etc. but usually a southern rock band. Love those days when it only cost $7 to $10 to see a concert! I'm old now but love it when I see the great music still being listened to! Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!✌

Seen them open for Skynard in around 1976 in Nashville. The 2 drummers blew my 12 year old mind. Been my favorite group since. (Chain Lightning) is one of many I think you would like.
I first saw 38 when I was 15 years old, they were opening for molly hatchet at the time we all agreed that 38 dominated the show, I too was amazed to see the two drummers playing in unison

Donnie Van Zant is the singer you're talking about. His brothers Ronnie and Johnny were Skynyrd's lead singers. The other lead singer is Don Barnes, still with the band to this day. They had two drummers through 1987 or so. You HAVE to listen to their song Chain Lightning. Easily their best in my opinion, and a slow grinder in contrast to most of their songs being more up tempo.
That was Donnie Van Zant, number two of the three Van Zant brothers whose Chuck Berry walk you were admiring. The lead singer and band leader is Don Barnes. I think the other guitar player was Jeff Carlisi.
Even though Amber is not here with Jay but I'm pretty sure he shares these songs with her on their own personal time which is no problem who knows maybe some day she might appear on a this channel once in awhile which is ok too, if not it's no problem at all... I have seen several videos where you have noticed particular instruments on either side of your headphones. This is particularly prevalent in 60s music when stereo was relatively new and producers/arrangers would exaggerate the effect when mixing the tracks.

In the early 80's I used to loads of Rock and Biker festivals. This Southern Rock style was our bedrock.
