Been watching for almost 2 yrs now and the thing that I liked the most about your builds is that it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect and that you use different techniques, paint mediums and keep reminding everyone that we should build it how we want to and that it's a hobby and it's suppose to be fun. Keep on building your way because we all love it. Rock on brother
Thanks, that's what this is about, the FUN side of models! If folks want to go next level and detail, that's very cool too! But we shouldn't look down on anyone for the way they choose to enjoy their hobbies.
@@hpiguy I 100% agree. I just don't understand why someone would watch your videos of you building the models that belong to you and would have the nerve to criticize your work. If they don't like how you are building then they should stop watching and move on. I'll say it again, we love your videos and thoroughly enjoyed each and every second.
Good job! I built this car when the series first came out in the early 70's! I've been out of modeling for several decades. My mother in law got me this kit and another one for Christmas. Looking forward to building again.
My Grandfather had a 62 Ford Fairlane 500, when I was a kid. Four door, three on the tree, and the big straight six. White with blue interior. It has been fifty years since I was in that car. I still have the paperwork for it,and I have one picture of it. I will never forget that car, or the man that owned it.
Boy that tow bar brought back memories! Back in the early ‘70’s I used to see race cars being towed to Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC with tow bars, almost always crudely lettered “race car in tow” on the back of them, and a set of trailer brake lights mounted on trunk lid! Must have been a real pain to get it home if you crashed it hard!
Got to thank you for this one. Just finished my first”dirt” track car. For the first time I used the craft paint for mud, rust on bumpers and crackle on seat and dash etc. I had a blast. I don’t do Facebook so I can’t show you a picture. Thanks again, Chris
CHRIS is keeping the dream alive , the memories of days gone by . This would be a cool Slot Car .... ! Remember during the 1960's how popular Slots were ???
Very Nice build !! Love Love Love the old vintage short track stockers. Just a quick comment/tip. Because short track stock cars raced mostly in the evening and many tracks had less than stellar lighting, driveshafts were required to be painted white. A small easy detail that adds a touch of realism !!!
This comment applies to all of your model car build vids i've seen... This may sound wierd but the background music in your vids is actually soothing to me. I've been dealing with some things and building models helps calm my nerves. Your light, fun approach (and the music) is great.
You are right about the wheels though! Beautiful color. The hood pops, and, of course, first day on the track, he is sporting the local "beer and burgers" sponsor, proudly, I might add, lol! Great job!!
Beautiful job like always. Love the color choices. My son and I just built 2 of these and had a great time especially the extra engine and the pad printed tires. Love it when you do all the different motor sports cars. Keep yourself, family, and friends safe and healthy. Thank you
My Dad took me to a lot of car races when I was growing up. I remember well when '65 Fords, Mercury's, Chevy's, etc were running at the Daytona Firecracker 400 races. This model brings back those memories. Thanks for what you do on UA-cam. You must have a great shelf just full of models!
Nice. I like using the core of carpenter pencil (graphite) to highlight worn metal look run along the edges. Smudge some for a worn grimy appearance. I do mainly military kits but this would work with cars and trucks.
Gotta love it. Another great build. I love modified cars set up for track racing. We used to have a nice dirt track here in Manitowoc. It was at the Manitowoc, County Fairgrounds, but the powers that be got rid of it for a Meijer store.

Looks good 👍🏼 I’m working on the kit right now. I’m not sure if I got a bunk kit or what, but my kit has loads of molding issues, warped parts with holes and the fitment is rough. Lots of filler and sanding. It happens I suppose 😅 65 fairlane is my first vehicle, so I had to build this kit. Shoot, maybe I’ll turn my REAL fairlane into a stocker!
As a child, I used to build AMT & Revelle, but I always thought AMT was cleaner, better fit, & a bit more simple. All around a cleaner kit, & thats my take on it 50 years ago.
I loved the Fairlanes, had a 62’ Fairlane myself, a 1/1 car, it was a 4dr. And 6 banger w/3 on the tree but I liked it! It was a good running little ole car! Anyways, another nice build there Chris, as usual! 👍👍🤘✌🏻
They do exist and are extremely rare. They were released in two different box designs. I have collected 6 new old stock kits, 3 in each box design. There are also promo models that were made in red, black, and champagne.
That was a fantastic build... thank you so much for your great informative video's.. keep up the fab reviews. it really is appreciated. kind regards Dave 😁👍.
You do some lovely kits and love the way you do them ----- I used to do model cars but here in UK all those kits are now seriously beyond a hobby --- double what they cost in US as we get hit with import duties and taxes 🙄 Anyway keep up the good work 👍
You were saying that if you wanted to make the tires “dirt track” tires you can cross hatch the tires. I was thinking, I use a tool in my leather working that’s made for carving horse hair on leather, and because it has sic rows of small blades, it would be very easy to cross hatch the rubber. Just a thought to try and make it easier to mimic tire tread.
Another great build. It’s just a pity the destroyed so many great annual kits to make these modified stockers. The original kit this was based on goes for ridiculous amounts of money now.
Hi Chris...you always do a professional job on these models, but my 2 cents here is that it's a shame they modified the tooling, to the disappointment of those of us who like to build our models showroom stock
This kit was originally an AMT 1965 annual kit and came with two engines: stock and racing. The small V-8 is the Ford small-block 289 and the big V-8 is the high-performance Ford 427 Wedge optional engine. The little 289 is kind of a bonus that they still included it in this Modified Stocker kit. public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/ford/1961-1970/amt-65-fairlane-hardtop/6.html
