    I always wanted one of these when I was a kid. Super jealous, but now that I'm retired from the fire department, I still don't think I will ever be able to afford one. Maybe someday I'll be able to find one I can afford to rent, even if for just one week. That would be neat. Thanks for the look. I will be checking out your inside video next.

      Its laid out exactly like Dale's RV from the walking dead, except the bed in front of the back door folds up so you can get in and out. Being a chieftain there are also some odd features, such as a built in central vacuum.

    Love this sort of thing. While in a totally different sphere, I have a 1970 Triumph Bonneville, and I always find it fascinating to see other vehicles that are of the same vintage. Looking forward to seeing the inside!

    I have a 1976 Brave, D26-RT the best brave you could get. I love 70s Winnebagos.

    What a beautiful coach! I've always wanted a D27, especially with that rubber plate suspension. I have a 1973 D20T Brave, not quite as rare but still cool to see other people using any enjoying the older Winnebago motorhomes.

    Man, I really dig that groovy 1970 motorhome! I'd prefer it to any of the new stuff of today. It looks sharp! That must have been the longest winnebago motorhome of 1970.

    I remember when you first picked that beauty up and I saw it at jimcos.. I loved your dad's idea for the scissor lift... I still have my 1975 Brave... kids are much bigger now and I need a longer one let me know when you're ready to sell yours... lol say hi to your Dad from all of us..

      Hi Vic! Sure miss seeing you guys around! As for selling mine, I calculated how many burial lots it would take to utilize the rig as my casket the other day. Apparently standard grave lots down here in the states is 2.5 feet wide by 8 feet long. I just need to buy 12 in a row and I got it made! If I park on top while I'm alive, it might make a nice camp site as well!

    Hey man! 😁 I recently watched your scissor lift video, really enjoyed it! Left a like on the video and continued to watch UA-cam, then today I was looking up winibego videos and here you are again! 🤣 hilarious that I ran into your channel again, that means only one thing. It’s time I subscribed. 😋🤘 see you in the next video

    It is actually a D27MI...the MI stands for motorhome incomplete chassis. They were the commercial version that came with 2 entry doors for easy access by customers. They used them as blood mobiles, book mobiles, rolling shops, etc... some were built into rvs as well. I can send you a link to an original sales brochure. I owned a 76 model that was 1 of 2 built that year.

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  5 років тому +1

      Hi Ivan, actually mine is not a MI. In 1970 you could order a 2 door fully equipped Chieftain Winnebago, the brochure to that is here. winnebagoind.com/resources/brochure/1970/70-WinnebagoD-bro.pdf When I purchased it, it came with a 3 inch notebook full of its history including the original order forms. It was ordered in early 1970 and I want to say cost $18,000ish, I will have to look at the invoice to confirm that. I also have correspondence regarding fabric and carpet changes that changed from the original order and what became available in 1970. I am pretty sure the 2 door was available all the way through 1971. Feel free to post the link to the original brochure you have, I would love to see it!

    If you ever have to replace those windshields, you will learn one of the great advantages of this design. Oh...and why would you need to heat hot water? Isn't it already hot?

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  5 років тому

      LOL yeah, I should of said cold water heater. :D The flat plate glass is awesome! Last quote I got was $80.00 per side, and that was with 4" of tint across the top. The gasket was about just as expensive!

    • @mrblanche
      @mrblanche 5 років тому +1

      @@1D10CRACY The "hot water heater" is a big bugaboo with my brother, and I guess it rubbed off on me.

    Thank you.

      Maybe, I lost brakes last year, not sure how I will approach repairing it. I've never been a fan of the single reservoir braking system it has. I may reluctantly end up upgrading it to a dual reservoir for safety reasons. I also have a 90 HR Diesel pusher I've been fixing up and a few other projects that may place it on the back burner for most of the year. But it's being kept dry and clean. :D

    • @lordthomas59
      @lordthomas59 10 місяців тому

      I'm sure the upgrade on those brakes will be worth it in the long run, just in case your interested, we have a great group of vintage winnebago guys that gather once a month to share stories and information of these old RVs, it's amazing the knowledge these guys have, it's helped me tremendously. If you're interested, just let me know.

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  5 років тому

      1D10CRACY - How did you get them OFF?

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  5 років тому

      They bolt on from the back side of the door frame. You have to remove the door frame to get to those bolts if I remember correctly.

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  3 роки тому

      They are legal to use, illegal to produce. These have split locking rings, not split rims. People get them confused today. But yes, if you do not know what your are doing, they can be dangerous.
