I wasn’t even the biggest fan of Hidden History, I thought it was pretty good but didn’t really get the hype. But THIS? This is IT. Going to be jamming this for years to come. Glad others are loving it too.
Starspawn and Absolute Elsewhere are my personal B.I. favorites. But I can dig everything this band is doing. Triggering the "I hate life bc I'm trvu kvlt incel Neanderthals" is a great bonus.
Someone on Twitter referred to Blood Incantation as "Black Floyd" and IT WORKS. EDIT: Finally got my hands on a vinyl copy. Best album of 2024. Perfect. No notes. The solo after the first verse of Stargate: transcendent. The Tangerine Dream section: YES. The technicality on display: DOUBLE YES. The Pink Floyd section on The Message: JUST HOOK IT TO MY VEINS
After hearing the Stargate I'm unreasonably excited for this record. I sincerely think this could be one of those albums people are still talking about decades later.
I heard Stargate for the first time when I was on my kayak in a lake last weekend and I literally almost fell into the lake air guitaring my paddle. Then got my vinyl copy Monday and just absolutely loved it. I think it’s one of the best records of the 2020’s.
I just love this album. It is just so awesome. Like how they combine death metal and progressive rock to ambient it is just amazing. This is one of my favourite all time albums easily. I think i love it as much as i do Iron Maiden Somewhere in time album.
I will definitely have to check out this album since there's a lot of praise on it so far. I did discover the band before, and I dig their material. Blood Incantation and Tomb Mold also deserved the praise with their brilliance of material in the genre. I am very interested to hear bigger and wider sounds of separate ideas and influences. I do love it when some bands decide to explore and be open to adapt during their progressions.
Also I've actually heard "thrashin Jackson"s" bullshit arguments being used by some of the elitists on there who don't like that they went so far into the prog territory. But thankfully that site has changed a lot and there are more metalheads like us that appreciate it LOL EDIT: But they didn't eventually come to the conclusion that its good. Also forgot to mention the site I'm referring to is of course Metallum if that wasn't glaringly obvious LOL )
Well then! I was going to prioritise Cosmic Putrifaction for the death metal slot of tomorrow's New Noize playlist, but it seems I may have to see what all the fuss is about! I shall report back with my thoughts... on Sunday, after I'm back from UK Ponycon XD. Keep up the good work, Uncle Melty!
The last album you gave a five out of five was for Imperial Triumphant’s newest record from 2022, I think? I’m about 80% sure I’m right on that. Anyways, I did hear the first 20 minute song from the album, and I thought it was a little disjointed between the death metal parts and the ambient parts. Hopefully it grows on me in the context of the record.
Nahh we gave 5/5 scores to last years Panopticon and King Gizzard albums as well. And I think this is a record that benefits from the FULL album experience, I actually tried to stay away from singles and anything from the album until I got the promo copy for that reason.
I was already pretty fucking amazed by Stargate... And then The Message somehow takes it a few notches higher. What a fucking triumph of an album, holy shit
Usually when it comes to new albums, I will listen to it once, wait a week, then come back to it to decide if I want to put it in an off-weekly rotation. With this album, however, I knew after I first listened to it that waiting wasn't going to be enough. So, I decided to put it on in the background while I did creative writing. When I'm listening to more prog-orientated metal, I'm looking for something with more of a clear-cut structure, which is why it's hard for me to really stick with more extreme progressive metal bands, save for the likes of Meshuggah, where the groove is front and centre. As such, there aren't any individual songs I can see myself coming back to like Bleed, Do Not Look Down, or Marrow. This doesn't mean I didn't like it, however. I feel the same way about this as I do a lot of atmospheric back metal bands, as music to take on a journey with. These sweeping soundscapes are absolutely mesmerizing, and I don't feel I can accurately articulate the emotional weight that carries alone. This album is an experience every metalhead needs to have if they want to dip their toes into more extreme subgenres. For that reason alone, it's going to make my best-of list at the end of the year. But it doesn't knock Evergrey's "Theories of emptiness" off the top spot, because I enjoy more anthemic, sing-along metal as a whole. If anything, this album has helped to articulate that personal preference better, and has, without question, earned the heaps of high praise awarded to it! Overall, I'd score it as about 9/10.
My only complaint about this album is that it’s too short! I’ve listened to it three times through today and am always surprised that’s it over already.
Ingurgitating Oblivion's 'Ontology of Nought' is my album of the year, supplanting Pyrrhon and Ulcerate. Is Blood Incantation gonna change this? Probably. PS: check out Ontology of Nought if you have time, it's wild.
I'm being serious when I say in a few years this album will be seen as an important one. I think this album will influence a lot of people in what they do and understand can work in metal
here the full opinion: Ok, a bit late but finally had the time to listen to the whole album this was the first album i ever listen from them, really like it nothing bad to say about it does it worth a perfect score? for me NO but will definitely buy album from them in the future (older ones)
This album is one of my most anticipated albums of the year. Their previous album, Hidden History of the Human Race was one of my favorite albums of 2019. Blood Incantation has a unique style of tech death with psychedelic rock elements, like if Morbid Angel decided to play King Crimson or Pink Floyd throughout one of their songs. Their EP from last year Luminiferous Bridge gave me high hopes for this upcoming album.
Saw Blood Incantation open for Gorguts and Cannibal Corpse last year. They were solid. Gorguts were incredible. I dig Progressive music in general as well as Death Metal. I'll definitely check this album out.
Gave the album a listen and WOW. Album is straight 🔥and absolutely lives up to the hype🤘🏻Parts of it remind me of the last Cynic album Ascension Codes which I love. Oh and I can definitely hear the Pink Floyd influence. Especially on The Message [Tablet II]. Incredible.
This is easily one of the best records of this decade. The potential of this sound is enormous and Blood Incantation has a real chance to be a genre-defining band if they continue to explore it.
I absolutely adore this album. It is faithful to both the death metal side and the progressive metal side in equal doses, and it works. Perhaps the best compliment I can give it, however, is that it doesn't overstay its welcome. These six songs are over in a flash, and it keeps strong replay value because you keep wanting to listen to see what other sonic soundscapes you hear every time you listen. I would love your thoughts on the new 1349 album, personally.
I thank you, kind sir, for recommending me this beauty. Easily AOTY for me. This has made a fan of Blood incantation and i am exited to check out their other stuff too
I don’t know how anyone can find time for this album with the lastest track from motley Crüe being so inspired and awesome and destined for repeat listens

I’m so glad you liked this one. I almost shed a tear at the album outro as well, and the melody gave me huge Insomnium vibes. This album will go down as one of my all-time favorites.
This album rules I jus pre ordered this through iTunes. Stargate 1,2,3 is stellar. My favourite album this year? Welp Blood Incantation goes head to head with Pyrrhon with my year end top of 2024 Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here meets Human era Death. I’m here for it all
This is THE Blood Incantation album for me. They hinted at greatness to come with the Luminescent Bridge, but to be honest I never really understood their hype leading up to that EP. Absolute Elsewhere is a god damn slab of ear candy if I've ever heard one, though. What a fucking adventure!

I want to the hate this band. I submit. There is no doubt they have done something special here. I’m waiting for a tape release but def need this in the library!!
I know a lot of people hate this band for their own reason, but in my opinion musically their heads are in the right spot. 70's prog, kraut rock, amibient and fusion and I love this band because of that. Their creativity is out the wazoo when it comes from their knowledge of bands that came before them. Hate all you want people but don't have to buy the album.
Listened to "the stargate", and it is very creative, but it's not my thing. I'm not into the psychedelic parts, and the drums sounded weird on the death metal parts.
Damn, “Cosmic metal masterpiece” thats BOLD. But if there is anyone i trust using those words, its melty. Been a great year already for Death metal, Blood incantation is the moon shaped Cherry on top. Blood incantation went from a band i didn’t like a few years ago to now a band that i think is really cool. Ill give it a listen ASAP (Also new Ripped to shreds fucking SHREEEEDDDDSSSS man 4/5)
My only issue with albums like this are less the records themselves, but more the scene hyping up albums like this, but not giving more love to the classic non-metal bands, especially from prog and krautrock.
nooo we've had more than that bud. In regular album reviews, and retroactively through the 'best of the year' stuff, we've given 5/5's to "CALIGULA" from Lingua Ignota, "Underneath" from Code Orange, "Alphaville" and "Spirit Of Ecstasy" from Imperial Triumphant, "...And Again Into The Light" and "The Rime Of Memory" from Panopticon, and "PetroDragonic Apocalypse" from King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. In the 'Reviewing EVERY Album' series there's plenty more.
This album is like Rush’s 2112 if it was on steroids.
Absolutely blown away by this album. I have always really liked their previous stuff but this is literally transcendant. 11/10

At least some parts sound Floyd like. The tangerine dream collab is very cool as well.
Wouldn’t it be Blood Floyd?
