I feel like Cattle Decapitation's lyrics off their last few albums just get more and more relevant with each day that passes. Im sure that'll be the case on Terrasite
Cattle Decapitation are a band that age like fine wine. They just keep getting better and better every album. Since Monolith, they've released nothing but masterpieces. They've claimed their place among the greatest metal bands of all time. My favorite of theirs is probably Anthropocene (well, until I get to hear Terrasite)
@@WHOREHAMMER_OFFICIAL Just finished the album. Their best album to date, hands down. No, I don't care about people's opinions. It's that great. The finale blew me away.
Cattle Decap Ranking Albums (to me): S: Monolith Of Inhumanity, Terrasite A: The Harvest Floor, The Anthropocene Extinction, Death Atlas B: Karma, Bloody, Karma C: Humanure D: Homovore E: Human Jerky F: To Serve Man.
This is a band that I really like but unfortunately cannot get into as much as others. They have lots of awesome things that I love about them, yet the jumbled nature of their songwriting can make hearing a full album from them, including stuff like Monolith of Inhumanity, a bit of a chore to get through for me personally. However, I am loving the singles for Terrasite, so I hope that the upcoming album helps me to love them haha
Got into Cattle through a playlist of Ben Duerr (Shadow of Intent). Was really surprised when I heard it the first time and was blown away. Started to listen to Death Atlas, Extinction, Monolith. Then it took me some time to listen to Karma and Harvest Floor. And well right now the only albums that are left are their first 4, probably because I don't like the production and the sounds. (Obviously I'm used to their 'good' quality stuff). But what I'm trying to say, I love their sound, Travis vocals are just nuts and also McGraw is now one of my favorite drummers. And I love the topics they talk or write about.
100% back your comments on Monolith. This album absolutely floored me when I first heard it, and still does. (similar experience first hearing it at a mates place...~altered~)It actually changed the way I thought about death metal/metal in general, and how I played guitar. Easily their best
To me, Monolith is a total masterpiece, however, Monolith Of Inhumanity would not have been the best balanced piece of art of Metal from Cattle if The Harvest Floor or Karma, Bloody, Karma would have not existed. In Songs like Alone At The Landfill, Of Pride and Flatulence, The Product Alive, The Ripe Beneath The Rind, Regret And The Grave, etc. Travis has done Clean/raspy Harmonic vocals on them that we still hear and perceive crystal clear.
HUMANURE: When it comes their earlier albums, this could easily be considered their best record. I think it blended their now past death-grind sound with a mostly sinister death metal sound, but does it really well. Vocally and lyrically one of their best albums in my opinion; up their and probably tied for me for first place with 'Monolith of Inhumanity'. I think their guitarist Josh is really starting to find his footing and writing those iconic riffs that you will continue to see much later on (in the Dave Otero Producer 'era' of Cattle). For me, a 9.5 out of 10)
Just re-posting what I said on a terrasite album upload. yeah someone actually uploaded the whole album on YT Well, this is my album of the year for me hands down no contest. it's no surprise to me honestly it's cattle decapitation for fuck sake. Ever since that Huge shift from the Harvest floor to the absolute death metal masterpiece that is monolith of inhumanity, this band has just been a decade-long streek-like monolith of inhumanity, the Anthropocene extinction, Death Atlas, and now Terrasite. From the lyrics to the musicianship to the production everything they have made after the harvest floor has been nothing but perfection in my eyes. Also, one thing can't really shut up about is how all these years, Travis fuckin Ryan hasn't aged a damn bit man he is every bit as brutal and furious with his melodic and goblin-like vocals and the dude is close to fucking 50 years old Not to mention he despite his hate for deathcore has inspired so many death metal vocalists under his name it's insane man like vocalists like dickie alen of infant annihilator and will Ramos of Lorna shore to name a couple of examples. Anything in the death metal scene right now at the moment as far as I'm concerned is nothing compared to terrasite in terms of brutality, sheer fury, and over all greatness in my opinion. album of the year for me no contest man LONG LIVE CATTLE DECAPITATION.
Anthropocene was everything I wanted Cattle to sound like after I heard Monolith back in 2012. As much as I loved Monolith, TAE just upped the ante. Songwriting got better, the mix was absolutely perfect for the vibe of the album. Death Atlas couldn't live up to the bar set by TAE, which is completely fine. Terrasite on the other hand is giving me hard TAE vibes and actually might end up being my favourite out of all of their discography. That's absolutely crazy to think about from a band who's been going strong for nearly 3 decades.
I will never forget the fact that I 1st discovered this band from a WATCHMOJO vid lol when Forced Gender Reassignment was like #1 on a controversial music videos list then looking it up online and being horrified by the vid but slowly falling in love with it, so much I needed to know what band, what album this song was on. And yeah that’s how I got into Cattle Decap lmao S: The Anthropocene Extinction, Monolith of InHumanity, The Harvest Floor A: Humanure, Death Atlas B: Homovore, Karma Bloody Karma C: Human jerky C-: To Serve Man
Cattle Decapitation is 1 of 2 Metal bands that has released 4 consecutive albums that were my favorite albums of that year. The other band is Death. Death Atlas was my least favorite of the 4 but I still love the album.
Monolith was the first one i heard. I wasnt into extreme meta at that point, so it was a challenge. But there was something intrigiuing and about it that made me want to keep going back. The snippets of melody among the carnage made those bits more memorable, while those blasts are trying to rip your head off! Their best album for me, but not their most accessible. Id recommend The newer stuff for a newbie if theyre unfamiliar with the genre
My band had the pleasure of opening for these guys twice when humanure first dropped. That cover is burned into my soul. Bring back the beef jerky mask Travis!!!!!!!!!
HUMAN JERKY / HOMOVORE: Cattle Decapitation became my favorite band of all time BECAUSE of their first 4 records. I have been a fan since 2005 and for the first few years, all I had were Human Jerky through Humanure. They are some GREAT records. To this day, I own the most copies of Human Jerky (original cd and lp pressing, 2 picture discs, remastered cd and lp, and 6 copies of the remastered album on cassette, between their yellow and red shells. Lots of them are signed as well). Anyone new to the band PLEASE consider going back to these albums. It is really worth a listen!!
I am glad you included Human Jerky and Homovore in this list of albums, rather than ep's. When I asked Travis Ryan directly, he says that the band considers them full lengths as well, given their death-grind style.
i own all of their albums on wax, got the new one a week early and i will say, its absolutely incredible. Like Death Atlas, minus the fillers. Travis Ryan really shows off his vocal skills on the new record!
I will definitely admit, that I aint too big a fan of Deathcore/Deathgrind, however cattle is one of those exceptions, especially with The Monolith of Inhumanity and forward to now. Like holy shit, they are genuinely one of the most important bands with their songs. And some are more relevant than ever. Bring Back The Plague, Forced Gender Reassignment, and pretty much all of the environmental shit they've made, it is NUTS.
The Harvest Floor and Terrasite are their two best albums followed by Monolith, Anthropocene, Death Atlas and Karma in that order. I’d like for someone to articulate why The Harvest Floor isn’t the best.
Harvest floor is when cattle became cattle. I really like Harvest floor like ripe beneath the rind is one of my favorite songs ever but monolith is still my favorite album mostly because it's the first album I heard from them.
The only slight difference of opinion I have with you is that I would give Anthropocene 5/5 as well, those last three are just out and out masterpieces in my eyes and I expect the same for Terrasite!
Cattle Decapitation is Badass. I feel that they deserve to be up there with Cannibal Corpse due to their sound. Absolutely loved this video bc I like watching your vids & tbh I agreed with your opinion with every album here tbh. The older they get, their older music just feels like stepping stones to lead to their magnum opus Monolith Of Inhumanity, as that album is flat out mental, then after this they stay consistent with this sound & Keep making badass music ever since. Also, never played a monolith of inhumanity while playing Dead space... That's something I'll defs have to do someday lol.
Yes! I agree with nearly everything you said. As for the question which one is better, Monolith or Death Atlas, I'd say there are maybe better songs on MOI, but DA is stronger album as a whole... While I can understand your opinion on sound on early records, particularly TSM, have you heard the newer versions remastered by Dave Otero? Much better! PS. At last someone paying attention to the lyrics! Thank you!
The Carbon Stampede is probably when I started paying closer attention to Cattle Decapitation. When the singles from Death Atlas dropped I was beyond impressed and became a fan. I saw them open the Great Heathen Army tour and it was one of the best 4 song sets ever. They truly sounded great at the 17,000 capacity Forum in Inglewood. I’m so F’N excited for Terrasite. Gonna be blasting that all weekend.
Damn I feel old. I first heard these dudes in 2004 when I picked up Humanure at a local CD store. And the reason why To Serve Man was so weird is because Gabe left and Josh Elmore came in. They kinda didn't know where to go. Humanure was when they found more a foothold
This was an incredible review. I knew about this band for years because of Monolith, but never really tried to listen until I heard Bring Back the Plague. That was the song that made me a Cattle Decapitation fan. I proceded to binge their works over the course of 2020 and never stopped. My absolute favorite album by them hands down is Death Atlas. It showed up in my life and resonated how I've felt about the human species for a long time. I wasn't a big fan of their earlier works before Monolith of Inhumanity, but your review has made me want to try and again and see if I can find some gems for myself 🤘
Ok for real I've been down with Cattle since to serve man, it seems like they've been getting better and better ever since Humanure. Monolith is a Masterpiece of an album which elevated the standards of death metal and I can see why everyone loves it so much, but holy fuckin fuck Death Atlas tho... That whole album ripped my face off the first time I heard it, the lyrics just oozing hatred and hopelessness in a way I was already feeling on a spiritual level, and yeah an album so destructive and yet glorious and powerful it literally brought back the plague. And also I can definitely say without question, Cattle Decapitation have the biggest most violent nasty blood drenched mosh pits I've ever seen. It was like watching a feeding frenzy of sharks, once they got going there was literally no way in or out until the set was over \m/ \m/
Feb 2020, at the very early stages of the Pandemic and crisis, I got to see these mad bastards live in Melbourne Australia. And it was fuckng amazing, just a non stop onslaught of noise and fury. Death Atlas is a raw, emotional and ANGRY album, and that energy is even more apparent when they play it live. Though 'Bring Back the Plague' came across as an absolutely sublime piece of dark comedy in that environment.
Cattle Decapitation are legendary in deathgrind and Travis Ryan is a such a beastly and versatile vocalist. Here would be my ratings of each album: Human Jerky EP: 6.5/10 Homovore: 7/10 To Serve Man: 7.5/10 Humanure: 8/10 Karma.Bloody.Karma: 7.75/10 The Harvest Floor: 8.5/10 Monolith of Inhumanity: 9/10 The Anthropocene Extinction: 9.5/10 Death Atlas: 8.75/10
I just finished my discog run fo them (first time) as of typing this, and here are my thoughts 1. Death Atlas 2. Monolith of Inhumanity 3. Terrasite 4. The Anthropocene Extinction 5. Human Jerky 6. Karma.Bloody.Karma 7. To Serve Man 8. Humanure 9. Homovore
I literally discovered this band when We Eat Our Young came out and fell in love. Super super excited to hear Terrasite tomorrow. They climbed to my top 5 bands of all time after listening to their whole discog.
I love cattle decapitation a lot. They do brutality in such a creativity and depressing way it’s insane. Its pretty hard to rank their discography especially in recent years but here’s my list. 10. Homovore 9. Human Jerky 8. Karma.Bloody.Karma 7. Humanure 6. To Serve Man 5. The Harvest Floor 4. Death Atlas 3. The Anthropocene Extinction 2. Terrasite 1. Monolith of Inhumanity Their new album might be number one eventually but for now it’s really high up there
I've only heard Monolith of Inhumanity, The Anthropocene Extinction, and Death Atlas, and I'd rank them backwards chronologically (DA first, then TAE, then MOI). I think the only reason MOI is so low for me is that I just don't like grind and it has a lot of grind influences (better done than any other band but still not my thing) and so yeah. Death Atlas is amazing. Love it, especially the title track. Amazing shit.
Well done🤘🏻I saw them on tour with 6 Ft Under before Chris Barns sucker punched Travis Ryan and ran off to his bus with his one man “security”, lol, fuck I’m old, also, Cattle Decap has the hardest drum parts in metal, imo!
Easily one of the most ambitious extreme metal bands or all time!!! 🤘🤘🤘 Human Jerky - 4/5 (It's debatable whether this is an EP or an album. But no matter, it's great👍) Homovore - 4/5 (Same scenario as above) To Serve Man - 4/5 Humanure - 4/5 Karma.Bloody.Karma - 4/5 The Harvest Floor - 4/5 Monolith Of Inhumanity - 4/5 The Anthropocene Extinction - 4/5 Death Atlas - 4.5/5 Terrasite - 4.5/5
It's crazy how each time you choose the perfect words and descriptions on each album. Can't wait to listen to their new stuff as well as hearing your take on it. Cheers
hell freakin yeah death atlas an easy 5/5 right there, I've never seen absolutely ferocious music completely matched by lyrics that go this hard before. a whole mood is what death atlas is. great ranking mr. meltdown.
TO SERVE MAN: Man, To Serve Man COULD have been such a great album. I think Travis had some peak, sick vocals on it, and that bass was SOOO crunchy and awesome. It suffers from some same-sounding intro/outros to each song and the drumming was pretty much the worst drumming on any of their albums. I am not sure what happened with Dave on this record; maybe this was the reason he was replace by Mike after this record. Although, that guitar tone on this album was super unique; not really seen on any other record. It has a weird reverby sound to it that I thought was kinds different and cool.
My favorite album from them is still Death Atlas, just for the simple fact it is literally just the album equivalent of mother nature throwing her hands in the air, lighting a cigarette, and saying, "Fuck humanity. Fuck your species. I am going to wipe you all out so I don't have to deal with you parasites anymore."
Maaan id probably argue that Monolith, Anthro, and Death atlas are perfect. All 3 have stellar openers and closers (with Death Atlas having that foreboding and crushing despair to it). Ave Exitium is such a good intro to Pacific Grim, and Tyrants is just a fullbore punch you in the throat track. And ultimately I think Terrasite was a decent to good record, but I almost feel like Cattle should find another engineer for the next release. As much as i love Dave Otero, i do think Terrasite is on the cusp of being samey. But also, Cattle doing Monolith/Anthro/Atlas again certainly cant release a truly bad album so maybe i should just shut up 😅
Such a good band. Travis Ryan is an amazing vocalist. Admittedly I’m not much of a fan of their early work, though from the mid 2000s onwards they really stepped up their game. Excited to see them with Dark Funeral this summer. Here’s how I would rate them: Human Jerky: 4/10 Homovore: 4/10 To Serve Man: 5/10 Humanure: 4.5/10 Karma.Bloody.Karma: 8/10 The Harvest Floor: 8.5/10 Monolith of Inhumanity: 9.5/10 The Anthropocene Extinction: 9/10 Death Atlas: 7/10
I love Cattle Decapitation! They have a special place in my heart. This might sound weird but the song Forced Gender Reassignment helped me a lot when I was struggling. I'm a trans woman that has been through a lot. Keep up the good work I love your content!
Karma, Harvest and Monolith are their best imho, not a big fan of the more "mellow" direction they took in Death Atlas, which is special to many people but i honestly find boring and pretentious, but It's subjective ofc.
It's hilarious how many people put Monolith on a pedestal like it's the second coming of Jesus fucking Christ. It's a great album yes but take it out of your throat.😂
Lol me and that guy pus rot have been beefing bout this actually as he insists that the newer albums have gone soft I would disagree on some of this , so I'm interested to check out where this goes indeed
KARMA.BLOODY.KARMA: I feel this is Cattle's weakest record by far. I felt like the song structure was too chaotic and their were very few strong, standout songs. I rarely go back to this album personally. THE HARVEST FLOOR: This album would see the end of Billy Anderson as the band's Producer and bring in (in my opinion) a much needed change of pace with Dave Otero. We also see Dave McGraw join as the drummer, replacing Mike Laughlin. While Mike was a respectable drummer for this band, I think Dave's skills and technicality really amp up the band's sound going forward. I feel like too many people sleep on this absolute BANGER of an album. Still a bit of technical weirdness and chaotic song structure that we see on 'K.B.K' but I think it is done much better.
They deserve every bit of the praise. And I tried it again and again. But I just can’t get over these Udo Dirkschneider (of Accept fame) vocals. As soon as Travis switches to that style I’m out. Bummer, cause the package is just brutal in every other aspect.
saw them live, was (kinda) disappointed, especially with no Forced Gender Reassignment. still probably one of my favorite death metal bands of all time
maybe I caught em on a bad day, especially since they opened. if they closed (but let's be honest, everyone comes on before Amon Amarth) I would have liked it alot better. I just want a longer set lol
After having heard Terrasite in its entirety...there's NO possible way for it to not be Top 5 on every metal list for 2023. Just Another Body is fucking Mt Rushmore...is probably my fave ever by this band...possibly top 10, ALL-TIME... (NOT a distinction I often make)
I feel like Cattle Decapitation's lyrics off their last few albums just get more and more relevant with each day that passes. Im sure that'll be the case on Terrasite
@Big Matty 💪 heh... yeah imagine that hahaha... 😅
@Big Matty 💪 never.
They already are woke, as they’re vegans.
@Big Matty 💪 I'd not call them "woke". They're on the liberal side, but not the crazy kind of liberal.
Death Atlas was the first Cattle Decapitation album I heard and I was blown away. Exelkent record.
I bought it on tape so I can listen to it in my truck lol
Please tell me you also gave Monolith and Anthropocene a spin. Both are amazing, Terrasite is fucking great as well!
@Brandon Van Haren me? Yea I like all from mono to current but I couldn't find any other tapes but that one
Manufactured Extinct, while not my first Cattle song, was the one that finally made them click. The guitar hit in the beginning is absolutely massive
Dude same, first album I heard from Cattle Decap and realized I missed out on a kick ass death metal band
“Bukkake Tsunami” is the best song name that will ever exist. But yeah all joking aside, Cattle Decapitation rules.

Death Atlas for me is their best of the four that I own (including Terrasite). Love them all, but that grief/rage blend on DA just really gets me!

Here would be my ratings of each album:
Human Jerky EP: 6.5/10
Homovore: 7/10
To Serve Man: 7.5/10
Humanure: 8/10
Karma.Bloody.Karma: 7.75/10
The Harvest Floor: 8.5/10
Monolith of Inhumanity: 9/10
The Anthropocene Extinction: 9.5/10
Death Atlas: 8.75/10
Just watched them live yesterday... Three of the songs were from the big cheese (c=
I just finished my discog run fo them (first time) as of typing this, and here are my thoughts
1. Death Atlas
2. Monolith of Inhumanity
3. Terrasite
4. The Anthropocene Extinction
5. Human Jerky
6. Karma.Bloody.Karma
7. To Serve Man
8. Humanure
9. Homovore
Without a doubt one of the best death metal bands (mostly) of the 2000s
Well I'm going to go listen to them all right now. Thank you Sir!🐮🤘
I literally discovered this band when We Eat Our Young came out and fell in love. Super super excited to hear Terrasite tomorrow. They climbed to my top 5 bands of all time after listening to their whole discog.
Dead Space and Cattle Decapitation..? Sounds like me ffs!
I love cattle decapitation a lot. They do brutality in such a creativity and depressing way it’s insane. Its pretty hard to rank their discography especially in recent years but here’s my list.
10. Homovore
9. Human Jerky
8. Karma.Bloody.Karma
7. Humanure
6. To Serve Man
5. The Harvest Floor
4. Death Atlas
3. The Anthropocene Extinction
2. Terrasite
1. Monolith of Inhumanity
Their new album might be number one eventually but for now it’s really high up there
Humanure fucking kicks ass, one of the best aside from their last four albums.
@themetalmeltdown This is a Request.... Can you Do A Discography review for these 3 bands Next
Static-X
Ministry
Fear Factory
Respectfully, not interested. Not at the moment at least.
Got my purple vinyl coming friday for the new album! God this band is untouchable at this rate 🤘🏻🤘🏻
🤘🤘🤘
Human Jerky - 4/5 (It's debatable whether this is an EP or an album. But no matter, it's great👍)
Homovore - 4/5 (Same scenario as above)
To Serve Man - 4/5
Humanure - 4/5
Karma.Bloody.Karma - 4/5
The Harvest Floor - 4/5
Monolith Of Inhumanity - 4/5
The Anthropocene Extinction - 4/5
Death Atlas - 4.5/5
Terrasite - 4.5/5
I have a very soft spot for to serve man 😂 I really don’t know why I like that album lmao
I am going to wipe you all out so I don't have to deal with you parasites anymore."
much difeirent opinion here: i love all of their albums
Here’s how I would rate them:
Human Jerky: 4/10
Homovore: 4/10
To Serve Man: 5/10
Humanure: 4.5/10
Karma.Bloody.Karma: 8/10
The Harvest Floor: 8.5/10
Monolith of Inhumanity: 9.5/10
The Anthropocene Extinction: 9/10
Death Atlas: 7/10
I love Cattle Decapitation! They have a special place in my heart. This might sound weird but the song Forced Gender Reassignment helped me a lot when I was struggling. I'm a trans woman that has been through a lot. Keep up the good work I love your content!
i dont think they play anything pre monolith live now
Death Atlas is a masterpiece ❤
Monolith is the best workout album of all time.
Terrasite > Death Atlas > Anthropocene > Monolith says I.
We're is Medium Rarities
Tis' a compilation not a full studio album so it was not included. BUT undeniably full of gnarly bangers.
Lol me and that guy pus rot have been beefing bout this actually as he insists that the newer albums have gone soft I would disagree on some of this , so I'm interested to check out where this goes indeed
Extreme disagree as well
@@themetalmeltdownofficial 😁
The music video for "Forced Gender Reassignment" is banned on UA-cam now.
Nooooooooooooo
I mean, yeah, thats not exactly shocking lmao
Not really shocking news, it's been this way since it came out in 2012
@@themetalmeltdownofficial It deserved to be banned due to community guidelines. UA-cam has just been constantly beefing those up lately.
It’s been banned for years lol
❤
I found them after “to serve man”, it started with the audio from a the Russian soldier video that was circling at the time
😮😮
They deserve every bit of the praise. And I tried it again and again. But I just can’t get over these Udo Dirkschneider (of Accept fame) vocals. As soon as Travis switches to that style I’m out. Bummer, cause the package is just brutal in every other aspect.
At what point do young metal music UA-camrs realize swearing constantly isn’t edgy?
Old man energy
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Fucking fuck yeah, motherfuckers!!!1! METAL!!!
saw them live, was (kinda) disappointed, especially with no Forced Gender Reassignment. still probably one of my favorite death metal bands of all time
Seen 'em live 5 times now lmao, they're so fuckin' good live.
maybe I caught em on a bad day, especially since they opened. if they closed (but let's be honest, everyone comes on before Amon Amarth) I would have liked it alot better. I just want a longer set lol
They are ok, but I find their albums extremely overproduced as is the same with the majority of modern metal bands.
Jesus f***ing Christ Terrasite is UN-FUCKJNG-BELIEVABLE!!!
(UA-cam's Metal Freaks channel has it....BUY THIS FUCKING ALBUM!!)
