Makoko is a community built on stilts over dark water, often referred to as the "Venice of Africa" due to its unique appearance. However, the reality is far from picturesque. The water is polluted with household rubbish, including needles and human waste, and there is a strong smell of rotten fish in the air. Hundreds of people live in close quarters with little privacy.
