Please, how can we support his work financially? And if I visited makoko next week, will I. I stay on the island and I just want to visit that area for the first time. I’m so inspired that if a foreigner can come all the way what is stopping me meet him there?

It’s exactly what I thought as a lot come to Nigeria from past crime.
One such was a missionary from USA who went to Kenya with his wife but married a 2nd wife unknown to his wife.
He almost got away with her murder but GOD brought her to life and told her story.
I pray he is genuine not a criminal but check him due to children too. 😢

I respect Mr Kyle and I thank him. Water is something Nigerians neglect - I was glad you launched that clean water initiative - Kudos.
    Questions arise in my mind:
    1) Why aren't the NYSC deployed to help with a project such as this?
    2) Lagos state has a multi-billion dollar economy, why can't they dedicate a fraction of this towards communities that lack clean drinking water?
People are quick to BOAST of a population of 200+ million, but it takes a foreigner with a "pricked conscience" (from childhood) to come and do something like this. It's kind of sad how as a society we have become blind to people's obvious needs. Despite all the talk of being the "giant of Africa" - the poor in Nigeria are no better off than the poor in "poorer" African countries, they could even be worse because there are more people to fight to get what you want.
I would like to commend Mr Kyle he has so many good ideas.

Very good idea. I hope it takes off. But I just hope enemies of progress do not try to stifle this project. Look at those who makes money from the sales of generators, hence why nepa has so many powercuts.

Regardless of what you think about this man's intentions and as an African, a Nigerian who lived, went to school and worked for many years not far from this area, One thing i know for sure is that as a culture, empathy is something our people need to work on. To the indigenous culture it really is a strange concept. The fact that Lagos state govt has not done anything meaningful for these people over the years is just sad. Hopefully this community will turn aound soon and will no longer be a charity case for the rest of the world to show up and try to help us fix.

Exactly, 💯 selfishness! It gives them pleasure to see others begging them for handouts!!!

Shine your eye. The same way religion has blinded us all in Nigeria. The same way they changed the image of the individual they call Jesus into a blue eyed European instead of a person that looks like a Middle East man. The same way they take advantage of the poverty in Makoko to hide their true intentions. Open your eye!

very apt we lack empathy a lot.

Empathy is not lacking in our indigenous culture(s). Africans are historically and traditionally, warm hospitable and caring because we live Ubuntu: I am because We are. Our hospitable nature was abused by the different colonizets
The selfish culture in Lagos/Nigeria is a result of our (unfortunate) interaction with the Western way of living ( exploitation, consumerism and materialism-words that don't exist in African languages), the divide and rule policy of religion and colonization. The current crop of people living in Africa are hardly African in the true sense because the values they have imbibed are alien to the those of the ancestors they descended from.

@@senoradelvita that's a theory they promote, but it's a false narrative, designed to divide us. Simply STRUGGLE has made people more selfish, but even culturally, Africans can be very cruel or very kind.

I think I saw some students from Lagos State, that create machine to purify water for this place. But I think they were having financial issues. I don't know if you can bring them in too sir. To collaborate too.

The govt can never afford to move them unless there's a relocation elsewhere ready for them. Also with few modernization and small hotel resorts on the island for tourism will generate good income for the people.
