Thanks a lot for these videos! I’m a runner who is looking to buy a gravel bike, mainly for cross training purposes, and I’ve been trying to understand more about what all the specs and numbers mean. I think if you could make a video on what to look out for (and how to interpret the numbers) that would be really useful to someone who has not been into cycling for a long time. Thanks!

Love my Redwood. I actually have 27.5 x 2.8 tires on mine. It’s really fun and capable.

I've been waiting for that video, thanks! The Poseidon, Diamondback and GT look awesome, unfortunately they're not available in Germany. Can you recommend some more bikes up to 1.5k or 2k (since you can find 2k bikes for sale from time to time, so they're 1.5k aswell 😀) Mainly looking for adventure/bikepacking ready bikes, and I also prefer steel bikes, with as low gear range as possible! THX!

Curious why the Poseidon redwood makes the list over x ambition?

I do appreciate the X Ambition's lighter weight and carbon fork. But its the tire clearance which is a limitation for me. I only chose the Redwood for its more capable tire clearance. As tire clearance adds significantly to bike comfort and ability off-road. Along with a more comfortable geometry setup with a longer chainstay and wheelbase making for a more stable ride with gear. The X Ambition is however more upright when it comes to stack/reach ratio. I should have also mention the X Ambition as a option along with the Redwood for a more All-Road alternative

The Muirwood with wide tires handles beautifully in the snow, very stable.

Journeyer is impressive but it's wheels are often WTBs and I've seen those rims crack a lot. I think the new batch is okay, but the covid runs had a lot of warranty issues. If you get one, just inspect your wheels regularly and know the date your warranty expires. Otherwise and impressive alloy deal.

I grabbed the $248 Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer and it's a steal of a deal. Ride it out of the box or spend a couple hundo on upgrades, it's fantastic.

Would you recommend the number one bike to carry a surfboard rack?

Nice breakdown of entry level bikes. I prefer a flat bar configuration for a more upright ride. Thanks for sharing!

You know why they are cheap? Because they are cheap. Poor quality, bad components. Here is my experience with my Breezer Radar:
    - After a few 100 km scratches and ditches on the coating
    - After ~3000 km the bottom bracket was worn out, replaced by a Shimano bb
    - Noticed the color of the bike changed, looks like the coating is not UV stable
    - After ~6000 km the steering head bearing was worn out, replaced by a FSA bearing
    - After ~9000 km the hub of the back wheel was worn out, no replacement parts available, so instead of a new hub I decided to give the bike away and get a new one with better components.
Sad enough that for this amount of money the quality is so poor.
