Cool thanks for sharing👍 That freedom camping area at Forterose gets packed in the summer and in the whitebait season.

@@allantaylor3288 Still like to stay there though. I would imagine it gets busy. I saw all the whitebait stands beside the river.

@@hymertimesnz it’s a nice to backup and you’ve got a great view over the estuary. Can get very windy as it’s exposed in a southerly. Heaps of flounder for the picking too.

You didn't show the world Niagara Falls.

@@kiwihib McLean falls are my favourite! I would like to go back and spend a few days in the area. Might cover them then. Our friends had limited time before they had to head back to Nelson area but we can pop down from Dunedin and spend time at Catlins any time. Love all the walks down there too so lots to do yet.

@@hymertimesnz Niagara Falls show off the great Kiwi humour even way back then, the drop of the falls is about 20cm see below.
Niagara Falls was named by a surveyor with an obvious sense of humour! The ironically named falls share little in resemblance with their gigantic cousin the Niagara Falls on the border of the USA and Canada, in fact, they are probably one of the smallest falls in the Catlins. However, situated just off of a main road, they are easily accessible and perfect for scenic photos and a breath of fresh air.
A special site called a nohoanga is situated on part of the Waikawa River nearby, signifying its importance for gathering traditional food for Kai Tahu Whanau.
