I live here in Inverness, Scotland & I can honestly say our geography is very beautiful too, but visited New Zealand back in 2019 and travelled only the South Island and wow the landscapes there are just on another level of extreme beauty.
@@cjexplores Yup definitely and I'm just being biased now because Scotland is home for me, but to be honest I really did not expect the landscapes of New Zealand well particularly the South Island to be so extreme, the mountains are huge in comparison to what we have here & they're everywhere!!
As an older kiwi and former Backpacker Accommodation and Tongariro Crossing operator you have done a great job of this guide! If I was still in business I would use this for my potential bookers. We run an airbnb these days.
Have loved all your NZ vlogs guys. What a stunning country and lovely to see a recap of its beauty in this one. Such a comprehensive and helpful guide & top tips for travelling there throughout every season of the year. Thank you Charlotte and Cory ❤
Awesome video. How would you recommend booking everything? Mainly flights and campervan I suppose. Do you book camping spots before hand, and for each night? Etc. Thanks for the helpful video!!
If you’re going in high season, definitely book in advance. Passes to certain walks will sell out months ahead of time, so make sure you know the release dates of any particular hikes you want to do. Most casual walks are open to walk whenever, mainly the overnight ones you have to book ahead. Popular campsites will book out, so plan ahead. And with flights, best way is to be flexible with dates and you should get a good price. Try to make the departure time after lunch and arrival time morning for the best chance at beating the jet lag 😊
Your videos have been great in helping me plan our first trip to South Island in Nov! Thank you so much! Can I ask where is the location in 6:41 timestamp. I remember seeing your reel on this but when I tried looking it up on maps it looked very different.
Hi Bobba! That’s great, so happy that you’ve found our videos so useful 😊 here’s a google map link to that location: maps.app.goo.gl/LhZfG5TusvNuiRm76 it’s called Fox Glacier Viewpoint and as you’ll see, it’s a short drive away from town. Weird, the further you get away from the township of Fox Glacier, the more of the glacier you can actually see!
Glad they’ve been of help! The location is ‘Fox Glacier Viewpoint’ in the South Island. You should find it on Google maps if you enter: Fox Glacier Viewpoint / Te Kopikopiko O Te Waka Have an amazing trip 😁
This is great! I think adding your travel insurance recommendation would also be great as that is what I am currently shopping at the moment, what would you recommend?

Very well explained and so many people miss seeing the North Island because they don’t think it isn’t as spectacular as the South Island . I haven’t been yet and I don’t think I will ever have that chance . My husband doesn’t care to holiday anywhere anymore and not even in Australia . All we do is go to some hikes on Sundays . Last Sunday we did the Grand Canyon loop at the Blue Mountains. I guess I should not give up on hope . New Zealand , I want to visit you one day . Besides Kiwi experience , can’t you book organised tours to see the tourists attractions ? If you don’t drive a car , you would need to book tours .
Thanks Louisa, yes you can certainly book tours for exploring NZ that will take a lot of the legwork out of the planning. But you could also just book in your accommodation and take the intercity buses between each place. The drives are just unreal, and actually being a passenger on a bus means you get to sit there and enjoy it all. We have a friend in her 60’s who visited NZ by herself and travelled this way. She had the most amazing time and is planning a return visit soon! At least you get to go on Sunday hikes 😍 but you could certainly look after yourself in NZ. Be brave, you would love it ❤️
Great video, good insights and tips. I’ve been planning our trip from Canada in November for a few months now and it seems that the average travel cost per day is considerably more. I have yet to find a hotel less than $200 per night. The camper van hire are definitely expensive and the cheapest I’ve seen so far is approximately $300 per day without the cost associated to campsites. Maybe I’m doing it wrong?
Nz is awsome I live here btw and I would just like to say be carful what you say about rugby here(at my school most fights are started around the state of origin time are cause of it or last year it was)
Could you provide me with the address of Kane Williamson, the captain of the NZ cricket team? Meeting him is on my bucket list😍 I understand that he is currently on a tour in the US🤔
We live in New Zealand and my daughter school has so many events each year they have parties. They have four playgrounds. They have a 14 size pool. They have bees a really big field super big hole a day before Friday. Thursday. My daughter had like a really big event that was candy for baby goat big goat candy floss fish and chips. Stores that sell bracelets squishy like anything and it was a showcase for Kapa Haka choir Orchestra songs. Dances raffles and lucky dip you could feed the baby gods you could feed the big goat
Very informative video. 😀Thank you, but could you please share with us what jobs someone needs to have in order to afford to live there because of the high prices? Are you and your partner/husband in the tech industry?
Thanks! We didn't live there, we just travelled. However, Cory is a NZ citizen. There are cities which are more expensive to live than others. I believe Christchurch is still a great option for more affordable housing (& it's a cool city!)
