Awesome vid...definitely helped me out...After an a few evenings of playing with different variables (boat speed and rope length) I was able to get wake to wake pretty easy but this vid was perfect for what I would like to do next. I think I need to do a little pop to get some more height and play around with the approach into the wake.
this level of skill will take a lot of falls :D i thought it was similar to snowboarding but there is a different learning curve with the boat pulling you all the time vs sliding down a hill. Great video, thanks for the pointers.
Skateboarding -> wakeboarding was pretty easy to pick up. I’d say wakeboarding is pretty easy going if you can figure out how to stand up right, it’s definitely worth trying if you have the access! Snowboarding is a steeper learning curve IMO.
A very professional video! Everything from the graphics, editing, physics based variables, music, etc. Good job, keep them coming. Are you in central Florida?
Thank you very much. this helped alot. i started wakeboarding in july and i can do a 360 on the water and 180's on the water but i still haven't cleared the wake! i kept my knees bent everytime and i could only get around 3/4 of the way to the other side. this helped alot. thanks.
I got into wakeboarding this summer (been skateboarding and snowboarding for many years) and I have started trying to jump from wake to wake, but I think our boat doesnt make big enough wakes, is this a huge factor or is it all about the jump(rope pull, legs straightened out etc)?
does a bigger wake affect the height or level of difficulty of some jumps and tricks? When I'm not performing well on some days I prefer a smaller wake because it seems easier.
Someone please respond to this, my boat doesn’t have a tower. Which means the cord stays at hip level. I can usually jump a wave even under these conditions, but I can’t ever jump as high as I want. Does the tower make a huge impact on this? Or am I doing something wrong?
Okay i get very close to clearing the wake but i have trouble landing so usually i get massive air (4-5 feet) but after i get the air i fall do i just bend my knees to absorb the landing?
think you mean a tower, but yes it does help with air im no expert tho this vid did explain quite well tho what you need to do to jump the wake but i think they kind of neglected that they were using a wake boarding boat which means there wake is way nicer an easier to jump i use a crappy 87 ski boat still a blast tho
Try either going faster so that the wake is a bit more narrow. Or another really easy option is to shorten the rope by 10-15ft and stay at that 18-19mph range. Also it depends on how you launch yourself off the wake.
I watched the whole video start to end twice so I don’t know if I missed something or what but... I just went out and tried this at the wake park and ended up flying off the ramp trying to do a double gainer a solid ten feet above ground and landed on my head with the rope in my swim trunks. My face went numb from the pain and the rope ripped my shorts off my body, leaving me with no choice but to walk ashore fully nude for the whole park to see. My question is do they make special wakeboarding pants that stay on when regular swim trunks don’t?
Wow, a lot to digest here. The physics of a wake to wake jump vs. anything on the cable are significantly different. Please reference any of our cable/park videos and use those tips. As far as your shorts, if you want to avoid that there is always compression shorts that you could wear under your board shorts.
preferance and wake all about how you like it and the way the wake is shaped, i go about 22-23 mph and 65 ft line, sometimes 80. everything is what you like best. randall the vandall harris runs a 95 ft line i think
@LearnWake Is it normal to be able to use any handle? I've used anything from small, rough, and really stiff rubber handles to thicker, softer rubber handles and just really thick wooden handles and i can do the same with either of 'em
During this video, they are riding apx. a 70 to 75 ft rope, however rope length is always a function of the ability that you have, the boat you are using and the things you are working on. Play with different rope lengths as there is no magic length.
after you flatten out your board in the toeside flats, the boat will begin pulling you back into the wake. then, apply a slow, progressive edge and you should have no slack in the rope.
For an inboard boat, this would be considered pretty "normal". For reference most of those shots likely came from a Malibu VLX or V-ride from the early to mid 2000's. Today's new flagship inboard boats would be considered "superwakes" which are significantly bigger than what you see here.
it depend diff boats make diff wakes and diff speed to make diff wakes say a boat goes 25 and a diff goes 30 but there the same wake so it depends wat kind of boat
Will someone answer me? I found up how to get up out of the water but I don't have any control over the board, I'm trying my best but I just am all over the place
I can only tell you why this is called a regular :P BTW I'm goofy and I found this video very helpful, because I can easily edge really hard, achieve a great speed and even powersilde, but my jumps were quite lame so far.
you need to slowly start going into your edge. don't cut your edge as hard as you can as soon as you start going to the wake. build up to it, and cut hard when you get close to the wake. Never let up on your edge when your going in, it will mess you up.
Play with the rope length, by not only making it shorter and easier to clear, but longer (and slower boat speed) to launch one wake jumps much bigger without the fear of the second wake being there on your landing. Depending on the boat, try riding as far out as your rope will go (80 to 85ft for example), slow the boat down to where the wake is about to curl over and try to pop high one wake jumps where you clear the prop wash (the white line from the back of the boat). If you can do this consistently, then take it wake to wake on a shorter rope. Then work your way back to your normal riding length.
best wakeboarding vid on youtube whose explanations one can actually follow
best video for learning to clear wake and get bigger air ive seen so far! great video LearnWake!
Best instructional video I´ve ever seen on UA-cam!! Thanks alot!! Keep it up! :)
9 years ago damn

Going to the lake this weekend. I've been wakeboarding ever since I was little but never tried jumping. Can't wait to try this weekend!

WhatIThinkNation which is easier do you think?

Best jumping tutorial I've seen thankyou buddy big help!
Just sent this out to my crew! Should help with their technical side of jumping!
great video and explanation. heading out today to try some of these variations.
A very professional video! Everything from the graphics, editing, physics based variables, music, etc. Good job, keep them coming.
Are you in central Florida?
such a great tutorial and helps a bunch was kinda confused with the variables bc there were so many different names
What should you do with the handle when you jump off the wake to help you have more control on your landing?
Thank you very much. this helped alot. i started wakeboarding in july and i can do a 360 on the water and 180's on the water but i still haven't cleared the wake! i kept my knees bent everytime and i could only get around 3/4 of the way to the other side. this helped alot. thanks.
Wow what an excellently put together video! thank you!
Is a ski pole necessary for jumping? The rope is low down on our boat so it maybe difficult to get some decent air :/
I got into wakeboarding this summer (been skateboarding and snowboarding for many years) and I have started trying to jump from wake to wake, but I think our boat doesnt make big enough wakes, is this a huge factor or is it all about the jump(rope pull, legs straightened out etc)?
Helped me so much today!! Such good advice
@MildonLanhorn Im haveing the same problem. we rent a boat and can get as close as you can to jumping the whole wake without going all the way across
does a bigger wake affect the height or level of difficulty of some jumps and tricks? When I'm not performing well on some days I prefer a smaller wake because it seems easier.
if i am doing this but not on a boat meant for this but has a tower what is the ideal speed and rope length?
i have a few questions first off how fast should the boat be going? and how long of a rope should you have? thanks :)
Well do u have fins on the bottom of your board?
this is just a professional video!! It really helps a lot! Thanks loads mate!

U guys saved my life
I can almost jump the wake because of this video Ty
What about now
What about now
Okay i get very close to clearing the wake but i have trouble landing so usually i get massive air (4-5 feet) but after i get the air i fall do i just bend my knees to absorb the landing?
Great vid. Actually taught me a lot!
our boat has a single pole not a bar across the top will that make it harder to jump??
hey how fast do you normally ride at?
What's a good speed for doing this?
Would fins effect your jump?
What speed to you go
I've been studying techniques for jumping higher and found an awesome resource at Enyeto jump plan (google it if you're interested)
Seamus Seerey about 20-23 mph
im not sure what its called, but does what ever you hook the rope onto have to be mounted high up?
think you mean a tower, but yes it does help with air im no expert tho this vid did explain quite well tho what you need to do to jump the wake but i think they kind of neglected that they were using a wake boarding boat which means there wake is way nicer an easier to jump i use a crappy 87 ski boat still a blast tho
How much ballast do you use???
if my boat does not have a high pole or high bar going across it (my rope connects at the back by the ladder) can i not jump?
whats the best combination for when you are first learning to jump on a wakeboard
what kind of board is used in this video?
How fast should the boat go?
Is that lake weir?
listen my boat is a light boat is has a wake but not the greatest how do i get big air on a smaller wake?
Wonderful description thanks
great lesson
What is that leg push he was talking bout like just jumping sort of

when i wake board my lower back hurts on the side of my trailing foot is that something im doing wrong or just not enough muscle in that area yet?
I hope you have the muscle now 7 years later?
I watched the whole video start to end twice so I don’t know if I missed something or what but... LearnWake didn’t know that about wake parks. Interesting. I am just glad the rope didn’t latch onto my dick
This helped so much, thank you.
finaly a good tutorial :)
When i carve in toward the wake theres a lot of slack, what should i do? I need 2 know too, message me or reply.
preferance and wake all about how you like it and the way the wake is shaped, i go about 22-23 mph and 65 ft line, sometimes 80. everything is what you like best. randall the vandall harris runs a 95 ft line i think

@bubblez0795 put some ballast bags in the back of ur boat to make the wake bigger. id say go 225. that should do it.
Is this a superwake or a "normal"?
For an inboard boat, this would be considered pretty "normal". For reference most of those shots likely came from a Malibu VLX or V-ride from the early to mid 2000's. Today's new flagship inboard boats would be considered "superwakes" which are significantly bigger than what you see here.
I am using a 50 foot ski rope. I think the extra 20-25 will really give me that extra swing out needed.
Hey,
wonderful video!
Have a good evening :)
THANK YOU!!!
it depend diff boats make diff wakes and diff speed to make diff wakes
say a boat goes 25 and a diff goes 30 but there the same wake so
it depends wat kind of boat
How fast where you going?
i am a an ok wakeboarder this helps alot of this stuf i would have not have known
Will someone answer me? I found up how to get up out of the water but I don't have any control over the board, I'm trying my best but I just am all over the place
I'll try it thanks
When you push do you like jump
Vincent Hagg Davies Don't really have to jump at all, just stand tall and let the wake push you up into the air
+Sincoola27 yur welcome daddy
when i carve into the wake, there is a lot of slack in the rope causing me to lose speed, how do i fix this
Dekoded EDM gradually move into it, lean back, and put your weight on your heels. If you do it right you’ll feel intense speed going into the wake
awesome vid going to help me alot
nice video.. keep up the good work :)
i go around around 19 mph and the rope length is 60 ft. i can clear the wake pretty easily
How fast is the boat going there
18 or 22
what kind of boat?
is this video still effective if you don't have a tower? anybody help please!
Tanks!
@Boarders en CO Awesome thanks
The video is very helpfull
thanks dude
This looks so easy
+Tomboard goodluck
AWESOME
well, it looks easy but the time will learn it. good video ;)
I can only tell you why this is called a regular :P
BTW I'm goofy and I found this video very helpful, because I can easily edge really hard, achieve a great speed and even powersilde, but my jumps were quite lame so far.
okay good, its not just me seeing that.
its kinda pissing me off. it literally worked yesterday. it looked like a really awesome site
why is evry wakeboarder left footed ?
Nice. Ειχα φάει αρκετές τούμπες πριν γιατί ειχα τεντωμένο το σχοινί στον αέρα
you need to slowly start going into your edge. don't cut your edge as hard as you can as soon as you start going to the wake. build up to it, and cut hard when you get close to the wake. Never let up on your edge when your going in, it will mess you up.
I was going to buy fins, but the guy at the store said if ur wanting to do tricks, u can't have fins on it, is that true
thanksssss
i get air but cant clear the whole wake
looks so easy..
practice and will do it like this
entirely confused.
si vous en avez deja fait likez
i managed to jump with how the yellow and purple lines go lol i havent wakeboarded in a year
22mph
I know I’m good enough to clear the wake but the fear of it is holding me back... what do I do?
Play with the rope length, by not only making it shorter and easier to clear, but longer (and slower boat speed) to launch one wake jumps much bigger without the fear of the second wake being there on your landing. Depending on the boat, try riding as far out as your rope will go (80 to 85ft for example), slow the boat down to where the wake is about to curl over and try to pop high one wake jumps where you clear the prop wash (the white line from the back of the boat). If you can do this consistently, then take it wake to wake on a shorter rope. Then work your way back to your normal riding length.
im only 12 holly crap i wish i could do tht
you gotta be doing backflips by now!
Qui pourrais traduire en français? Trop technique et trop rapide, le commentaire pour moi!
Your site is hacked... just fyi
