- The „Wheels" was originally recorded and played by The String-A-Longs in 1960. It was written by the band's guitarist Jimmy Torres. The „Wheels" is one of the well known and most popular melody in the world of music. More than 16.500.000 copies were sold and there is 150 cover version by various artists.

Sajnos a mindennapi teendők, a ház körüli munkák, a műtét utáni lábadozásom alatt felgyülemlett munka miatt nem sok szabdidőm maradt. Mindig is nagyon tetszett ez a dal, az egyik örök kedvencem. Már régóta szerettem volna eljátszani, de sokáig tanakodtam rajta, melyik verzió legyen a sok jó közül.

Nahát! Nem tudtam mire vélni hosszú hallgatásod. Az eredmény magáét beszél....Imádom ezt a számot, nemrég kaptam meg a BT-jét, de nem mostanában fogom feljátszani ezek után. Thank you very much for you kind words. I am glad you like it. I played it from my „ears”. First, right notes were searched by my ears, then I learnt them.
Reading the wikipedia about the origin of the „Wheels”, it seems things mixed pretty well. When I uploaded this song (almost ten years ago) I found information that this melody was written by Jimmy Torres. Who knows what is the truth? One thing is sure: he was the one or one of them who wrote this very-very nice song.
Great sounds, Billy Vaughn's recording of this spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the German hit parade an sold more than 1,000,000 copies in Germany alone.

Would you please reply to this post. I'll check it daily. I would like to get a backing track for Wheels. Norman Petty split songwriter rights with the actual song writer. Norman Petty owned a recording studio. He is listed as a writer on most of early Buddy Holly songs. It was a common practice to trade recording time for 1/2 song writer rights. You probably already know this. Just a little trivia.

Of course I know Buddy Holl’s story and the connection with Norman Petty very well. He is my most favourite singer. But I did not know that the Wheels was written in 50-50 by Norman Petty. When I wrote this short information for my cover, the source I found (I do not remeber which was that) said it was written by Jimmy Torres.
